It was Sunday and I just got off work.
We weren't allowed to use our phones during our shift so I usually shut it off. The usual excitement I would feel to turn on my phone was non-existent.
It was 1 pm, the meeting time. I gulped on dry spit.
Needless anxiety caused tremors all over me as I made my way home. George's reaction was really giving me a hard time and I hadn't even seen it yet. Then there was Kevin, he could be butchering George.
No- no, George could handle himself! Right? Argh!
I pulled out my phone and pressed the power button, chewing on my lower lip at the possible messages.
The screen flashed with 2 sole messages.
'do you need a lift?"- George
'Should we wait for you or get on?' - Kevin
I groaned as a 'seen' sign appeared below their messages. Why did I freak out?
A call suddenly came through - 'George Dame' flashed brightly on my screen making me yelp.
I trembled whilst holding the phone almost dropping it. I pressed the accept call and held it to my ear.
"Where are you?", the question was short and imperative, causing me to look around.
"Um... xxx street?", I answered.
"Is that a question?!", he shouted.
"N-no sir!", I stuttered and a laugh followed on the other line and then the line died.
I didn't dare move. Ten minutes passed. Then twenty.
I looked at my phone. There were no messages since that call.
Did they kill each other?
I was ready to get moving, but a bike suddenly stopped in front of me. I glanced at the biker curiously and almost choked.
There sat George, with his green tinted black leather jacket. He had a scowl on his face and his eyes looked ready to murder me.
"Get on" it was a demand and I quickly complied.
"Sorry I didn't think you'd come over" I started.
"We need you if we want to finish the work and I don't want to continue doing it after today", it was a logical argument, the faster it was finished the better. "But that guy... he was disappointed that you weren't there...".
I felt a chill run down my spine. A dizzy spell overtook me causing me to grab onto George's jacket.
My plans of reaching the age of eighteen came to an abrupt halt.
"H-how So?" I felt a prickle of curiosity but it was reciprocated with a sneer and groan.
"Just ask him" and thus began an awkward ride of endless silence except a few yelps from me at just about every bump which seemed to infuriate George.
"We're here" I heard a growl from him and quickly relaxed my arms that clung to him and hopped off. I felt a slight blush of embarrassment on my face.
"Are you coming!?" I furrowed my brows at the boy I was following. He sure was mad...
"Fucking idiot" loud enough for me to hear.
I finally noticed the house in front of me and my jaw almost fell out.
It wasn't a castle but damn... his house was huge and carefully managed, surrounded by beautifully decorated trees. A flower garden filled with roses of different colours sat to the right. I sucked in a breath as I quickly followed after the ticking time bomb in front of me.
"This house is huge!" I gushed while he clicked his tongue as the front door finally swung open to reveal a smiling captivating blonde boy.
Something about his smile made my blood run cold, making me rethink the tour I wanted to ask for.
"Your here! come in and make yourself at home . There's nobody here so it's pretty peaceful" he smiled and I casually walked in while George stomped in or maybe his boots were just heavy?
My hand held my phone in my pocket with emergency call directly on the screen. It calmed me, yet still made me more aware of the chances of never leaving this place -alive that is.
"Oi blondie go over what we did with the nerd I'm gonna head for a swim" he ran off leaving me behind, my hand awkwardly twitched in an attempt to stop him. It was futile.
"Let's go to the living room, Elliot" I shivered at the way he said my name, barely containing my fear.
He lead me to a set of large wooden doors, carved finely and coated in a seemingly new coat of gloss. He opened one door and let me into a large cosy looking room adorned with a chandelier that held hundreds of sharp diamonds. The sofas, however where comfy looking and the floor was draped with a large thick rug and finally the most interesting thing in the room was the fire place made of black marble and held by two pillars of diamond glass? Was it diamond? I gulped a bit scared to ask.
I spied the papers spewed over the long coffee table.
"Here just read over this and put in what you did. I'm here in case you have any questions" he smiled pointing towards a pile of papers which I quickly invested myself into. The faster I do this, the faster I leave.
A stare drilled into me as I diligently worked. It wasn't distracting... no it was a bit distracting. Soon I ripped my gaze off the papers and returned the iron stare.
He didn't stop staring instead he brung up an unexpected topic.
"Why are you scared of me?" It was like my blood stopped flowing. My body froze.
"W-what are you talking about? I'm not scared of you haha" I laughed off awkwardly, causing a look of annoyance to flicker over Kevins face.
He leaned in closer to me causing me to lean back.
"Your the only one who seems scared of me out of all those ignorant people" it was like his masked dropped. Something in my stomach did alongside it.
I was silent hoping that maybe if I concentrated on finishing the work he could end the conversation.
He grabbed my hand to stop me from writing anything and my brushed against one of the bracelets that messily topped each other on his arm.
A dreamlike vision passed through my mind overtaking my sight.
A man's face was the first thing I saw. Eyes wide with shock as they stared at a young boy who was hugging him. His mouth trembled, blood poured out from his lips in red globs.
The boy let go of him leaving the knife he stabbed in his back in plain sight.
I gasped as I wretched my hand away from him quickly. My heart beat was the only thing that I could hear when my sight came back.
Kevin's expression was only that of interest when I snapped my head towards him.
What the hell was that?
I felt bile rise in my throat
