The sun rose as the beginning of a new day came, the originally quiet city was now bustling with life. The guards took turns as they walked back and forth monitoring everything happening outside the huge walls which protected the City.
The people inside the city free to live their lives as they started opening their businesses for the day.
Stretching as he woke up, Ray found the moment of waking up and seeing the sunrise to be the most beautiful thing in the world now. The world had fallen but it's beauty still remained. Wasting no time, he walked to the window as he opened his curtains to let the morning sun in.
Without delay, he began to handle his usual morning chores as in a very efficient manner, in less than thirty minutes he was done with washing his dirty clothes from the day before, as well as cleaning his little room before making his way to take his bath.
This was as normal anything could be since the apocalypse started, in the beginning humans found it hard to survive but time only made they thrive.
…
"I need to look for another job to do" thought Ray as he ate his simple breakfast of scrambled eggs and bread with a cup of tea, this was also a luxury too.
"What about the gargantuan?" wondered Ray as he constantly thought of different things.
"Just focus on a single thing" he said to himself aloud. "I'll get a job from the Hunters Association but before then I need to stock up on supplies" he said as he glanced at his empty cabinet
…
"It has been years now but there's nothing more tiring than shopping for supplies" thought Ray as he sighed.
"I still need to pay the electric bill" said Ray as he put his supply bag on the table.
Although it had been over a hundred years since the apocalypse, there's still electricity, automobiles and guns although the automobiles are owned by people with power as for the guns although people could be found with guns they mostly preferred Blades, Ax's and the sorts since zombies had an insane hearing ability, that didn't mean that there was none. The fastest way to grow in wealth was to join a powerful family or faction that engaged in lots of commercial activities from receiving missions from the heads of cities in exchange for money or special favors.
Picking up his keys, he headed for the Hunter's Association to get a new job.
"Kid, over here" called Victor the moment he saw Ray walk into the building of the Hunters Association.
The Hunter's Association building was a luxurious skyscraper which housed other hunters as well as different floors for the different departments needed to keep the Hunter's Association running.
"Good morning Victor" greeted Ray as he approached him, "What's new?" he asked.
"Oh, it's nothing much I just found someone who wants to sell his bike" said Victor in an unhurried manner.
Instantly Ray's attention was on him fully
"You really know how to surprise someone" said Ray with a huge smile on his face.
"I told you I could find anything" replied Victor with a smug look on his face.
Ray had known Victor for four years and the one he's sure of is that victor is a man of many connections and he always has trustworthy information sources.
"It seems so, how much is he selling the bike for?" asked Ray immediately as he looked at him.
"A couple of thousands" replied Victor.
"Ok, I've got about Ten thousand budgeted for the bike" said Ray as he looked at Victor as he probed whether it would be enough.
"You still need a couple more" said Victor as he shook his head, "But no problem I could lend you the cash you just have to remember to pay me" offered Victor.
"There's no need for that, I just need to take a couple more jobs and I'll be able to buy that" said Ray as he declined his offer, "just make sure the bike is not sold till then" said Ray as he winked.
"For you kid, consider it done" said Victor as he bowed.
If someone else was to look at them, they would find it quite weird watching them both, a young man standing tall and proud as a middle-aged man bowed in submission, most people would think he was from one of those factions.
"I need to find a good job" said Ray as he turned around to head to the mission counter.
"No need, I already saved one for you plus it's a low risk mission with a good pay" said Victor as he passed him a flyer.
Usually these flyers are hung on the mission board for hunters to choose from, these flyers were in different colors as the missions were graded.
The Mission were divided into S Class, A class, B class, C class, D class, with S class missions being the hardest and most difficult missions to accomplish and D class the lowest ranked missions. These missions could not be taken by anybody, to take on an S class mission you have to be a certified S Class Hunter and S class hunters could take S class ranked missions and lower while D class hunters could only take on D class missions.
Taking the flyer, he saw that it was exactly as Victor had said, it was a relatively low risk mission even for a D class mission.
"Thanks" said Ray as he walked to the counter to sign up.
"don't mention it" said Victor as he walked out of the Hunter's Association.
…
"Good day, I'll like to sign up for this mission" said Ray to the attendant on ground.
"Let me, me see if the mission has been accomplished or already taken by someone" said the attendant as she took the flyer.
After a couple of minutes, she came back with a smile.
"The mission is currently available" she said, "Will you still continue?" she asked.
"Yeah"
In a few moment she completed the registration of the mission Ray applied for before sending him on his way.
