Chapter 1 - Prologue

Mediator's story a game that started the evolution of science and technology and gaming in general... A place known as a second world and one of the first full dive MMORPG* and also the most successful and well built game of all time garnering a player count of over 6 billion individuals worldwide and being merely 10 years old makes this innovation an even greater work of art as its potential remains a wonder and mystery the world would be more than happy to exploit. And yet a mere accident changed the fate of both the game and the players within...

................

Carrot Estate, Green Towers Main Hall;

As the voice from the television echoed across the room no one present dared utter a word as they were all fixated on the screen hoping they don't miss even the littlest details from the news report. As the reporter read out the headlines of the well anticipated news. It read, "Famous CEO and Founder of the global sensation Mediator's story has been confirmed dead after being involved in a car accident investigations are still being held as no other casualty has been..." When suddenly the voice of the reporter went dead due to the interference of the host and acting guild leader of the Carrot Guild vice leader Roger Hemsworth (Alias: "Saint Sword") turning off the television with a rather tiny remote, then he stood as he stared at the crowd in front of him pondering to himself why he was so nervous, maybe it was his shy and reserved personality or the fact that the people he was about to address were the guild leaders of the top 50 guilds or S rank guilds to normal people as each person had a position in the Top 100 ranking charts across the world, a rank he only dreamed of achieving and yet these individuals were seated down calmly waiting for him, a man who was nowhere close to their ability or authority to address them while keeping their gigantic ego in check.

Staring at the crowd and increasing his panicked state to a near maximum he took a deep breath and began "as we all know due to the passing of Guild leader Carrot the seat of Mediator has now been left open and judging by the fact that everyone here knows the true meaning of what that title carries, I'm sure no one here would just hand it over regardless of who they are handing it over to. So without further ado the true purpose of the meeting will now begin…" before he could even finish his sentence a loud rather deep and rough voice was heard at the entrance to the meeting room saying "There will be no meeting as there will be no further decision making." When suddenly 6 rather scruffy looking men burst through the door with their attire being a corporate black as a sign of mourning as they all took a seat at the free side of the massive conference table with the man leading the group seating at the middle seat indicating he declared himself leader of this meeting. Now what was surprising wasn't the act of these 6 men but the reaction of the crowd, now during the few minutes they all acted up nobody in the crowd dared even breathe loudly more so utter a word as they were terrified of the circumstances their actions would cause as all of these 6 men were part of the people considered to have just as equal or close to equal power as the late Mediator both in and out of the game the ORIGINALS, individuals said to have started the game with Carrot and built it up to this point giving everything they have to it. As he flung his feet to the table the Saint Sword couldn't seem to wrap his head around the last phrase uttered he turned to the crude man and said "What do you mean further decision making Lord Fenris?" in a rather smallish and intimidated tone obvious his previously gathered courage had vanished like it was never there now all he felt was an unprecedented fear in his heart for the man in front of him and as their gazes met he felt a shiver down his spine his body telling him to never think of going against the wishes of the prudent man named Fenris and unknown to him [saint sword], he wasn't the only one who had an indescribable sense of fear for him [Fenris]. Staring at the crowd with everyone waiting for his reply he [Fenris] stood up from his seat as he stared at everyone facing him saying "What I mean is there will be no further discussion on this topic as we have decided to shut down the game". The words came like an arrow shocking everyone as Fenris picked up the television remote and stared at the shocked crowd when somebody suddenly jumped up asking to repeat what he had just said in a rather commanding tone regretting what he had just did but gritting his teeth ready to face the consequences of his actions, as the shock from Fenris words made everyone have lingering doubts he smiled at the turmoil he had just brewed in everyone's hearts as he turned to switch on the television and just as a touted man with gingered hair was about to raise another complaint the reporters voice interrupted him as she read out the headlines saying "Mediator's Story servers down with no traces of the game found on any platform." The short and simple headings had put everyone in a state of shock and dread as they could never have imagine his bluff was in fact not a bluff but words that had already been carried out their minds not accepting what they had just heard and had come to the conclusion that the news station and man present were playing games on them thus trying to confirm the news for themselves. Now due to the importance of this meeting everyone present had opted to switch off their devices to avoid being distracted by the outside world and to their dismay the moment they switched it back on the messages they received where too many to even comprehend and all were related to the news they just heard. As the guild leaders confirmed the news only one emotion overrun everyone present despair. Mediators Story had become a major source of income of many people as the revenue amassed from the game had made the game the joint highest earning organization of all time as the menial jobs in the games had made many people's lives go from "rags to riches" in mere months talk less of high ranking positions like their guild leader position, and with the level of power each guild they governed possessed each person present would have amassed enough wealth to never have their families never suffer for as long as their kin lasted, but alas the subconscious greed of the human nature had caused them to crave even more and with their only source of income crashing right before their eyes they didn't know what else to do, some broke down right then and there, others tried to find ways to get Fenris to change his mind while others tried other rather violent methods to budge him [Fenris] but it seemed as at that moment everyone had forgotten the reason Fenris was known as the madman within the ranks of Originals a ranking known to consist of the most daring and even had a man known for being a ruthless terrorist yet everyone had come to the conclusion that regardless of all the crazy people within the ranks he was the craziest. As the noise level became unbearable, Fenris hit the table as he shot a glance to the people in front of him causing everyone to catch glimpse of his dark cold weary looking eyes triggering a shiver down the spine of everyone generating a dead silence that no one present would have believed possible a mere ten seconds ago. He [Fenris] as he had seen the crowds' hesitation to go further with any of their initial plans, he proceeded to command those standing to sit down, and after a few minutes of getting themselves together, he was the only person standing as he stared at the uncomfortable looking people in front of him, he called a close to the meeting with the crowd attempting another revolt he shot them one last glance and said if anyone could so much as to get a hit on him he'd not only give them all the wealth he had amassed but also revive the game using the backup servers and be their servant for as long as he lives. Immediately the words left his mouth although most people tempted by the offer no one took it up as they were reminded of why he was called the strongest both in game and in reality. And thus the meeting ended with the people there left with nothing but despair and a few compensation funds for their sacrifices.

.........

Meanwhile in a rather not so far property located in the city lived a man who although was in hiding, was watching the news in a dark room when his phone received a notification, and when he saw from whom it was from and the platform it was sent on he couldn't help but smile as the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia made him think why and how the game they cherished and loved would get to the point of no return. As he opened the chat on their discord server, the message was from a user "Mad raksha" as he said "that had to be the hardest shit I've ever done and I'm definitely not glad that's over". Another user "Rogue" replied saying "lol... you couldn't stop shaking, turns out you still have your trademark stage fright and I don't think it'll ever get old seeing you quiver so much another user named "One above all" said "I wanted to burst out laughing right then and there cos his walk out was so dramatic and their reactions afterward killed me everyone be looking like Carrot when he found out he had a child" as this mysterious man saw the texts he couldn't help but smile, the last time the chat room was used had to be over 10years ago when the launch of the game was just announced as nobody could hold their excitement. This very group chat had been where it all started and the very reason the game "Mediator's Story" came to life. Starting from a group of bored teenagers who met online, these persons started a game to cure their never ending dullness and satisfy their needs as a bunch of weeaboos searching for the perfect anime based MMORPG, and what better way for them than a make believe chat game where possibilities were endless given proper preparation and unity. Over the years the group grew through countless shared links and verbal ads from people who had gotten a taste of the game and enjoyed what they got and soon enough the player count had reached the tens of thousands, And after meeting with a popular gaming company who were dying to find a perfect game to test out their new discovery in Full dive virtual reality game console, a contract was established and the rest was history. Who would have thought that after merely 11years after, their long time cherished game would crumble before their eyes and in mere seconds? He couldn't take the pain from the nostalgia anymore he scrolled down to where mad raksha was still being mocked, he then went to the participant list c indicating only 8 people were remaining way less than even the starting numbers as he wandered what exactly went wrong he began typing as he said; "why don't we try it again but with our original character templates and this time the old way" as he said this the remaining participants all sent short messages agreeing to his message... after a few hours of playing, he didn't notice when he dozed off as a robotic yet familiar voice was heard and the words uttered made him jolt up and where he found himself afterward was too mind blowing for him to even comprehend...
