"Someone call an ambulance!" someone yelled, causing panic around the bookstore.
There were two people unconscious and next to them was something that looked like a very large dog.
All were taken to a medical facility and taken care of.
The man, Xi-xi was his name, had woken up and was asking the doctor, who seemed familiar to him, what happened.
"Well, it seems that Miss Miller here is in a comatose state. I don't understand what would have happened. People are saying that the wolf they found next to her didn't enter with her. She also had leaves on her clothes like she was in a forest and was found in the middle of a bookstore. She will wake in a few days. In the meantime, I am going to go to the nearest bar and get sloppy drunk."
"Aren't you a doctor?"
"I can afford to not be at work for a few days. That and this place has more doctors than they can pay so someone can take my place."
"Wish I had your confidence."
"Well I am sure that your girlfriend will be okay, so be confident about that."
"Girlfriend?"
"Sorry, I am used to seeing couples normally enter this place. The cases I normally get, they did it way too hard and she became unconscious. So, sorry if I said something insulting. Your friend here will be okay," the doctor said, correcting himself and leaving the room.
"Girlfriend. That sounds nice. Girlfriend. Why did it sound like I have met him before? Like, multiple times before…." Xi-xi said, immediately shrugging it off.
…
"Where are we?" Fluorescent asked Brandon, looking at her surroundings. It looked like the woods. Then again, it looked as if everything was made of smoke as if one breath could destroy the entire place.
"You wanna know where you guys are?" a voice said, echoing around them.
"Of course we do," Brandon scowled, his voice getting deeper.
"Aw. You mad, Brandon?"
" Hell yeah, I'm mad. You said not yet. You told me to wait. And I waited for a long time and when I didn't expect it, it happened."
"What is he talking about?" Fluorescent asked the voice. "Wait, the better question is 'who are you?'."
"I am the one that gifted you the chance to change up a story I have no control over, known as the Creator. But I like to be called Candy or Caramel."
"You are the one who did this to me?"
"What? You no like what I did?"
"I almost got raped by a sex-craze animal and you gave me a pervert for a system. Why would I like that?"
"Why not?"
"But why-"
"Why not? If I gave you anyone else, you still probably wouldn't like them. It was best that you got Gerald than anyone one else."
"Gerald?"
"Yeah. Although he prefers to be called Xi-xi, at heart, he will always be Gerald de Frele."
"Oh, so now he is an European pervert. Good to know," Fluorescent said, her face screaming that she was going to encounter a lot of hell in the next few times she enters a story.
"Right. Now, Brandon, tell me, dear, what did you see in her?"
"Who?" he asked, his face saying he already knew who she was talking about. He looked down at his feet.
"You know exactly who," she said, sounding closer than ever.
"I saw that she-"
"Face me when you say what you saw."
Fluorescent and Brandon both turned around to see a petite, slightly stout woman that had deep caramel skin. The hair was pulled into a dancer's bun and she had light coffee-brown eyes that looked like the leather seats in Fluorescent's car. Acne spots dotting her face here and there, she looked like she was much younger than Fluorescent, like she was nearly 14. What gave away that she was trying to look younger was that she was wearing a dress that was big enough to fit her but cute enough for a five year old to wear.
"I saw that she could have been something better than what she was. I saw that maybe I could have helped her and change her so she wouldn't be stuck that way for the rest of her life. That is what I saw in her. Change."
"You know that if you tried to change a small piece of bread into a whole loaf that it wouldn't work, now would it?"
"No."
"So don't try changing her. It was set like that for a reason. Your bitch of a sister just messed up the actual route I had for her. I wonder why she did it…." Candy said, stirring up the smoke to form a set of chairs for all three of them to sit in. Fluorescent was scared she was going to fall through the chair, but once she sat in it, she found it was as sturdy as a chair in the real world.
"Don't you have control over the story world?" Fluorescent asked once they had all sat down.
"Yes and no."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"I can control the story world, but since some of the characters went haywire, I cannot fully control it."
"Why did you pick me? Am I the first?"
"First question: Because I saw potential in you. Second question: You aren't. There were many before you. However, it has been several centuries since the story world went crazy. Last time it happened, characters were dying and going to the human world. I know that that is normal, but it wasn't time for them to die yet. Found out one of the other characters was told by one of my 'acquaintances' to do it and make me mad so I would send them over there. It didn't end well."
"Acquaintances?"
"You sure do ask an awful lot of questions," Candy smiled.
"Well, don't you sound familiar," Fluorescent muttered under her breath.
" Of course I sound like Gerald. I created him in my image, so he is much like me. Except I am a woman. That is the only difference," Candy smiled, noting the amount of surprise that appeared on Fluorescent's face. "But, yes, acquaintances. I never actually got along with my fellow workers, but he would rather I didn't argue with them. I would rather drop dead than call them my siblings, so I would just call them my acquaintances."
(The author of this book only has one but hates her the same)
"One last question."
"Shoot me."
"How do we get back to our world?"
"Good question. The problem is: I don't know how to get you back."
"...."
"...."
"You're f*cking joking."
"Of course I am. Bye for now…" Candy said, waving and having everything fade black.
