Chereads / CRIMSON MOON: RISING / Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

I winced as the bright sunlight blinded me temporarily, as it seeped into the room.

One thing was very clear.. I was completely alone.

Ray must have left while I slept.. without bothering to even say goodbye or to leave a message.

I really was an idiot.. of course he had been ordered to spend his time with me. Last night must have been a one off to distract me from my obvious attraction to Werewolves.. or just one in particular.

But I could not think like that.. I was here to complete a mission not to experience lust.

Would I be able to control my emotions around a Werewolf? Or was 'Braxton' special?

I have never seen one like him before and my Coven had captured a few in our dungeons in the past.. Why was I so deeply attracted to this one in particular? I just could not work it out.

I knew one thing for certain, I could not waste an opportunity to explore such an interesting Town; I needed to explore Crimson Falls.

Today is day one of not only my mission but of adventure too.

I stared down at my outfit frowning; I was wearing a white tank top and black denim shorts that clung to my skinny figure. I pulled my long black hair into a loose bun and straightened out my choppy fringe, which covered my forehead.

I had managed to find a beautiful Field surrounded by daisies that only seemed to shine brightly around me, as I sat beside a lake, next to it.

It felt like I had entered some kind of mystical area.. surrounded with such beauty.

I smiled, laid down and closed my eyes as the sun hit my face.

I heard excited whistling near the Clearing of the Field and sat up frowning.

The scent of Werewolves hit my nose again.. only this time.. I knew these guys were bad news.

At least I did not find every Werewolf attractive.

'Well well well.. what do we have here?'. A large male with a scar across his cheek smirked disgustingly at me.

The male has short choppy brown hair and has brown eyes. He is wearing black jeans and a black shirt.

I scowled in his direction.

'Can I help you?'.

He snickered and turned to his friends; two other males stood sneering at me.

'I am sure we can come up with some kind of agreement, for your trespassing'. He snickered.

The male then walked closer towards me and I dug my nails into my palms in nervousness.

I heard a splash behind me and knew my dogs were behind me.. snarling, as they emerged from the lake.

This meant that they had truly accepted our pact and would spend their lives defending me from any threat to my life.. even if it ended theirs.

He tilted his head and stared at them, surprised they were not afraid of him.

Normal pets would have run away with their tails between their legs.. but Familiars were very different. And my Familiars knew I was in trouble, they must have felt my fear.

'Send your mutts away, before I snap their fucking necks'. The male snarled, his pupils dilating.

'Huh, so you are afraid of a few dogs now?'. Braxton's husky voice echoed, sounding amused.

I looked up and stared in shock; Braxton smiled at me politely but then turned his serious expression to the Male.

Braxton's hair was messy, like he had been running.. but then of course he had been running.. he was a Werewolf after all.

I took in his naked back as he stood protectively in front of me.. he wore grey denim shorts only and he was barefoot.

All I could do was awkwardly stare at his tense back muscles, as he snarled at the Male.

'Get back to the House and quit terrorizing humans. You are what makes us look bad!'. Braxton snarled.

Humans.. I frowned. how could he out their kind in such a way?

I hugged myself, as the males then took off running; if they had been Shifted, they would have had their tails between their legs.

Braxton turned to face me frowning; he crossed his arms disapprovingly.

I could not have the same reaction however.. I simply stared in disbelief at his rock hard chest and abdominal muscles. How could a man look so.. ripped and sexy.

I knew I was blushing and yet he still looked annoyed with me.

'You.. why did you ignore the sign, no trespassing?'. He growled.

'Aria'. I whispered.

He rolled his eyes and shook his head disapprovingly.

'I remembered your fucking name, Aria. Or should I say Witch'. He added angrily.

I stepped back and gulped.

HOW THE HELL HAD I BEEN FOUND OUT ALREADY!?

I really could not do anything right.. maybe father should have married me off to some unlucky Warlock.

'I am not going to hurt you, but I am not going to treat you as if you are not my enemy'. He scowled at me.

I took a deep breath and frowned at him.

'Then why save me?'.

'My Luna wanted it known that you were.. off bounds'. He grumbled.

I sat down back in the Field and stared out to the Lake; sighing deeply.

'I guess I should thank your Luna then'. I whispered.

Of course.. such a handsome male was an Alpha with a wife.. I was stupid for fantasizing about him.

He then sat beside me and let out a deep breath.

'I do not hate you, Aria. I just do not trust you'.

He placed his hand on my back and gave it a reassuring rub.

I looked up at him sadly and smiled.

'Did you know her?'.

He frowned deeply in response.

'Your sister?'.

I grabbed his hand and he sucked in a sharp breath.

'Please tell me she did not suffer'. I whimpered, tears prickling my eyes.

He pulled me into his bare chest and began rubbing my back softly.

'My Alpha did not turn your sister, please understand that'. He mumbled quietly.

I pulled away from him and stared at him in disbelief.

'MY SISTER IS ALIVE!?'. I screeched in shock.

He grabbed my hand sharply, digging his nails into my hand.

'I cannot confirm nor deny your question, I am afraid'.

I gulped as I realised the situation better.

'I do not understand'. I frowned deeply.

'I am bound by my Alpha's wishes. I cannot comment further'. He sighed.

All these years, I had suffered and she was out here living her life?

I stood up and glared at Braxton.

'All this time.. she is alive? And she has chosen to stay silent.'. I snapped, as tears spoiled my vision.

Braxton grabbed my arm but I let a spark of lightning escape my fingers and he swore, as I took off running.

As soon as I got home, I laid down on the cool tiles of my Bathroom floor in nothing but a towel and shut my eyes.

For so many years I had suffered because I could not live up to my mother's expectations.. I was always compared to my elder sister.. now all I felt for her was anger.

I closed my eyes as I remembered my last memory of her.

Father had called me into his Office to tell me that she was given a mission and that I needed to say goodbye.

I ran into her Bedroom, interrupting her straddling a male Warlock, that I did not know.

She swore in reaction and screamed at me to get out. Then she later met me in my Bedroom.

My sister always did what my parents wanted and she was strong, probably the strongest female aside from mother in the Coven.

She told me we could not do goodbyes, because that would insinuate that she was not coming home, so we stayed up watching terrible movies together.

Annabelle had been my best friend growing up; she was five years older than me but that never stopped our close bond.

It hurt more not saying goodbye, but knowing now that she was alive simply made me more angry. And yet, I could not help but wonder if my sister was now an enemy to the Caster Coven..

But what was worse? She had not just abandoned me, she abandoned Dexter too; we needed her and she kept quiet.. maybe she was no longer a Caster and in turn, no longer my sister?

Would mother and father be relieved to know she was actually alive? Maybe they suspected as much.. and that was why I was truly here.. but then was it not my duty to report such things to them?

I let my tears fall down my face and simply could not stop crying.. I simply did not know what to do.
