Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven: The Last Stand

(This heat...this heat feels familiar. Is it Koji?) Yasmin questioned subconsciously. Her vision was blurry and she could barely hear what was occurring around her. She began fading in and out of this world with her thoughts set on one constant thing, Koji. She could feel the flames coming off of the boy and knew deep down he had achieved the transformation of Ranshio. Go get him...Koji...

Kuro looked on through Koji's eyes as he stared at Eikon intensely. He sacrificed majority of his power and energy and transferred it to Koji in an effort to prevent the boy from transforming into a fiend. Kuro's breathing became heavy along with his eye lids. He let out of a slight chuckle as he shifted his gaze upward, hoping the boy would be able to hear him just this once.

"Boy...I've given up most of my energy unto you. You now have the power of a transformed Ranshio Warrior along with my energy. Use it wisely for I won't be able to assist you for some time..." Kuro rested his head against his paws as he laid down before the gate that held him. He glanced over towards his neighbor, the sleeping Shidoken Dragon, in hopes of seeing some kind of reaction coming from him.

"I guess it's safe to say I can't rely on him to watch over you boy so you are on your own until I awake. Hopefully, if that women was correct, you should finally be able to hear me," Kuro mustered up a small smirk as his eyes lids began to shut softly. "Don't you dare lose, Koji..."A volcanic eruption occurred suddenly causing the ground below to quake. Koji stood still and calm while staring down at a shaken Eikon who still couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. The boy's eyes began to trail off towards his hands as he studied the flames that surrounded his body. He knew he had finally achieved the transformation he's been working so hard to obtain but couldn't help but feel like there was something more to it.

The flames that surrounded him was not just of his own, but of something else, something strong, something fierce, something wild. Koji formed a fist in his right hand as he returned his gaze back towards Eikon who had immediately appeared before the boy with a hefty thrust of his right fist. Koji couldn't help but released a slight smirk as he instantly shifted his body to the side to avoid the strike from the beast.

He then proceeded in slamming his right fist against Eikon's jaw, creating ripples throughout the beast's face as his body was launched back a few meters. Koji withdrew his fist then proceeded in staring at it once more. This strength was not his he was well aware of that, still, he planned to take full advantage of it. His eyes shifted back towards Yasmin who was lying peacefully beside him. He began clenching his teeth and both fists as he unleashed a massive uproar then charged forward.

Eikon quickly regained his footing. He began entering his stance the moment Koji had appeared before him. Their fists met simultaneously as the two began exchanging blows against one another. Koji's speed had increased as his body started to become more acclimated to it's newfound strength. He performed a swift leg sweep under Eikon's feet then summoned his Kunasta to follow up with an arching slash against the beast's torso.

In quick haste, Eikon deflected the slash with his left bladed fist whilst in midair. He then proceeded with a roundhouse kick from his left leg while he held up his body from the ground with his right hand. It almost looked as if the beast was about to perform some sort of break dance as he followed up with another kick towards Koji.

The boy swayed back slightly in attempts to avoid the first kick, then raised his blade to shield himself from the second. He then thrust his blade forward towards the center of the beast chest cavity but Eikon wouldn't allow it. The dragon raised both of his bladed fists to shield himself from the piercing strike causing sparks to fly in various directions. Koji stared into Eikon intensely as he unleashed another uproar while pushing the beast back with his strength.

"Dammit, what's going on. He shouldn't have been this strong just from transforming!" Eikon shouted with clenched teeth. Eikon could feel the ominous energy that radiated from off Koji but couldn't decipher where it was coming from.

He knew that if he wanted to have a chance in winning this fight, he would have to defeat Koji as soon as possible. He mustered up the remaining strength he had left and broke the stalemate between him and the boy. He then thrust his right blade forward, aiming directly at Koji's head. The boy, however, quickly shifted his head to the right slightly, accepting the cut that was created on his cheek from Eikon's blade, then proceed with an upward strike that launched the beast back a few meters.

Blood began dripping from the freshly made wound on Koji's face. He wiped it off immediately then returned to his stance. Eikon, however, had suffered a much more devastating wound against his abdomen. The blood had gurgled forth and spilled onto the heated soil below as he raised himself to his feet while holding his right hand against the wound.

"That girl's last attack had weakened my armor severely, to think I've been damaged by a dull rusted blade like that..." Eikon's panting became heavy. His mind began running through multiple scenarios as he thought up ways to ending Koji's life.

Koji, however, had already thought up an elaborate way to finish Eikon once and for all. He shifted his gaze towards the right of him and saw the severed dragon's head laying beside him. He ushered up a crafty grin as he eased his stance which caused confusion to rise within Eikon, you could see it swelling on his face.

"This is it dragon, I now have the weapon that's capable enough to destroy you," said Koji.

"Don't get cocky brat, although your blade is very impressive it pales in comparison to my armor at it's max level!" Eikon unleashed a massive roared as his body began to harden. A regular strike would no longer have any effect on him, instead, the strike may end up resulting in the blade's destruction.

A thunderous laughter erupted from within Eikon as he held his hands outward with his palms up. He knew he had victory in the bag for he no longer could receive any damage for some time. "This is the pinnacle of dragon power, for fifteen minutes my body would remain untouchable. There's nothing you can do to stop me!" Eikon noticed Koji strolling towards the severed dragon head and began questioning his motive. "What are you planning..." he stated with a disgruntled look upon his face.

"Tell me dragon, have you ever heard of the blade known as Dragon's Blade?" Koji questioned while reaching for the severed head that laid on the ground.

"Dragon's Blade?" Eikon retorted with a look on uneasiness swelling within his face. "That blade no longer exists, what's the point in mentioning its name?"

"The blade was forged from the worlds toughest metal, Kaitin, the newest allow extracted from the meteorite that landed so many years ago. The creator of the blade however was never able to control it's power. The blade would infect anyone who touched it's hilt with Ranshio and instantly transform them into fiends."

"If giving a history lesson is your vain attempt to buy yourself some time don't bother, this fight is going to end right now!"

"Relax, I'm almost finished," said Koji while holding onto the dragon's head. "The blade was deemed worthless by it's creator. Even though it had the power to cut through the strongest object there was no point if it couldn't be wielded. The blade needed a strong bonding agent to seal it's power, can you guess what they ended up using as a bonding agent?"

"I have a strong feeling you're going to tell me," Koji placed the severed head against the Kunasta which created a flash of blinding light to occur. He gave off a slight grin as the blade began transforming into a new blade created out of pure Kaitin. The dragon's head became the hilt as the metal stretched out of the severed head's mouth. It was a long sword, skinny but sharp with a slight curve. The mane of the dragon was yellow and the scales were black. It held a golden glow within its eyes as it stared upon it's former master.

"The bonding agent that controlled its power," said Koji while slashing the air before him "was a severed dragon's head, and thus the Dragon's Blade was formed."Eikon eye's swelled as he stared at the Dragon's Blade in amazement. He knew without a doubt this boy possessed the legendary blade that his master was searching for. The blade hummed as Koji maneuvered it around his body. He then entered his stance and readied himself.

"So what, even with the Dragon's Blade you still will not be able to penetrate my armor!"

"Did you missed the part of the story when I said it can cut through the toughest object?" Koji appeared before Eikon instantaneously, catching the beast by surprised as he shifted his gaze downward with a nervous sweat running down the right side of his cheek. The cold metal of the blade was placed against Eikon's throat with just enough force to cut the beast and allow a small drip of blood to run down it's surface. Koji's devious grin had spread across his face the moment he saw the blood dripping off his blade. With his point proven, he instantly vaulted back with his blade held before him. "Well dragon, make your move."

Anger and frustration rose within Eikon as he began to grit his teeth tightly while giving off a snarling stare unto Koji. He unleashed a massive battle cry as he charged forward towards the boy with both of his bladed fists held outward to his side. Once he had arrived before Koji, Eikon pulled back his right fist then thrust forward towards Koji's midsection.

In quick haste, Koji parried the bladed strike by sliding his blade against Eikon's. He then proceeded in spinning the blade before hacking off Eikon's right arm. The Dragon's Blade had penetrated through Eikon's armor with ease as the dragon stood still in shock after watching his right arm land a few meters away.

A look of worry swelled within Eikon's face as he instantly enlarged his body and transformed into his dragon form. His six wings started beating against the air beneath them as he lifted himself higher into the sky. He began gathering energy of all eight elements within his mouth like before, preparing for the Elemental Break.

Koji's eyes widen at the sight of the massive ball of energy forming in Eikon's mouth. He knew there was only one way to counter such an attack. He raised his blade overhead while transferring all his energy into its metal. His Ranshio powers soon faded and the boost he had received from the Fire Fox had faded as well.

"Elemental Break!" Eikon shouted as he unleashed the massive ball of energy down towards Koji.

"Blaze Scar!" Koji cried out as he lashed out and unleashed the massive fiery sword beam filled with Ranshio energy towards Eikon's descending blast. The moment the two blasts had came in contact, a massive explosion occurred within the sky. Koji vaulted up towards the cloud of smoke with one final Blaze Scar still remaining in his blade.

He drew in one final breath as he lashed out the final Blaze Scar the moment he appeared out of the cloud of smoke. The sudden strike had completely caught Eikon off guard as the fiery beam cycled through the beast's chest, ripping the flesh and tearing the tendons. A bellow of pain and agony echoed throughout the island until the blast had finally silenced the dragon for good. Koji instantly fell to his knees as he began releasing a heavy pant from deep within himself. The deed had been done, the Fire Dragon was no more. He looked up to see Eikon's body crashing down before him, lifeless and bloody. The Dragon Claw was still left intact with the beast's left arm. With the remaining strength he had left, Koji raised himself to his feet and approached the still carcass calmly. He swung his blade against Eikon's claws, severing the Dragon Claw and retrieving it for himself. The mystical claw reverted back to its minuscule state as Koji proceeded in placing it inside his back pouch.

"You actually did it..." said the voice of Vincent.

"It's finally over..." Zack had chimed in. The two brothers approached Koji from opposite sides with a look of sorry held upon their face. They both shifted their gazes back to the sleeping beauty that laid a few meters away from them.

"What she did took guts, I guess I owe her an apology after all..." said Vincent.

"Yeah, she's not just some broad after all..." Zack stated with a brief shake of his head.

"Yasmin..." Koji muttered softly. "Let's take her and get out of here..." the two ushered a slight nod as they watched their fellow comrade make his way towards Yasmin. Suddenly, another massive tremor had occurred beneath them as bursts of lava began spewing from the cones of each volcano. Koji quickly regained his footing as he rushed towards Yasmin but was instantly halted within his steps by the sudden cracks that appeared within the earth.

"Koji we have to get out of her fast!" Vincent shouted while shielding his face from the heat that was being emitted.

"I'm not leaving without her!" Koji retorted as he tried to proceed but was instantly held back by Zack. The ground before him started to break apart and crumble, separating Yasmin from the group.

Koji began gritting his teeth while trying to escape Zack's grasp. "Let me go!" He demanded.

"Koji it's too late, there's nothing we can do we have to get out of here!" Zack replied.

"I'm not leaving her dammit, now let me go!"

"Sorry kid," said Vincent. He chopped the backside of Koji's neck with his right hand and knocked the boy unconscious almost immediately. He felt bad for leaving Yasmin but there was no other way. He quickly placed Koji on his back and rushed towards the exit with Zack following steadily behind.

"Koji..." Yasmin stated softly as she opened her eyes slightly to find herself left alone with nothing but rock and lava surrounding her. She knew that this was the end for her, the boy who she had come to love had left her to die alone. Regret had entered her heart instantly as a stream of tears ran down her cheeks.

Just when she had finally accepted her fate, she felt the presence of an unknown entity standing before her. She opened her eyes slowly once more to see a stream of red lightning flashing before her very eyes.

"Who...who are you?" She asked softly, as she stared up at the mysterious entity that stood before her.
