Chapter 171 - The difference between you and him

Arthur and the three Lecture Hall Elders approached the new classroom, opening the door just a fraction of an inch and being greeted with an immense amount of noise and sound.

"I can already lift a boulder that weighs more than 120 kilograms!".

"My Mother told me that Fae Masters have to go on dangerous missions outside of the Village.... I wonder if I'll be able to do well....".

"After I become a powerhouse I want to travel across the entirety of the Azure Envy Continent! Fight the strongest spirit beasts! Drink the rarest of wines and marry the most beautiful of women!".

The three Elders sent a glance to each other, narrowing their eyes as the noise in the room quietened.

Most of those who were descendents of Fae Masters had already taken their seats, and sat quietly as they watched Arthur and the three Elders enter the room, but the vast majority of mortal born Fae Masters just turned towards the Elders where they stood.

They didn't have much of an idea of status or what was the correct thing to do, since no-one had taught them. They knew that in terms of hierarchy in the Kovacs Clan, Rank 3 Fae Masters were considered Elders, although they had little to no idea of what "strength" truly meant.

Perhaps only those few individuals, like Nyssa or Henrik knew, despite their lack of any knowledge on Fae Masters.

Elder Vova narrowed his eyes.

"Get to your seats! All of you!".

Hearing the intensity and the origin essence enhanced tone of his voice, all of those rowdy Fae Masters quickly avoided staring into Elder Vova's eyes and found their seats.

Seeing the stern expression on all three of the Elders faces, they thought that they might've been in trouble. Despite the fact that they were all Fae Masters, they still knew that Elders commanded strength and respect in Parachenko Village.

Elder Vova's gaze swept over the 90ish students in front of him, before he tilted his head back slightly, his eyes still narrowed.

"From today onwards, all of you are considered half-Fae Masters of the Clan. Only until after you complete this year of Lectures and study, will you be considered a full fledged member and Fae Master of the Kovacs Clan. This is something that is repeated every year, so no matter who you are, or who you are descended from, you must go through this process".

Some people in the class turned towards Arthur, who nodded slightly at his words.

If the Clan Leaders son affirmed what he was saying, then most of them took Elder Vova's words as gospel.

"For the next year, all of you will study under the Lecture Hall members, and we will teach you lessons regarding Fae Master etiquette, Fae, Fae materials, the relationship between origin essence and Fae, martial arts and a plethora of other fields.

"You will all receive 3 origin essence stones a week, to freely use for whatever you wish. Stealing is out of the question, and anyone who does so will be punished severely".

Elder Vova paused for a moment his eyes slowly moving over the ninety plus students.

"Each of us will rotate between certain classes, as the four of us have a different speciality. You may experience a weeks worth of Fae studies before having two days of martial arts classes followed by a days worth of origin essence control. It will vary, depending on what we feel is necessary to teach".

One of the girls in the class, someone whom Arthur didn't recognize, raised her arm high into the air. It was obvious that she wanted to ask a question.

Elder Vova glanced at her before nodding slightly.

The girl turned slightly red in the face as her eyes glanced between Elder Vova and Arthur.

"Elder Vova.... you said that the "four of us" does that mean that.... the third young master will be teaching us this year?".

She wasn't familiar with Arthur, nor with the structure of the Clan. They were all Fae Masters, so really they didn't need to call Arthur "young master".

Elder Vova didn't even so much as blink before he nodded, affirming her statement.

"Arthur has volunteered to assist the Lecture Hall considering how many Fae Masters we lost during the two beast tides. He will be teaching martial arts, and the practical combat studies. Despite what you may think.... Arthur will not be your friend, or your companion during this year, he will be your teacher, and will demand the same respect as an Elder".

Some of the mortal born Fae Masters seemed a little apprehensive, but when they remembered Arthur's performance during the Fae Master Tournament, their eyes shined with a eager glint.

If Arthur could teach them his Attribute Control Skill, killer move or whatever it was called, then couldn't they become as strong as he was?

However-.

Another hand raised into the air.

It was a young mortal born Fae Master who, despite not possessing any Kovacs blood, possessed a physique that rivalled even Borik's. He was already fifteen, but he was more than 6 foot 6 in height, and was even more broad shouldered than Dominic.

He was also one of the second-tier talents that first awakened during the talent awakening ceremony. Not one that Arthur had placed on his list though.

Elder Vova nodded at the young man.

"Yes Kristof?".

The young man stood up, his face slightly frowning as he gazed at Arthur.

"Elder Vova, I understand that the entirety of the Clan is shorthanded during this time, however, I cannot understand your reasoning as to why Arthur is teaching us of all people? If it was Leon or Dominic, yes, but Arthur is only a year older than us, and was only a Rank 1 Fae Master during the Clan Tournament. If he is teaching us how to fight, shouldn't it be someone with more experience, or perhaps more-".

"No".

The young man named Kristof paused mid-sentence, hearing Elder Vova's response.

Despite knowing his place compared to both Elder Vova and Arthur, Kristof frowned slightly.

"No.... what?".

Elder Vova, in addition to Elder Karl and Elder Jakob turned towards Kristof, a slightly sympathetic look in their eyes.

"Kristof, no, in fact all of you".

Elder Vova turned towards all the other young Fae Masters in the room. His expression was slightly sympathetic, as if he was looking as some sort of poor, injured fallen bird.

"Let me allow you to try and comprehend the distance between Arthur and yourselves. Despite your hopes and dreams and wishes for greatness, the vast majority of you will not, purely due to your own limits".

"Cultivation is one thing, and something that I will disregard, considering that Arthur can, as a Rank 1 Fae Master, defeat, and possibly kill Randolf a Rank 2 Fae Master. What I want to talk about, is something that most Fae Masters in Parachenko Village will never touch upon in their entire lives".

Elder Vova gesture towards Arthur.

"At higher realms, there is something known to Fae Masters, and the members of the Myriad Races, called "Laws". Laws are what govern this world, and to put it simply, Laws are within everything, even yourself to some degree".

Some of the more immature young men and women glanced up and down their bodies, trying to look for these "Laws".

"They cannot be perceived with sight, hearing, smell or taste. They are comprehended with the Mind, Body and Soul. In Parachenko Village currently, there exists three people who have comprehended a Law. Myself, Elder Anatol and Arthur".

"Laws allow one to.... bend certain parts of the World to our bidding. Nothing to extreme, but....".

Elder Vova let his hand glow slightly, turning bright green for a moment before gesturing to the small plant on the windowsill. The small drooping flower, suddenly came to life, regaining its bright colour and blossoming beautifully underneath the bright blue sky.

The eyes of many young Fae Masters widened in shock and awe.

"This can be done, even without Fae, and usually, Laws are the specialty of Fae Immortals".

Their mouths dropped even further and the sound of gulps echoed throughout the room.

Elder Vova let out a small sigh before turning back towards Arthur.

"As much as it goes against my philosophy as a teacher and educator, the fact is, is that the majority of you will not be able to comprehend or perceive a Law. Most of you wouldn't even know that they existed if I didn't tell you, and now that you do, none of you know where to start looking".

"Arthur is only a year older than you, but has done what had taken me nearly and entire lifetime to achieve. And that is just his perception. He has taken a year to become a Rank 2 Fae Master, and his combat prowess will speak for itself. If any of you think that Arthur is still not worthy of the respect of an Elder, you are all free to skip his class".

"But let it be known, that if you skip class for no good reason, you will not receive your weekly origin essence stones".

"If there are anymore questions, please, tell me, or ask any of us, right now".
