Chapter 1 - Prologue

"What is your interpretation of death?" a black-headed male asked. He was sitting at his cushioned seat behind his desk, plucking red rose petals, due to his boredom.

The room was calm and covered in deafening silence; light rays coming from the large windows illuminated the study. The antics decorated on the walls and side table gave a fanch impression to the ambiance of the room.

A silver-haired woman was sitting on a couch in front of the young Earl's study, comfortably drinking her tea. She placed her teacup back to the saucer once she finished drinking her tea. Her gray and brown eyes appeared when she opened her eyelid, reflecting the light coming from the window.

"It depend on the situation," she replied to the young Earl's question.

The black-headed Earl turned his gaze at the heterochromatic-eyed woman, looking at him with a blank expression. "For example," he responded.

"It simply means it's the end of a life cycle. However, it can be a forced end or end by nature."

'When the person dies in an old age,' he thought, referring to the last sentence the last sentence the woman said.

"There are people who believe death is a means of victory, assuming they've done their part or their role of existence, they believe it is their time to go back where they said their soul belong," she said. "Heaven," she added. But there are people who believe death is a place of sorrow and despair," she continued. "And there are people who believe death is a gift to human beings."

The young Earl stopped plucking. "Then what about you?" he asked. "What is your belief towards death?"

The young woman turned her gaze to the teacup. She looked at her reflection at the faint yellow liquid. "I believe in everything at what I've said," she answered.

The black-headed Earl gazed at the silver-haired woman. He sighed as he placed the petal-plucked rose on his mahogany desk.

"I see," he replied.

Silence covered the atmosphere. The ambiance was overwhelmed by tensed, deafening silence. It was only for a short moment when the young woman spoke again.

"Do you still remember the deal we made?"

"Yes."

"We pretend as husband and wife while you support me financially, and I work as your secret spy."

"It's a give-and-take."

"Once we've accomplished our goal, you won't be seeing me anymore."

The black-haired lad paused on any possible movements he could made. He felt a slight nervousness when he heard those sentence coming from the woman's lips. But he could not know why. "Where are you going?" he asked.

"Going for a long time rest," the woman casually replied.

The young Earl felt more nervous. "What do you mean?"

The woman did not answer.

Silence conquered the atmosphere of the room once again. But it was not long when the young Earl asked another question.

"What's your plan behind your goal?"

The woman did not respond. It took a few moments before she opened her mouth to speak.

"Once I have enough money to buy a cure for my mother, and a house for both her and my sister..." she said. "I'll fall myself into a coma."
