Aeinshia saw him grin playfully. He is really unlike himself today. Not only did he bought a dress for her, he even prepared a huge amazing garden as her birthday gift beforehand.
This was a new side of him. Yet, she wasn't complaining about it. He was like that. Never showing his emotions, but he cared a lot for others and she knew, he cared for her too. To say, she was a bit shocked by all this. He started to show his emotions to her. It was as if, not her, but Evan was reborn. She chuckled silently at the thought, but her face saddened immediately at the thought of her past.
Aeinshia shook her head to get rid of all the past thoughts and decided to focus on the present. On her love. On her Evan. Who was waiting for return gift in front her. But, was she going to give him that? Nah-uh. No. She grinned at him.
(just give it to him Aeinshia, after all he surely deserves it) ~author
"Don't you know Evan, one should give gifts with whole heart and without the expectation of anything in return", retorted Aeinshia.
Here she goes, always pointing things and never gives in easily for him.
" I do know that. However you should know there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world,my dear princess and..." He paused and moved a little closer to her "Am I asking I'm not worth of, Aeinshia?", he counter backed since he is not the type to leave what he should get.
He was the prince, he has his own attitude, after all. If she was determined, then he was also. Hard work definitely pays off. That's what he learned recently.
As he spoke he let go of her hand and sat on the trailing of the wooden bridge making himself comfortable.
Aeinshia acknowledged what he told. Nothing comes without paying anything in return. But that's not the only thing she observed, she detected that the 'few words' prince also became quite wordy nowadays and the change in his behavior as he started to become more intimate with her and using lovey dovey words like 'my princess' whenever he addressed her. He is a perfect example of cold outward, but deeply passionate inside.
It's like she is seeing a new side in him which he hid with a cold facade mask to the whole world and opening up to her as they started to get closer day by day by spending time with each other. It made her feel special and as an important person in Evan's life.
And that happiness got filled with emptiness when he released his hand from her and got filled with fear of losing him. She thought she could give up on him if he want to leave her and marry Lily, but with him behaving this way, she was not sure whether she can truly leave him later.
She was so sure the past may repeat and was afraid of committing her same mistakes. She still believes if Lily comes on the stage everything and everyone will change and she can't be together with Evan, who would later love Lily. She didn't want everything to repeat and feel the helplessness again when she died. She didn't want to loose him. No, not this time. If everything repeats, she was sure she would die of heart break than by loosing her head.
However, Evan doesn't know what was going in her head as he dragged her petite frame near him. He felt she was so far away from her and a pained expression consumed her face which he couldn't bare to see.
"So, are you willing to give me my gift", he told in an attempt to divert her attention.
He pulled her so close, their faces just an inch apart. She could feel his hot breath brushing her cheeks, following his hands wrapped around her waist.
" This is perfect", he muttered which she couldn't decipher as her mind was a total mess being so close to him.
"I hope you won't bake a cake for me this time. " He stretched out his hand and pinched her nose with great love.
A lightening stuck her head when she heard him. She wanted to make a gift herself for his birthday present when she was seven. So she decided to make a cake since he enjoys eating cake with her. She made one with the instructions of the pastry chef.
Unfortunately, that was a failure. The cake got burnt and she didn't have the time to remake it. So she just snipped off the burnt edges and added butter to the dry cake. After making the required adjustments she presented the cake to him thinking it was edible to eat.
Aeinshia's face turned a little red from anger. A crease formed at the end if her eyes in dissatisfaction, "Hm... I wonder who is that person insisted on eating it entirely, not giving a single piece to others? ", her voice came out like a question, but it also sounded like a confirmation that he ate it all by himself.
" It just got a little burnt. Why making a fuss over it now??? After 6 years, "she muttered in her heart
So annoying!
Evan saw her getting angry over it, but it felt good to tease her cooking skills.
" I didn't want to embarrass you in front of others, "he replied curtly.
The whole memory was still vivid in his brain. It's like, all happened yesterday. She baked a cake herself for him and brought it enthusiastically to him. She thought it was edible, but the cake was so hard even after applying butter on it. She might feel bad if he say it didn't taste good. So he decided to have it himself and not share with others, to save the truth.
Aeinshia was stifled by his words. She left speechless for a minute not finding any words to counter back.
"Then I wonder, who made a flower crown for and gave it as a present. I am sure...", she took a pause to see whether he was caring her words or not, " Even kids younger than your age makes it better", she pursed her lips and retaliated in anger.
