Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

In the end, we decided to split the work and then present the completed work tomorrow at lunch, in the library.

Lunch came along and I found myself sitting on an isolated table in the corner of the hall. The loud chatter overlapped with other loud voices made it hard to concentrate on just about anything.

I bit into my apple while looking through my bag for an envelope.

Where was it? Ah! Found it.

I placed it in front of me and it was quickly seized by a hand decorated with long neon acrylic nails.

Jennifer lemoz, my cousin, who grabbed it, frowned, her hazel eyes stared at the money in the envelope sceptically.

"Nothing's missing is it?" She asked in a high pitched voice making sure anybody in a 5 metre radius could hear her.

"No cousin" I replied back in her pitched voice causing her to frown and gathering a few giggles from passerby's.

"It better not!" And with that she strutted away, her dirty blonde locks swaying behind her.

I quickly finished the apple and made my way up to the library but as I grabbed my bag my eyes met with someone. Someone who had glaring holes into me this whole time.

George sat around his friends who goofed around, while he himself sat stoic faced as he glared at me. The tone in his eyes was obvious, disgust.

I ignored it, going about my day as usual.

School passed by at its normal slow rate and soon I found myself walking home. I opened the front door hesitantly, hoping nobody was home.

"Took you long enough didn't it!" A middle aged woman with familiar hazel eyes and dark hair shouted. Her face twisted in a scowl obviously directed at me.

"Sorry Aunt Clair!" I knew it wouldn't calm her.

"Don't call me aunt! And go get the laundry done! This whole house needs a sweep" she complained as I went off at the list of chores that never finished.

The next day came along agonisingly slow.

I lay in bed listening to my alarm clock go off, not bothered by the constant vibrations.

I don't want to go to school.

But I got up and soon headed towards the building of every teenagers demise.

When lunch came along I eat an apple as I leaned against my chair. A chair pulled up in front of me and a curly dirty blonde sat there, her hazel eyes glared at me in annoyance. Right... I forgot.

I pulled out some cash and placed it in front of her and she grabbed at it annoyed.

"Late" she deadpanned. I shrugged in return.

"The next time this happens-!", she started to rant, but a chair was pulled up next to me and her face paled.

George Dame glared at her and then at me.

"Me and the nerd are already on our way up, you waiting for Christmas Hamper?", The joke wasn't even a joke; it was a threat. Jennifer left quickly and I stood up, throwing my finished apple in the bin and following George up the stairs in silence.

"God it was just my fucking luck i got paired up with a loser like you", he groaned. I narrowed my eyes in return. What made him think I wanted to be here?

We came in and immediately spotted the charismatic Kevin. He stood out among the crowd of underwhelming teenagers with his pristine appearance.

"Ah you guys are finally here?", he stood up and beamed at us.

He smiled at me a bit longer causing me to take an unconscious step back.

"Hamper sit down already", George barked even though I was already sitting. He seemed to hate me already.

I passed the work I've already finished to him first, instead of Kevin causing him to double take. He must've thought I'd be scared of him, but if he thought he was more scary than psychopath over here, he was dead wrong.

"Here", I got passed Kevin's paper and my hands avoided his as much as possible.

I stared at the context and my eyes widened. Amazing his work was so perceptive.

"Kevin... this is...good", I finally raised my eyes to meet his. My face probably looked weird because he laughed.

"Take a look at George's", I passed Kevin's work to George and looked at the context of George's.

Again my eyes were filled with wonder and disbelief.

"Did you seriously look through books? Amazing", I said and George grunted.

"Yours ain't too bad either".

"I second that".

We all worked pretty diligently getting most the work done, eventually, George broke the heavy silence.

"That Jenny girl or whatever her name... Why do you take shit from her?", it was random and out of the blue. I contemplated ignoring it

"She's my cousin and I live with her so I'd rather not live awkwardly" I answered as I skimmed through my work once more.

"You guys don't look alike at all..." George muttered.

"Yeah I'm much better looking" I answered with a smile. I heard a chuckle besides from Kevin.

"So should we study next at mines" Kevin proposed. My blood ran cold.

"Sure", George quickly said, to which Kevin smile satisfied and then turned to me.

If it carried on like this I might end up too involved!

"How about a library?", I said hesitantly. Hopefully, they'll agree.

George sneered.

"Fuck that. It's his house. He's like super-rich we could probably swim in his pool or something?", George grinned excitedly.

"Be my guest", Kevin smiled.

"Saturday?" George asked.

I shook my head.

"I got work all day", it wasn't a lie.

"Sunday then?", Kevin also seemed excited.

"I'm free in the afternoon", I reluctantly said. I can just lie and say I can't come later on or something.

"Perfect", Kevin smiled and George nodded.

Suddenly we were all exchanging numbers and making a group chat. Kevin wrote in his address and that was it.

I was drained.
