Chapter 16 - New arrivals pt3

Axel fell asleep as the rest of the prospects took the tests related to their abilities. Between those who passed, were 10 mages including Axel and Adeline, 3 cultivators, an enchantor, 2 alchemists, a knight, an assassin and twin monks. All varying races between humans to elves.

Axel looked over to the other side and saw 2 high elves with with a strange half wolf half human hybrid and 2 other humans. "Whats that creature Kate?" Axel pointing at the hybrid. "That is a hybrid that came from a monster and human. They aren't uncommon but they are made fun of along with half elves, vampires and werewolves because they are different and all are half breed or sub class of 2 or more races." Axel shrugged to Adeline's quick lesson and didn't see a problem with sub humans and other creatures existing along side them.

Miss Dunson walked up to the crowd of those who passed. "Congratulations on passing the test to join our academy as the new class. We will assign you to your rooms respectively." After the group followed Miss Dunson, everybody went up to their rooms to settle in.

Axel was assigned a room on the 5th floor. The room connected to his bedroom was very large with a 12 ft by 12 ft door for him to use with clove. Then he checked the next room connected to his bedroom. It was a study that also had a training dummy and weapon rack. He also found his closet next to that door. He opened it and saw it was 4ft by 6ft. More than what he thought he needed.

Adeline was on the 3rd floor with similar arrangements. Though she had a bigger wardrobe and a smaller space for Kindred. Plus a small arsenal for however her abilities can evolve. She was on the same floor as the 18 others of her class with Axel being an exception with his wyvern.

Each dorm housed occupants in a simple way. the newer students got the left side of the buildings. Plus whatever floor they were assigned to with a familiar, if their path let them have one like Axel and Adeline, to house said familiar.

There were 5 dorm buildings in all. Each building to the right was an upgrade from the previous. Students were allowed to bet their rooms for better living conditions. Or they could get better living conditions with high proficiency in many areas.

Axel got settled in his new temporary home. Then summoned Clover and flew over the road to the market. He had Clove increase their altitude to see where the market was in respect to where the dorms were. After the getting an idea of where the dorms were, Clove landed before dissapearing into the rune on Axel's shoulder.

'Barber, barber, barber', "AH!" Axel went in and viewed what options were available. Nothing seemed to catch his eye, so he made a request for something new, "Excuse me, sir."

The man turned around while wiping his straight edge clean. He had a clean shaving face with his blonde hair slicked back with grease. He seemed to be in his mid 20s with a petite muscular build. "How can i help ya sonny?"

Axel threw his hands in his pockets as he approched the man, "Can i request a custom haircut?" The man laughed and patted Axel's back, inviting him into a chair. "What ya got in mind?" Axel thought for a minute, "Can i get a high skin fade that will complement a wolf tail?"

The barber nodder and went to work. After half an hour, the barber was finished. "Is this what ya had in mind sonny?" Axel nodded before paying the man 5 coins.

'Now i need to find out what martial art i can use for my fighting style.' Axel knew that he was lacking in close combat with his last battle. As he left the shop he saw Adeline walking by. "Hey Kate!" Adeline turned around and saw Axel's new haircut. "Wow. That's one way to fix your hair. What are ya doing now?" Axel nodded. "Im gonna find some new clothes. Have you found any shops yet?"

Adeline pointed to the tailor 2 shops down the road. Axel nodded and ran over while waiving to Adeline. When he entered the shop, he saw an enormous selection of outfits and individual clothes. He looked into his bag and saw he only had 20 coins left. He sighed as he turned to walk out of the shop.

"Excuse me boy!" A woman that looked to be in her 20s yelled out from behind the counter. She was slim with white hair in a ponytail. Her eyes were green and had a slight tan pigment on her face. "I saw you sigh at your pouch. There are cheaper outfits in the back of the store if you are interested." Axel nodded and went where she suggested. The outfits weren't as good as the ones in the front of the store but their price was extremely cheap. Axel saw a complete black outfit with a hodd and mask combo. He looked at the tag and saw it cost 1 coin to his surprise. The outfits in the front cost 10 to 30 coins for single items of clothing. He took the black outfit and ran up to the counter.

Once he was out of the store, he summoned Clove and flew back to his dorm room. When he changed he stepped out to the mirror above the sink and saw it was a perfect fit. He went to visit Adeline on the 3rd floor for a while before heading to bed for the evening.

The next day, everyone was supposed to get student ID cards that also functioned as a GPS. Axel met up with evryone outsode of the dorms and waited for Miss Dunson to arrive. Once she did, she lead them to the first floor of the building and started issuing students their cards.

"Ok. Now that everyone has an ID card, just tap the back to pull up your GPS function. Just tell it where you want to go and you will be provided a path. Now for your inventory. Place your hand on this glyph, one at a time. This will give you a personal inventory that will stay with you for the rest of your life."

Axel placed his hand on the glyph and felt his mind broaden with an empty space. 'So it is a mental inventory...' Axel concentrated on his bag in hand and in a moments notice, it appeared in his mental space.

Miss Dunson glanced at Axel for a second before she continued, "Your inventory space can be expanded as a prize in certain events. Your inventory will never be smaller than what it is now. And before you leave here, know that extra inventory space can be won from fights at the arena with any student on campus. Just don't do it without a teacher being your referee."

Adeline poked Axel and gave him a scroll, "This is so you can do more with your sword and not waste magic like you did with the Wyvern." Axel sighed as he took the scroll and silently thanked Adeline.

Miss Dunson pulled Axel aside after everyone got their personal inventories and looked at his haircut. "Hmmm.... I guess that can work. Did none of the hairstyles listed catch your eye Izaak?" Axel looked up to her, annoyed and replied, "This is from my culture Miss. And none of what i saw interested me or is from my culture."

Miss Dunson annoyed now, "Go get it cut again. Men dont wear small ponytails with their head shaved like that. You look ridiculous."

Axel gave off a lot of his aura unintentionally as he was loosing his patience, "No I wont. You can't deprive me from cultural practices. Some of the Jarls under the High King have this haircut and one has a long ponytail with this haircut. And if someone like the Jarls can wear their hair like this, then so can I."

Miss Dunson huffs at Axel's aura as she listens to him. "Your aura is cute Izaak. If thats the extent of your aura, then i would call your fight with the Wyvern i accidentally summoned a fluke. And if thats why you wear your hair like a fool, then so be it."

Axel smirked at Miss Dunson, 'If only you knew the extent of my power. Then you would keep your comments to yourself.' "I'll make a bet with you Miss. I'll attend all 7 magic schools and the 2 elective classes I need. And I will take your wyvern on again without my Clove helping."

Miss Dunson nodded though she was confused to why he would take all 7 classes of magic. "Ok Izaak. You have 1 semester to learn everything you can. And you can not use your wyvern until the second semester if you can beat the summoned wyvern on your own. If you can't handle it, I will stop the fight and you will be suspended and be moved to a basic mage room in your building. And this will be your mid-term test. And mind if i ask why all 7 Magic classes? You can only use 3 types if i remember right."

Axel lost his smirk as Miss Dunson set the parameters for his mid-term for not watching how he spoke to her. Then he gave a hint of what he is vaguely before summoning Clove to stretch its wings, "Miss, I want to learn about other magics so I can defend myself better from them." Then added, "and I dont know if I am maxed out on the number of elements I can use."

Miss Dunson huffed and walked away. Axel sighed heavily and turned around to Adeline and some new students peaking around the corner. "Izakk!!! Are you insane?", Adeline whispered as Miss Dunson walked off. The other 2 students nodded at Axel as Adeline was worried about him.

"I will be ok Kate. I just have to study hard," Axel said before he whispered to Adeline, "And i am not gonna use just 3 elements anymore. I am going to make Miss Dunson eat her words." Adeline sighed at Axel before the 2 other students cheered Axel on.

"Hey Izaak, my name is Thall. I hope i can study with you. I am a lightning mage. As you can tell I am a half elf. My twin brother here is a light mage." Thall said as he and his twin walked up to Axel.

"I am a light and earth mage, Thall. By the way Izaak, I am Thorn, Thorn Swen. Yes we are identical twin half elves. The only difference between Thall and I, is that my ears are an inch longer than his."

Axel smiled and returned the greetings to them with Adeline. Then before the conversation could keep going, Axel excused himself so he can prepare as much as he can for his mid-term in 3 months.
