Within the far rural north where the reach of technology had not yet touched, a barren land known as the wastelands had become destined as the center of a rather odd interstellar event which happened only once every hundred years and so astronomers the world across had come to set up camp across the only real township of Brayberry Hills deep within the southern territory of the wastelands. Story told of the Crimson Countess and her county here in the wasteland, and the night when her castle and the expanse had been rendered barren in an explosion of radiance.
These were merely old wives' tales however, and the Astronomers would rather affix their telescopes to the comet which had come dangerously close to Terra on this night. Watching streaks of light fall down from her perch, Lucian observed one of the pieces of the comet's trail break away and head towards Terra before being brilliantly lit with orange hue. This fragment, however, did not end on the cusp of Terra's atmosphere as would be expected and instead hastened it's departure. Lucian the Tanuki would discover quickly it would land in a lake not even a kilometer away.
Lucian as always was helping out some people around her house, dragging boxes, planting some carrots, and even going to hunt alongside to some people from her town. Eventually the stars could be seen, though Lucian didn't much care for the stars, at-least not until she notices the fragment of the comet's tail had began falling towards Terra. Naturally, the Tanuki Girl panicked, running about her room before finally grabbing her hooded cloak when she saw it land at the lake not so far away. She jumped from her window and started running forward to the lake.
Retrothrusters fired, causing the space pod to instead land within a bed of freshwater seagrass at the edge of the lake opposite Lucien. The space pod slammed down, an orb of pure red starmetal with lines of silver. The orb had but a single, small window though it did have a number of doodads on the outside of the vessel. The window was currently misted and hard to see through, but from what could be determined, it seemed to be some sort of linen to Lucien. On the far side of the lake, however, a pack of wolves peeked through the reeds.
Considering her natural speed, it only took her a few minutes before she could smell blood on the air, likely from previous meals. Reaching the lake, she hid away beneath the bush to observe exactly what was going on. Her senses managed to pick up on a nearby wolf and she was used to their smell from far away but this didn't seem the case. Slowly, taking in a deep breath, Lucian managed to calm herself and jumped in, reaching the pod and trying to open it whilst her tail formed a thick spike for her own protection.
Lucian managed to pull the release and the pod opens with a snap-hiss, releasing ionized air with a deep hiss subsequently. Once open revealed a sleeping child in a white space-suit. The only things evident was crimson hair and light tanned skin with closed eyes through the helm as it ended at the bridge of the nose. Apparently, whatever this creature was, it was asleep. On the back of the space-suit were two large plastic-like umbilical cables on the figure's back one titled 'pull in case of emergency' and both were anchored to the ship itself.
Meanwhile, the wolves growled in a low tone and began to push through the underbrush before one leaped out at Lucian quickly. Her bushy tail began to increase in both diameter and bushy-ness so to say, and Lucian gave the wolf a quick slap of her tail while reaching down and removing both cables. She panicked inwardly as she picked up the child. As soon as she touched the child, his space suit released a hard click and detached from him. A young boy with a full head of scarlet red hair and emerald green eyes, dressed in a white bodysuit with a multi-pouch belt.
The young boy groggily yawned as if waking from a long sleep and slowly opened his eyes and notice he was being carried. The sense of danger at being carried by something caused the boy to inadvertently release a small orb of Ki that flew into and incinerated the nearby wolf's throat. Watching their kin die, the remaining three wolves jumped towards the two, which did not help to calm the panicking Tanuki girl. Lucian looked around, noticing she was surrounded, and somehow naturally her tail split into two.
"Shor'vul'rel tak Ginma Ho'ran'g Hakurei, Sha'tal!" Shouted the young boy in what might as well be gibberish, while Lucien warded off approaching wolves and began dashing away while holding the young boy. He then reached into one of the small pouches and withdrew a tiny pill then subsequently tossed the pill into his mouth and swallowed. Noticing a wolf jumping towards him with outstretched fangs, the boy grasped an orb of atomic green Ki and released it into the jumping wolf. The wolf is quickly incinerated.
"Thank you for saving me, but please put me down." The boy said kindly, somehow now able to speak basic English. Lucian by now was scared out of his mind, taking a nervous gulp. She dropped the boy, but in turn feinted due to the exhaustion of the ordeal and because of those 'evolutions' and their impact on her stamina. The boy quickly carried Lucian away from the fleeing wolves and into a wooded clearing. The town had by now noticed Lucian had not returned and was likely searching for her as could be told by the closeting flames of torchlight.
It had been an hour, but at last Lucian awakened. She wearily opened her eyes, delighted that the wolves were nowhere near yet still the strange boy hovered over her protectively. Lucien quickly pulled herself to her feet, checking herself and finding nothing missing. She was startled when she heard someone screaming her name from close by. She stared down the boy, then offered her hand. "I don't think it's safe here, wanna come? We have… food…"
"Yes thanks, that sounds like a great idea. I don't know much about …here so let's be friends! If we're going to be friends you should know my name, It's Hakurei." Announced the boy, taking the outstretched hand of Lucian and shaking it. He didn't remember much of home, only his mother's beautiful face and her last words. And then… as his space pod left the planet boom it was gone. Lucien suddenly got a sly idea, adjusting the size of her tail down to a smaller, ragged look. She had been brewing an idea to get them out of this mess.
"Alright… Let's try to come up with a story so they don't punish us! Uhh… what about sayin' that I found you here playing alone?" Asked Lucian, to which Hakurei nodded emphatically, it would be good enough a story to keep both out of trouble, he thought.
