Chapter 40 - Spencer flies to save Gary

Spencer tapped the steering wheel impatiently as the server was not back up even after waiting for a long time. He lost his patience and drove the car away speedily towards the airport. Time right now was precious as he could not lose Gary as he was the only powerful figure they got to hold off.

He ignored the red lights and sped up without caring about anything around him. He parked the car in front of the airport terminal and ran towards the counter. The counter was about to close as the boarding was starting. He pushed everyone away from the queue and showed his ticket which he booked on the way to the airport.

"OO… You are really late! You do realize that right?" the counter person asked.

"I know. It is important. I need to get on that flight asap" He pulled out his id and showed it to her.

"Officer, your boarding pass."

"Thank you! Rosaline,"

"It's my pleasure, Spencer. How about we go on a date after you come back from your mission?"

"Sure. why not?" He winked at her and walked away with a smile.

Just when he turned the corner where she couldn't see his expression, his face had an expression of contempt and disgust. He rushed to the boarding area and stood in the line. A kid who was playing around came towards him and threw a ball at him.

He lifted the ball up and squeezed it. The ball burst with a 'boom' sound, the small kid started to cry which irritated him even more. He glared at the kid and tried hard to reduce his killing intent to stop the kid from wailing.

This is not the correct time, he needs to have resistance and his first priority is to save Gary or at least remove the nanobots from his head. Or else it would be in no time they would be exposed and if they were hunted down, then their goal could not be achieved.

"I am sorry, I am sorry!" The kid's mother who looked anemic rushed towards them and lifted the crying child.

"I am Marie, you are?" She asked.

Spencer just stared at her and ignored her while walking forward.

"Are you also going to board the same plane? What is your seat number?" Marie asked.

Spencer disregarded her once again and moved ahead. This time he did not even look at her. She craned her neck forward and looked at his boarding pass.

"What a coincidence! We both are next to each other." Marie shouted with excitement.

Spencer with blank expression boarded the plane and sat on his seat, while Marie along with his kid sat next to him. She placed the kid in between them and tried to start a conversation multiple times. But not getting any response from him even after trying multiple times, she felt tired and fell asleep.

The pilot announced that they would land in a few minutes. Spencer stood up and moved towards the lavatory. The kid who watched Spencer go forward followed him behind.

All of them were rushing towards their seats as air hostesses were announcing for them to sit on their respective seats and put on the seat belts. Spencer came back in five minutes and sat down on his seat.

The flight landed and he rushed out as the time was running out for him. Marie woke up and searched for her kid. He was nowhere to be found.

"My kid, he is missing! Did anyone see him?"

She asked around but no one responded as everyone was rushing towards the exit door. Finally, one air hostess noticed and asked,

"Madam, what is the problem?"

"My child, he was just sitting here but now he is not there!"

"Maybe he got down, I will alert the security to check outside. Can you please describe what he looks like and his name?"

"He is five years old. His name is Raymond. We call him Ray, he was wearing a red t-shirt with Spiderman…. on his back… and blue trousers. I don't know what I will do now… Please help me... Please I beg you…"

"Do not worry, Mam. We will find him…"

Another flight attendant joined them and immediately alerted airport security. An announcement was heard through the airport about the missing boy. Spencer with a crooked smile boarded a cab and gave Gary's hospital address that he found from the news circulated on the internet.

The cab rushed towards the hospital while a cleaner found the boy's body in the lavatory. His body was upside down on the commode while the blood that has flown out, had almost dried.

"Aaahhhh…" He immediately rushed towards the security officials and alerted them.

"There is a dead body, I mean a dead kid in the lavatory, officer" he shouted.

Four or five officers rushed inside and checked. They immediately called the airport cops and alerted the medical team. Once they confirmed that the kid was already dead, he was taken to the nearby hospital for an autopsy. Marie was informed and she rushed to the hospital wailing all the way.

An officer approached her and asked,

"Hi, I am Baron. I know you have lost your precious son, and you are still moaning but do you mind answering a few questions to me?"

"...." Marie looked up and just shook her head.

"When did you exactly last see him? I heard from the flight attendant that you said, he was there next to you minutes before getting down from the plane. Is that true? Did you really see him at that moment?" Baron asked.

"No, actually after boarding the plane. I dozed off... and when I woke him he was not next to me... I thought he was there sitting next to me all the time…" Marie told in between while wailing and weeping and shedding tears continuously.

She still could not believe that her kid was no more in this world. Her throat got dried up and she wailed even more as her chest hurt. Baron patted her back and handed her a glass of water.

Marie took it and drank a few sips in between her sobs. The water entered her nostrils and she coughed vigorously. Her eyes became red because of all the crying and her snotty nose turned pink. Baron gave her a pack of hand wipes and waited until she became normal before asking his next question.

"Do you have anyone who can give you an alibi that you were sleeping throughout the journey?"

Marie lifted her head in shock and looked at Baron. She could not believe what she just heard? Did he accuse her of killing her own son? The son she gave birth to after going through a lot of struggle?

"What? What do you mean?" She asked angrily.

"I mean the statement you gave just now to me and the flight attendant's statement is contradicting! Right now you are also one of the suspects. I am sorry that I had to do this right now but you are coming with us. We have informed the boy's father and he is on his way. We also have some disturbing news that you actually kidnapped the boy from his father."

"No! I did not! Yes, we were in a custody battle but I did not kill my son. I did not… You must believe me… I took her along with me as he wanted to come and stay with me! Why can I not bring my son along with me? The court has not yet issued an affirmation yet. So I am entitled to keep my son with me." Marie shouted.
