Chereads / Irene Max / Chapter 7 - Teleportation_7

Chapter 7 - Teleportation_7

Mrs. Dilica announced my team as the winner, and everyone came up to me, giving me high-fives. However, the girl I had pushed just rolled her eyes and walked back to their group, grumbling under her breath.

Next, we had teleportation, which I was actually quite excited about. It was my first time teleporting, and I had heard that you could eat a special kind of sweet that would interact with the magical particles in the air known as Solaria. It's like oxygen but with magical properties.

The sweet causes Solarian particles in the air to burst through your body, responding to your mind's command.

"Girls, please get in line quickly," Mrs. Dilica impatiently said, tapping her foot. Her face was turning blue with anger.

The girls lazily formed a rough line, complaining as we followed the teacher into a very bright room that was almost blinding. There were tiny bags of sweets in brown, green, pink , and dark blue, all very vivid settled on the table.

"These are teleportation sweets," Mrs. Dilica explained. "They work best in bright places and can allow you to teleport up to 12 times a week with just one sweet. You need to have a clear mind and picture of your destination."

This is why teleporting in the dark is less effective.

We nodded in understanding me and the girls glancing at eachother in excitement. But then Lila raised her hand and asked, "But Miss, what happens when the sweets run out? What if we're left to fend for ourselves?"

Mrs. Dilica responded, "That's a good question. The sweets refill every 25 hours, but they choose you first. So, for now, we'll use a test teleportation sweet that requires less concentration."

We approved of the plan. Malkaya and I exchanged smiles, thinking of all the places we could go after school. However, our thoughts were interrupted by Mrs. Dilica.

"Before you jump to conclusions, remember that your mental power determines where you can go, if you have high level concentration and mental level power, you could go anywhere. You might not learn this until you're around 18 years old, but I'll explain it now."

We settled down as Miss Dilica began to explain the levels of mental power. Some individuals have low mental power, indicated by blurry images or no images at all. Sometimes teleported to random places die to their lack of concentration.

However, those with high mental power can even control objects with their minds.

"Wow, that's cool," some girls whispered in awe.

Lila asked, "Does that mean we're teleporting to specific places today, or can we go anywhere?"

"You can teleport to three places, but only for 30 minutes and under supervision," the teacher answered.

Malkaya whispered to me, "30 minutes and supervised? Miss Dilica sure knows how to make it sound boring."

We lined up, ready to eat the practice sweets. I was especially excited because I wanted to teleport to the hospital to see my mom.

Chatter erupted from each side of the line, as girls discussed visiting loved ones, family members, and famous places. Or travelling to countries or places that they would of never had the money to be able to visit. Some girls near me boastfully chatted that they would visit idol concerts, or a celebrity's home. Some even suggested preposterous things.

Miss Dilica dismissed some wild ideas and imposed restrictions. No visiting famous people's places unless they were related or restricted areas.

Which left some girls feeling dejected.

Girls popped colorful sweets into their mouths. Some transformed into pink puffs and disappeared, leaving a timer in the air. I scanned the boys' side which was a distance away for Julian, but didn't spot him. He might've gone to the restroom.

I looked at Malkaya. She seemed nervous, but I was even more anxious, despite the fact that I was heading home. My mind wanted excitement and fun, as the thought of swallowing a sweet that would take you where ever you mind wanted, was a dream come true.

My mind wanted lots of things and fun places; like Hover Park in Xelana city of Iberia North of Tyleria one of the best parks. But my heart longed to see my mom. Which would win?

Malkaya closed her eyes, dropped the sweet into her mouth, and winced. A single tear glistened at the edge of her eye as she disappeared in a swirl of glittery smoke.

Miss Dilica reminded us, "Every sweet had a unique taste based on our personalities and desires. So think well before setting your mind on where you want to go. Some will be sugary sweet, while others might taste as bitter as coal."

I was terrified. I was next. As I stood there staring at the colorful sweet in front of me, the girl behind me nudged me impatiently.

I inhaled deeply, biting my lip so hard that I tasted the sour, bitter tang of blood. I picked up the unusual-looking pink sweet, shaped like a peanut. I then focused my eyes squeezed shut, I imagined clearly the hospital desk as I put the sweet in my mouth. The taste started off sweet but soon turned even sweeter, almost too much to handle. Then it started to taste bitter

Then a sensation occured through my body, rushing into my veins. A surge of new blood pumped into my heart. Suddenly, I found myself in front of a hospital. Relief washed over me; I was finally going to see my mom. My worry mixed with excitement.

Entering the hospital, I went unnoticed as I approached the front desk. Even the worker didn't acknowledge me until I knocked. She looked up and asked plainly, "Are you looking for Seline Max?"

Smiling, I replied, "Yes, that's right. I'm Irene Max."

She nodded and guided me down an empty hallway to a room. After she left, I gently opened the door with a creak. My mom lay on a bed, and Julian was beside her, tear streaks on his face.

"Julian, you came to the hospital during school? Boy, oh boy," I exclaimed, hugging him immediately. His expression was defeated, and when he tried to speak, no words came out.

We sat beside my mom and talked to her as if she were awake. "Mom, can you hear us? If you can, I want you to know that we miss you so much, and wherever you are, come back soon please," I whispered.

I held my mother's soft, fragile hands, feeling a deep sadness welling up inside me. Unable to speak, I let Jullian continue talking to her while I cradled her hand in my lap. "Please wake up, Mom. I know you're going through a hard time, but we love you," he said, tears in his eyes and his voice trembling.

I would do anything for her to come back, anything. As it had already been a whole week since she had passed out, and today was one of the only days I had gotten to see her, as today we had swapped lessons with the boy's. My mom had always overworked herself and I knew, that we relied heavily on her. She had never been gone for this long and it felt like q bad nightmare.

Feeling weak, a strange urge overwhelmed me. Something spoke to me, offering help. "I know you want her to wake up. I can help you," a voice said.

WOAH! WOAH.. !

Back the hell up, am I in a comic is there a magical speaker in my ear? I said thinking with a frown on my face, as I crinkled my face in confusion looking like scrunched piece of paper.

Confused dismissing my wild thoughts, I looked around, but there was no one else there. "Um, who are you? How are you talking to me?" I asked.

"No time for theories or questions. If you say these three words—Centrao, Mexcde, Efia-kranzo—and kiss her cheek, she will wake up. Goodbye, for now," the voice replied.

A gust of air brushed against my chin, and then everything went pitch black. I couldn't even hear the thumping of my own heart, and I felt nothing, not even the strands of hair that normally hung across my face. A sudden fear washed over me. What was happening? I couldn't understand, because everything was pitch black.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"
