Chapter 34 - Hastin regrets his decision

Hastin walked inside the mansion with a heavy heart. From the time he saw his father's image he felt restless and troubled breathing. What if his father is really alive? What if he made a mistake by not opening the gate? What if his father's life is in danger?

He turned around and ran towards the gate. But there was no car or anyone outside. It's just the vast field that came into his view outside with no one around, not even any birds or animals could be seen.

He hung his head and walked towards his mansion. He entered the basement and stood in front of the server.

"Did you swallow my father too? Is he still alive? If I turn on the server once again, will you bring my dad back?"

He asked the system which was shutdown. After looking at that for a few minutes, he walked back to his room. He laid on the bed and looked up.

"Dad, I am sorry! I cannot believe that scary App anymore. It may lie to me the next minute I switch it on and take over my life once again. If you are really alive, then please be safe. I… I am sorry… I am really sorry… I am so scared dad… I am extremely afraid..."

Tears rolled down his eyes, that he did not wipe. He let the streamflow and just laid down without moving.

In the dungeon, Victor saw Tucker lying on the floor holding his head. He was screaming in pain and blood oozed out from his ears and nose.

"Tucker, what happened? You are bleeding. I will call Gary and will inform him."

Tucker did not hear him as the pain was unbearable and he started to breathe with difficulty. Victor ran outside to call others for help.

"What happened to him? Did you hit him on his head?" Axel asked.

"No, I did not do anything to him. When I came here to report that the food is ready…" Victor tried to explain.

"Chill, kid! He was just kidding… Now let us see, what we should do with him? Didn't he always cause us trouble just because Gary trusted him more? Just let him die… Then one of us can become the leader.." Rod said.

Victor looked at those guys who just turned back and left with no humanity. The next minute, Rod came back and pulled him away.

"If you try to do anything funny, listen carefully to me kid, I will make sure you die before him. You did not come in nor did you see anything. If Gary asks you anything, you lie. Am I clear?" Rod warned him.

Victor looked back once at Tucker before he walked away with Rod. The screams of Tucker's cry echoed throughout the dungeon. Jackson shivered as he was not sure what was happening outside. He went near the iron bars and tried to look outside.

Due to the location of the prison cell, Jackson could not see much. He held the bars and stood there for a few minutes but his legs started to pain. So he just sat in the corner hearing the bawling with fear running down his spine.

'Are they now torturing and killing the people imprisoned here? Will they kill him too? What should he do?'

He pulled the bars with all his strength thinking that it may come off if he tried harder. He did not want to die yet. He needs to save his son. His son is in danger. He was not sure if those creatures let him live or... He could not think… He looked like a beggar, his hair had grown long and his beard covered his whole face.

Those guys did not take their eyes off Victor. They were not sure if he would go and inform Gary about this situation. Before they could decide if killing him is their best option, Victor asked,

"Should I bring the food to you all? It may become stale if not consumed sooner."

"Fine. Go bring us food. No, wait…" Rod said.

Victor turned and looked at them without any emotions. He tried hard to hide his fear as he was sure if required these people won't blink an eye to kill anyone. They are the cruelest people he had ever seen. He had seen how they enjoy torturing these prisoners.

If they have let him live, it was because he was still useful. If not, they would have finished him off long back. Victor held his breath and looked at Rod while holding his pants with shivering hands.

"Do not fear… I won't eat you. Let James accompany you… we don't trust you fully yet."

Victor just nodded his head and waited for James to follow him. Once they were done with their food and drinks, most of them slept off. While few roamed around to do a check on those prisoners. Victor waited patiently for everyone to sleep. He had mixed sleeping pills on their food which Tucker had saved in his drawer.

When they said they would let Tucker die, he knew that they would not let him live once they found a replacement for his position. Tucker kept those sleeping pills to give to those prisoners who shouts all night because of the pain induced on them. When they were fed, he would ask Victor to mix it in their water or food.

Thankfully, he had taken the keys for the drawers from Tucker before he went to call others. All he had to do is now wait for the truck which would come to deliver the supplies. He could make an escape but the only issue is if the truck driver notices something was wrong, then it would become a huge issue.

He needs someone who could help him escape by pretending to be a newly assigned guard and at the same time, he should be convincing too… Suddenly he realized, he had mixed the sleeping pills in all the food which he prepared today and everyone would be asleep in a few minutes.

He hit his head but later realized no one here would be of any help as either the guards would kill him the next instant they knew about his plan to escape. And moreover, the prisoners they held here were no noble, they all would use this opportunity to free themselves and at the same time get rid of him for sure.

Noble… The word hit him and he said, "There is one…"

"There is one? Who?" Rod asked while walking towards him shakily.

He had his eyes on this boy for a long time. When he noticed that his teammates were sleeping like the dead, he realized that something was wrong. He did not eat much food today but he had consumed too much alcohol.

His brain almost lost the sense of direction and so his leg walked towards the wall. He hit the wall and fell down. Victor held his heart in his throat when he watched Rod move towards him. He just could not believe what would happen next, when Rod realized that he had put sleeping pills on their food.

Victor went near him and tried to shake Rod to see if he was still awake. Before his hand could touch him, Rod opened his eyes and held his hand.

"Aaaa.," Victor screamed and lifted the bottle using his other hand, which Rod dropped when he fell down.

He smashed it on Rod's head and tried to pull the hand away from his tight grip. Blood oozed out from Rod's forehead but he did not lose consciousness. He held his head and got up with bloodshot eyes.

"How dare you try to hit me with my favorite bottle? See, what I am going to do with you?" Rod grudgingly shouted and jumped on Victor.

Victor held the broken bottle in hand and closed his eyes. He was now sure that he is going to die today. As he could not hold Rod's body weight, he fell on the ground while Rod slept above him groaning in pain. Victor tried to move him away, but he couldn't.

Rod with great difficulty pulled him away and stared at his stomach which now had a hole because of the broken bottle which Victor pulled away when he was trying to get up.

"Do you think you could escape from here so easily? Do you know there are people outside who are twice your size and would easily kill you with a flick? Idiot! If you had listened to me, then they would have spared your life but now wait for your death." Rod uttered with great difficulty.

Blood kept on oozing out from his head and stomach. He held the wall and sat in one corner. He tried to lift him up and pounce on Victor once again. But due to his injury, it became difficult to even lift his hands.
