Chapter 5 - cap 5 - Mercenary

The day was rainy and a drizzle was falling painfully, bringing a touch of foreboding throughout the city. The streets were gray and fetid from the pungent odors of the residents of that alley, one of the poorest areas of the city. The houses were humble, more built of bricks, since in winter the thick walls were what dictated whether you would live or die. Even though it was summer, the Heilkutsel region was very cold, the rain at that time of year used to give a respite and one could take advantage of the mild and depressive climate of the poorest areas.

However, several torrential spots of rain have been happening lately, which worried the poorest population, as the fieldwork could be lost and an entire crop destroyed, which meant more periods of hunger. This created many problems for agriculture, which could end up increasing the price of food and more people would starve to death. Many say that starvation is the cause of the rampant growth of the commoner population if they didn't have so many children they would have more food, but that was just discussions by rich university philosophers whose only hunger experience was the delay that dessert had to eat. get to your plate.

The rainy weather was very bad for most jobs, but not for Spicer the weather was wonderful. A shadow walked the streets unnoticed. Even if people looked at that boy, they would not be able to distinguish the traits of a mercenary, a murderer hired to end someone's life.

This was his first mission alone and Spicer did not intend to make a mistake. It had been a week since he had been walking those streets and no one had noticed his presence, the hood fell on him well and made no one ask questions and he had already gathered all the information he needed to continue with the mission. But it wasn't just the hood, much less the way he walked, it had something in it that made people give him no more than a brief look and then turned away.

He had been trained and knew how to make people not focus on him, knew how to go unnoticed and hide his presence, as well as how to make his murderous will project itself. This he had learned before he even started his training. If you wanted to live in a world full of monsters, you had to know where to distribute people's focus and use that skill to your advantage.

His target was one of the great mobsters in the city, many avoided talking about him and so it was very difficult to get the necessary information since whoever conspired against him the other day disappeared mysteriously. His target business was human trafficking, women and children were disappearing from the poor areas and sometimes some men. And they all had something in common. They were people of peculiar beauty, like the lis flowers that are born in the mud. One thing was known that if one of your henchmen set eyes on you, he would never be seen again.

Spicer spent the week following them and watching their activities, he saw a child and two women being caught. He didn't care what would happen to them, part of his training was to abstain from his emotions, feelings of pity would only lead to failure and the mission would always be the most important. But that did not prevent him after his mission was over, that he would lie down in the back of his room and cry weeping.

Its target trafficked people to the great powers of the city, exported to other places, to red houses or even to aristocrats who had such peculiar tastes that they preferred to hide their preferences from the rest of society since trade took place under great secrecy this merchant was in great demand.

They ranged from sexual abuse to torture of victims, which made Spicer feel much more focused on fulfilling the mission without any mistakes. Many kept them imprisoned and when they were broken they discarded and ordered more ... Spicer wanted to kill everyone, in the name of everyone who died. But I couldn't; to disobey an order was to dishonor life itself. And to desecrate your god who was punished with death in exchange for money.

That death wouldn't be enough to quench Spicer's bloodlust, but it would have to be enough. They were instructed to value life, so that all the people he killed, however miserable they were, deserved to live. But to remove the rotten fruits from the land, they fell on the strong shoulders of the mercenaries, who received the amount destined to kill only those who deserved it. They earned to kill people, but that didn't mean they were happy to do that job. What was not the case with Spicer, who when punishing a man barely felt excruciating pleasure, taking a person's life brought vigor to the young mercenary.

He wandered a few more streets and saw the typical death merchants, the name by which Spicer called those he had to kill or at least wanted to, kidnapping yet another victim. The girl who was being kidnapped didn't even have time to react, they had already placed a cloth with some tranquilizer between her nose and mouth because soon after the young woman's eyes wandered and closed. Even beneath the layers of sludge acquired for years, you could tell that the young woman was very beautiful, her hair appeared to be brown, but it was difficult to say underneath so much dirt. It had delicate features and would easily cause envy in many noble girls. It was an angel who had decided to live among humans.

Her target's henchmen took her to a carriage that was near the alley and placed the angel-looking girl inside. They just didn't care about kidnapping people in broad daylight and as commoners were seen as animals, rarely would anyone care about what was going on. Many might think that the way poor people were treated was tyranny.

But if you went back in history a little, you would realize that things were never different. There were always the nobles and the rich, and on the other side, the poor and manual workers, in this whole social pyramid, the man was a predator of the man himself. Another difference is that this whole system became more hidden before the nobles took care of these matters personally, but now it has become something shameful, and with no room for the nobility to do such an infamous act, so things happened more confidentially. But in the end, the evil of society continued to perpetuate itself and the system continued to destroy innocent people.

{Hello guys, it's me. that one who knows everything! This is our Spicer, the mercenary of strange origin who did not know his parents. Another observation. Spicer is in the territory of Heilkutsel, which has great influence from the holy knights, in a city near Saariel. I was kind of embarrassed to make Spicer deal with such bad people, but unfortunately, some people do that. Whenever you see something suspicious related to trafficking in women, you can reported it confidentially, or hire Spicer, the success rate for this type of mission is 100%!}
