Chapter 4 - cap 4 - Holy Knights

Dylan Branss was in one of his usual drills, had been dropped in the middle of a forest full of magical beasts with his hands tied behind him and only a dagger in his mouth, his teeth were clenched in the hilt that had a long red blade sharpened in just one side, its shape was curved which resembled a scythe, the side that was not sharp served to defend itself and harmed anything sharp that affected it. His master was the most disturbed holy knight of the entire order, his training methods involved leaving the apprentice on the edge of death every day of the year, and it was no different with Dylan who was sentenced to a life of misfortune from the moment they elected you as their pupil. Dylan was a young black man, with dark skin and his hair was white as snow, he had the honey-colored eyes he inherited from his mother.

They found potential in him to be a holy knight when he was ten years old, so he was brought to the order of the Holy Knights, but as he was of a very low class in society, and most people in the knights' order placed a high value on social status falling behind only the strength of the knights, they wanted to get rid of him, so he thought due to all the difficulties he faced. It was extremely rare for a person to be born with the ability to be a knight without being of the nobility. Her parents were vegetable traders in a small village of Lumeraad. Her color and beauty were taken from her mother, who was a foreigner from a very distant land, which Dylan had never heard her speak of. She had white hair like Dylan's and skin much darker than her son's, his father had fair skin and black hair, he had practically nothing taken from him, except that his skin was slightly lighter than his mother's.

Dylan lost his parents when he was eight and lived on the streets until he was ten. It was in one of his attempts to rob for some coins that he was caught by a holy knight, shortly after capturing the dirty boy he identified that he had supernatural strength and reflexes, shortly after Dylan was taken to order to be a knight. All the other apprentices were given masters who had their sanity, but only he had stayed with the mysterious Alek, a holy knight who had a disturbing reputation where none of the newcomers would dare to want to be guided by him.

Dylan didn't know much about Alek, he had heard that no one who had been trained by him stayed more than a day under his tutelage, they all gave up on the first day, so during his two years assigned to teaching new riders none of them supported the weight of his training and remained healthy. Since apprentices were generally from noble families and more than ninety percent had parents who were knights, they could avoid taking Alek as a tutor or changing as soon as they were assigned to him. But for Dylan who had no influence or family, it was either going back to the streets or worse, because the knights were not going to leave a commoner with such deadly skills on the streets and Dylan feared he had no other option.

He always wanted to leave his city, explore the world and be an adventurer; when he lost his parents it was these thoughts that he fed daily, one day he could build a decent memorial where he could honor his parents, keeping the few objects he had kept that represented them. But that was not what he had in mind, becoming a holy knight was something he had never imagined for himself, but he would have to endure for his own sake.

The truth is that anyone who has the aptitude to be a knight has two options, or serves the clan of knights or would go to the imperial guard, but for someone like him who was from one of the lower classes would suffer a lot of restrictions. To be a holy knight, one must be born, both strength and speed, and extinct are like a beast, the body is so strong that it can bear to wield the sacred weapons if a normal human tried he would not even be able to stand and try to release the power the weapon would consume your body.

Knights have a bodily constitution that turns them into real war machines, so there can be no one with these skills that are not controlled or monitored by order. This explained why he was beaten by the other boys when he was on the streets and even though he was much younger he felt almost no pain, and he always managed to escape practically unhurt where he was rarely caught.

Dylan looks at the sky and sees that another day has passed, this is exactly the fifth day that he has his hands tied inside the training forest near the order. Usually, only those who are allowed to enter the forest are those who are in the third year of their training and with at least three partners, but he will only start six lunar cycles, counting the three lunar cycles that he spent idle in order without actually calling him, his experience of nine lunar cycles was becoming unbearable.

He was exposed to such severe training that he thought he would die many times, but his mentor did not care whether he lived or not and each time he completed a task his master got even heavier. He had no break, he was tormented by Alek every day and none of the other apprentices seemed to care for him, they ignored him as the other knights ignored his master. Alek and Dylan were stigmas for the Order of the Holy Knights, so Alek's unorthodox methods were not questioned by anyone.

As far as he knew the master was one of the ten great knights, he did not know what his position was among the ten great, but he seemed to have a lot of enemies among the rest of the order, which made it even more difficult for Dylan, who increasingly had to deal with contemptuous looks. Alek had a sword of legendary level, for having such a weapon and being able to channel the flow of magic through it in battle, he became a target of admiration for all knights, but his little judgment ended up destroying all the respect that the younger ones had. What made Dylan more curious is that he shouldn't be teaching an apprentice, this is a task for other lower-ranking holy knights, one of the ten legendary would never stoop to instructing apprentices so green.

{Hello guys, It's me, that one who knows everything! This is our Dylan, the holy knight of humble origin. Another observation. Dylan is in Heilkutsel territory. The forest he finds is right on the side of that territory. If possible, never fall into the bullshit of entering the Forest of the Beasts, the success rates for you to come back alive are almost nonexistent!}
