Evan pursed his lips as his brain pondered on how to strike back.
He felt like yielding, but at the spur of moment she returned fire by comparing him with others. No one likes being compared with others and he was not any exception to it. However, the point is, one doesn't like it being compared by their loved one's.
He know she is just picking with him, but his pride cannot accept that criticism. After all, he is a prince of an empire, the one around whom everyone flocks around and tries to please him, whereas she, instead of speaking sugar coated words, always nitpicking with him.
That's how she is from their childhood, she never tries to appeal others and always sticks to her true nature, which is why he is into her.
Evan copied her tone of voice and muttered, "I wonder who is foolish enough trying to dig a secret tunnel in the sandbox? ", his tone assertive.
When Aeinshia was a child she heard every kingdom have secret passages. So she decided to make her own in her area, trying a make a hidden path in the sandpit and asked Evan to help her dig a hole in the sandbox.
He knows it's impossible to build one without others help, but she insisted him and made him work on it uselessly because he wants her to know herself instead of he telling her directly. After all, experience is better than words, where words just enter from one ear and leave through the other. They digged on and on and the sand started to pile up as they digged more, soon minutes passed to hours, then day turned to evening.
Alexander came and saw the mess, he didn't say anything, just chuckled at their childishness. After digging for whole five hours Aeinshia felt tired, that's when Alexander came into the play and told her to give up on the idea.
" Ya.... ", by this time she was fuming rages as words didn't come out of her mouth when he banned her as 'foolish', " If I am a fool won't you also become a big fool for helping me? ", following that her eye brows furrowed in dissatisfaction.
Back then, both Evan and Aeinshia digged on and on and the sand started to pile up as they digged more, soon minutes passed to hours, then day turned to evening.
Alexander came and saw the mess, he didn't say anything, just chuckled at their childishness. After digging for whole five hours Aeinshia felt tired, that's when Alexander came into the play and told her to give up on the idea.
(Well, I say both are imbeciles for not confessing your love to each other) ~author
It's not that Evan didn't want to lose to her, but she kept on and on with her strikings which made him wonder to see how far she can go.
"If you are talking about following, then I wonder who is that tot always clinged on to me and followed me everywhere I went? ", he said calmly, following raised his eye brows daring her to retaliate back.
When they were kids, Aeinshia always followed either her brother or Evan. At first Evan felt she was very clingy and always invaded his. On top of that, his mother used to care alot about her and loved her which made him think she was taking his mother from him. So he hated her for that, however slowly his mother explained things to him and he took pity for her.
He didn't know when that pity turned into love.
Probably when she always hanged around him....
Maybe when she kept on blabbering away with him.....
Maybe it had been her mischievous and bold nature that turned his pity to love...
Maybe when she smiled brightly at his sight....
Maybe that Tsundere and aggressive nature when she bickered with him...
Or maybe when she was away from him . ...
He don't know when she entered his heart and ingrained in his mind, but one thing is for sure, he can't live without her and now, whenever he was not attentive, his mind always thinks about her and what she might be doing at this moment.
He just told it out of the blue, but when he realized what he said, he felt intensely touched in his heart. He wants those days to return back, and stay close to her just like when they used to be kids. As he thought so, his eyes turned into a more loving gaze to her.
However, she couldn't notice these slight changes in him as she was so angry at him for calling her fool.
"If I am clingy, then I wonder who is that dumbo that came to my doors when I didn't come to visit him just for a few days? ", she was gritting her teeth in anger and stared at his eyes challenging him.
But when those words left from her lips, his calm gaze turned into a serious and intense one. His lips curled up and with love, " Me", he agreed almost instantly.
He still remembers his mothers death. Aeinshia's body was weak right from the start, when his mother died from poisoning, Aeinshia couldn't accept the truth of losing her Empress mother. She skipped meals and cried for long nights in agony, as a result, her fragile body became even more weak and she got fever.
At the same period, for losing his love, his father, neglected Evan and Evan felt lonely. As days passed, Aeinshia too didn't visit him and emptiness enveloped his heart. He thought as his mother was no more, she too won't come and visit him. He restrained himself many times to not to visit her minding his own theories. However, when he heard she was ill, without further thought he rushed to her.
When Aeinshia heard him agree, she understood he already gave in and his eyes turned gentle for her. She didn't want to lose yet and want to continue more, however finally she gave up the idea as she too laughed out loud seeing them bickering. They again turned into kids with their bickering.
"That was funny", she commented amidst her laughing.
Evan simply nodded his head in agreement.
" So, did you meet your younger siblings yet?.. I am sure, with your personality you definitely didn't right? ", she asked a question and following it she stated an assertive statement not really asking him another question.
"Not yet", he curtly replied as his head shook indicating 'no'.
He had a total of three siblings, one from each three queens. They were just born when he left to study in academy, so he didn't really become attached to them and never even encountered one among them from the day he returned.
So he guessed they weren't intertesed in finding this elder brother of theirs and didn't bother himself with them.
"You need to meet them, after all they are your siblings and your younger sister is the cutest among all", Aeinshia commented trying to make him take the initiative to meet them.
Evan again nodded acknowledging her words. To be precise, his senses were working on other thing, when they were speaking he heard some noises from the trees garden. So his senses spiked suddenly into alertness. However, the muffling sounds immediately died and he could predict who was that.
"So you want a gift? ", she spoke, reminding him it was what he was after.
He still held her in his grip. Noticing that she was the one who initiated on reminding him, he wanted to take a little advantage. He inched his face forward covering the space between them. His forehead touched hers. He felt it was so soft touching her forehead.
"What will you give me back? ", he spoke flirtatiously.
She pushed him a little and immediately released herself from his grip. She could feel her body heating up with shyness.
" Wait for me", she said in a meek tone and ran away from him like a little white rabbit running away from its prey.
He chuckled at her cute antics, "always", he spoke on return when he heard her.
'My heart only waits for you my love.....', he muttered under his breath
After he was assured that she couldn't see him anymore, "Come out", he commanded.
