Silence filled the room after hearing the young maid's news. Nicholas felt worried, not only for his sake, but also for the sake of his servant. Recollecting what Adam had said, he turned his head to the young Earl, hoping to see an expression of someone who found his answer. But to his disappointment, Adam only had a poker face.
Nicholas suddenly felt confused. What was the smirk he saw earlier?
As the silence continued to lurk, Nicholas cleared his throat and caught everyone's attention. "Another servant just got lost, Sir Adam, now what do we do?"
Curving his lips, Adam gave a smile to the Marquess and lifted his palm, "We are going to Tethiece and wait for Fenella."
Hearing the last three words of his sentence, he suddenly noticed Fenella wasn't around. 'Did he really sent his wife to danger?' he felt nervous and surprised at the same time, thinking about the fact that Adam put a delicate girl in peril.
Fenella reached the city, down from the mountain of the Woodwind mansion. The atmosphere was cold and humid. The windows in the buildings were closed and dark, while the stand on the side road was empty.
Checking if someone was around the corner, Fenella turned her head around her surroundings, before she walked towards the shaded part of the city, after confirming that no one was around.
She stopped once she reached the narrow path between the two buildings. Once again, Fenella turned around despite the dark surrounding, and entered the narrow road, entering the shadows.
She turned right as soon as she reached further enough, and saw a wooden door left ajar - a light, peeking through the barrier.
She rushed to the door, causing her skirt to flow by sudden actions. As soon as she reached the wooden barrier, her hand reached for the metal handle that served as a doorknob, but was interrupted when she heard steady footsteps from a few distance. Fenella turned her head to the shadow and saw a tall silhouette, walking towards her way.
Silence sealed her mouth for a few moments, her eyes remained at gaze, trying to see the face of a person approaching, until it reached the light and revealed its face.
A handsome brown-headed lad was walking towards her, his face, serious and grumpy.
However, his grumpy expression defied his handsome visage; his eyes brown as chocolate, his skin slightly tan, which conflicts with his white dress shirt. He has a pointy nose and slightly brown, even lips. His name was Marcos Cormac Lowell, a member of the Four Horsemen, entitled as the Messenger.
As the young lad reached Fenella, he stopped at a few distance and greeted her a good evening. "Actions never rest, even in the evening, huh," he said in his deep voice.
Fenella only sighed and furrowed her brows, "I plan to ignore all these problems and sleep for 12 hours by the time I finish my job," she shook her head and entered the door.
Marcos followed and closed the barrier.
They were greeted by a light jazz music, along with the light chatter coming from the people. The place behind the old, wooden door was a classic hostelry pub, filled with well-off people.
Fenella and Marcos proceeded to the cashier and ordered their drinks.
"Dark Ale," said Marcos.
"I'll have an energy drink," Fenella added.
The bartender stopped from mixing and looked at Fenella. "We don't have energy drinks here," he said.
With her sophisticated eyes, she turned her sight towards the muscular, tan, bartender, showing off her ice-blue and brown orbs, "Heirlooms," she said.
Without saying a word, the bartender started from working, indicating that Fenella got the correct word.
"You sure knew the drinks in here," Marcos remarked to Fenella.
Fenella only placed her eyes on the polished wood, "Adam often visits this place when he gets to meet with other nobles. I use to stay with his side, so I often come here as well," she replied.
Marcos, "Then why did that bartender speak as if he just met you?"
Fenella turned her eyes to the bartender, who was mixing a few drinks. "I've never met him before," she answered.
Marcos only silent and turned his gaze to the working bartender, "I see," he said.
After a few minutes of waiting, the bartender finished their drink and slid their cup in front of them, as they slip their silver coins towards the bartender.
As Fenella took the Pilsner glass, she opened her mouth to speak, "I want you to keep an eye on me and my surroundings," then she took a sip of her drink, "keep your ears sharp and attentive," she added.
After drinking, Marcos asked his question, "Where are we going?"
Fenella took another sip before she answered, "To Viertoise."
Marcos, "What are we going to do?"
Fenella, "We are going to gather information about the Dobroslav mansion. Since you are a messenger, I need your help to send them to Adam as soon as we finished gathering the information."
Marcos turned back to silent and went back from taking his drink.
Adam, Nicholas, and Aaron are on their way towards Tethiece, riding a carriage. Silence filled the atmosphere. Adam had his gaze at the moon, recalling his memory about Fenella, who glowed like a nymph earlier while watching the moonlight. Nicholas, watching the scenery as well as they pass by the trees and green grasses mixed with a shade of silver caused by the moonlight. While Aaron, who was bored, started to lay down on the seat, ignoring Marquess' presence.
"Adam, entertain me," he groaned.
Adam ignored his request.
The young Duke groaned again. "Adam!" he yelled like a spoiled brat.
A loud cry in the silence irritated Nicholas' ears. Meanwhile, Adam remained calm and gazing at the window, watching the moon follow. "Milord, I would appreciate it if you lower your voice and stay still. We don't want to wake up the spirits in the forest," Nicholas said to Aaron, forcing a smile. He felt like he was calming down a child, which made him question how this young blond became fearsome back in the palace.
Without any protest, Aaron behaved liked Nicholas expected him to do, and turned his gaze at the window, opposite from Nicholas' direction. "The spirits are already following us anyway," he said, bored.
Nicholas was puzzled at Aaron's words, "What do you mean, Duke Aaron?"
Aaron answered, "They never sleep, so-" he stopped his words in the middle of his talk. That kept Nicholas remained puzzled and looked at Adam, who was calm, and looking like he was dwelling in his world. Nicholas thought not to interfere and keep his question to himself instead. These guys around him behave so differently compared to the people around him.
Silence returned inside the carriage, while the sound of the wheel, hitting the ground, and the horse hitting the pavement returned to loud.
