Sam woke the next day to find that Rose only burrowed into him even more. She now laid on top of him instead of next to him. Her curly hair was a mess of a tangle along the arm that cradled her.
He decided not to move until she woke, which took longer than he had thought. The early morning light came and went as the sky turned to blue. Every once in a while, Sam would feel her stir, but then she just nestled back against his neck. He remained patient as he watched the rythmic rise and fall of her chest as she breathed, each breath warmed his neck, yet sent goosebumps down his spine.
Though she was sleeping, her mouth seemed to move closer and closer to him, each movement a silent torture to him. One of two things needed to happen in that moment. Either he woke her up, or try to get out from under her. Though that's what he told himself, neither happened. Before he could move, gentle kisses were planted against the crook of his neck. He could feel her heartbeat through her scrubs as it began to beat faster. She began nipping instead, her mouth seemed to come more insistant after each kiss, until she began to suck more fiercly. Sam groaned as he fought to control himself.
Before anything more could happen, he gently stroked her cheek. "Rose." He said softly. "Rose, wake up."
As if beckoned by his words, Rose's eyes fluttered open. At first she was confused, yet then realization hit her when she looked at his neck. She had left a lovers mark against his skin. Extra dark against the afternoon light. Her face flushed a shade darker. "Oh my god," she exclaimed, putting her hand to her mouth. She could still taste the coppery tinge of blood that rose to the surface when she sucked on his throat. "I am so sorry." She jumped to her feet and went to the bathroom.
"Wait, Rose!" Sam got to his feet to follow after her. The door shut right before he could reach her. "It's okay, Rose. Really." He said softly. "You were just having a dream, I woke you the moment you started-"
"Attacking your neck?" She finished for him, a soft cry coming through the door. "I am so sorry Sam. You hardly remember who you are, and you're dealing with so much right now." She sobbed. "I didn't have the right."
"You didn't even know what you were doing." He countered as he put his back to the wall next to the door. "I understand. Trust me."
Rose opened the door slightly. "It's just been so long, I didn't think that would happen."
He could still hear a tremor in her voice as she tried to get him to understand, yet he realized that he wasn't the one that needed to be convinced. "We have spent a lot of time together these past months, Rose." He waited until the door opened a little more before drawing her close. He put his arms around her and held her tight. "So we have a little chemistry," he said a little playfully. "That doesn't mean anything has to happen. Not unless it is something you want."
"You just moved in, Sam." She looked up into his eyes as her arms fell from around his neck. "I don't think we've spent enough time together to know what we want."
"I know what I want right now." Sam smiled affectionately as he looked down at her mess of hair. He let her go reluctantly and went to the kitchen. "I want to make you breakfast, and then I want to get out of here. We've got a lot of things to do today, and the weekend is not as long as it seems." He grabbed a skillet and a few pieces of bread. "Would you like an omelette, or eggs over easy?"
Rose wiped her eyes and watched as Sam cooked up her breakfast. Usually she would still be asleep as he cooked. It was a nice change of pace to be able to watch the magic happen.
Sam cooked up a double batch so they could eat together. He knew things wouldn't be as care free now that Rose's affections towards him were known, yet he didn't shy away. This was a new life that had been gifted to him by some entity, or a random twist of fate. Either way, something put Rose into his life. In his eyes, he was the better for it.
After breakfast, Sam cleaned up the table while Rose went for a shower. She had fallen asleep right after dinner last night and didn't have the chance to clean up. While she did, Sam went outside and did his early workout routine. He had to find some way to get rid of some of the pent up energy he had gained from the morning's activities before he went insane.
