Chapter 10 - REWIND ME - CHAPTER 10

I feel bad. I have abdominal pain and have been vomiting since early this morning. I don't want to disturb my companions here because of the pain I feel. I laid in my bed and tried to fall asleep again but no matter how I try, I couldn't fall asleep. These symptoms started the past few days and now the pain is at it's most severe. I didn't tell everyone because I don't want them to worry about me. My stomach twitched in pain and I don't know what to do. I left my room again and went to the kitchen to vomit. It's almost 11 in the morning but my companions are not yet awake. My feet were also weakening but I still manage to walk even if it is slow.

"What's wrong? what happened to you?." Leighton said and was behind me. He was awake and he even saw me in this situation. I just kept quiet because I didn't really know what to answer. So I just avoided and left him. I was close to the door of my room when I saw blood on my hands. I looked at my reflection on my phone and to my surprise, my nose is bleeding! Then I suddenly loose may sense and it all went black.

...

"Where am I? Why am I here.?." I asked Leighton because I was lying in a hospital bed. Leighton looked at me while holding my hand.

"Are you ok? Is anything wrong with you? I can call the doctor." I could see the worry in his eyes because of my condition. But instead of showing that I was weak, I smiled. He took my hand and kissed it. He started crying and I don't know why.

"You have a chronic kidney disease, Natasha." Leighton said and my tears flow. I could not speak because of what he just said. He also cried and I could see in his eyes that he was sad.

"The doctor performed a series of tests and came out that you have a chronic kidney disease." Leighton added. He hugged me and looked into my eyes and wiped away my tears. At this time, I only think of the people around me who are worried.

"I will be here every step of the way. I will not leave you and I will take care of you." He said and kissed my forehead. I just nodded in response.

"Kidney transplant is the only solution and your family is willing to donate a kidney. But they have to undergo some tests to know who is compatible." It hurts to know everything. I've been feeling these symptoms for a long time. All I know is that it is just a simple disease that can be treated because I had no idea it was this serious. It hurts to see Leighton worrying about me, especially my parents.

"Let's eat, don't think too much about your illness. As long as I'm with you, you'll be fine." He said and winked. He happily took the bowl on the table and handed it to me. I'm lucky because I'm surrounded by positive people like Leighton. I'm willing to fight against this disease as long as Leighton is by my side.

"Oatmeal and blueberries?." I said and was saddened by what Leighton was going to give me.

"You are not allowed to eat certain foods, so I will be your personal chef and I will prepare all your foods. Don't you want to be healed and marry someone like me?" Leighton said confidently as he pointed to himself. I laughed at what he said.

"I want to get better but marry someone like you? Well, I'll think about it." I said and pretended to be thinking of something. I immediately saw Leighton's mood change so I laughed out loud.

"Just kidding." I said. He was having fun with me and I didn't seem to feel sick. He eases the pain I feel by being a positive.

"It tastes so good." He said and ate oatmeal that seemed so delicious in front of me. I know he's just cheering me up because I don't want to eat the foods he prepared. I started eating even though the oatmeal he gave me didn't really taste much.

We can leave the hospital later. The doctor prescribed me medicines to relieve my pain. We will be returning to Manila because our vacation is also over. Hospitals are better there so it's ok to be away from my family. And I also have a job, as Martell's secretary. Lyra was left behind and only the three of us traveled back to Manila. She said she will be coming to Manila next week and needs to stay for a while in the province.
