Chapter 2 - Part One: Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Fluorescent woke up on a damp patch of dirt surrounded by trees, the smell of rain faint on the wind. Then she heard the off-tune Mozart again.

"Bo-be-dom-be-dom-be-dom-be-dom-bom-bom-be-dom-bom-bo-be-dom-bom," the little girl said, carrying the air of a thief. She sat up and stepped out the little gathering of bushes to stalk the little girl. A voice rang out in her head.

"System loading…. Loading complete. Hello, Fluorescent. I am your story system, Xi-xi. I will be guiding you through your journey through different f*cked up stories that need fixing." When Xi-xi said the f word, Fluorescent nearly blacked out through muffled laughter. "Why must you laugh? I am being absolutely serious. These stories are not meant to be read by children, so, in turn, you were sent to change that. The first of your generation. If the villain of the story is defeated, the story will fix itself. If not, then the worlds for children are going to be ruined and they will turn into pessimists and there will no longer be imaginations."

'Wait, if I have a system, does that mean I have died?' Fluorescent thought, about to ask the question out loud when Xi-xi responded.

"No. I understand that death is a traditional way of creating systems for characters, however, my creator is trying to break that tradition and can't stand writing stories that start out with the main character being dead. So, in order to have a system without being dead and reincarnated, you were sent here without being a character of the book. You will never be referred to by any of the characters even if you guys grew up together and were on your deathbeds together, just to increase your chances of never becoming a character of the book."

"What if a prince falls in love with me."

" A, never going to happen. B, then his soul will be sucked into the real world and he will become someone you have never met before. However, he will never remember you and has a low chance of ever meeting you."

"So, no one can know who I am?"

"Correct."

"Otherwise, they most likely never will meet me again?"

"Correct."

"What if they do?"

"What will you say? I know, 'Hey! Do you remember me from the princess and the frog? You were the frog and for some reason, wanted to marry me. However, when the story ended, you were sent to my world and don't remember a goddamn thing about me? How's your day?'"

"What if they do remember me?"

"Then something is wrong. Horribly wrong."

"What is that supposed to mean-"

"You ask an awful lot of f*cking questions."

"Well I am just curious and I have never had a system before-"

"Duh."

"Can you not be a smartass, you old dusty-" Fluorescent's sentence was cut off by a loud, bloodcurdling scream of rage.

"WHO HAS BEEN IN MY HOUSE?" they roared, causing every bird in the forest to fly away from the trees in fear.
