Chapter 6 - "Parley!"

Guns.Screams.I gasped. I looked over at Elizabeth, who still was sleeping. We must have fallen asleep while waiting for the maid. I had a weird feeling in my body. I was cold. I had had a nightmare. I pulled the covers up to my chin again, and closed my eyes, forcing my body to stop shivering. But then I heard it again. Screams. Gunfire. Kanons. I opened my eyes, and in a second I was out of bed. I opened the doors to the balcony, and stepped out. The cold wind crashed into mu body, covered by a long silk rope wrapped around me. The sight my eyes received was something I had never seen before. Flames. Raw fire. Smoke. Moments of light appeared. Cannons firing at each other. One from the hill and one from the middle of the ocean. What? The ocean? I leaned forward to look closer. I squinted my eyes. When I realized what it was I backed away from the railing. A ship. As the flag got closer, I gasped. A pirate ship. But not just any ship. A ship with black sails. The black pearl was here. I stumbled backward, not knowing how to react. My heart was pounding. I slammed the two doors shut and hurried back to bed where Elizabeth was still asleep. I looked at her, standing by the edge of the bed."Elizabeth!" I yelled, trying to wake her. Another cannon. "Elizabeth!" I yelled one more time. Another cannon. I stomped up to her, raised my hand, and slapped her hard on one of her cheeks. Her eyes flew open, and her mouth was formed as a small "o"."Pirate ship" I stuttered. She looked at me, still with her hand against her now red cheek."What?" she asked confused and tired. Another cannon. Screams."We're under attack" I said. Her eyes widened."At-attack?" she whispered out. I grabbed her hand and pulled her out of her bed."We're not safe.""Of course we are. They won't be able to get in" she said. I looked at her."You're the daughter of the governor. Of course they will." When she realized the truth in what I said, her face changed. She was scared. I walked up to the balcony once again and looked out. I saw fire under us. Torches. The pirates. I grabbed her hand, and began to drag her out of her room."We have to hide." I began to run towards the front door, with a hope to block or lock it before they broke in. When I arrived at the main stairs, we heard a knock, and a servant began walking up to the door to open it. What was he doing?"Don't! What are you doing?" But it was too late. "Hello, scum" a voice outside said, followed by a gunshot. The stupid servant went straight to the ground, with a bullet in his forehead. Elizabeth screamed louder than anyone could scream. Suddenly, a bunch of pirates stormed through the doors. There were too many to fight, or escape. Our only hope was to hide. "Up there" someone said, pointing at me and Elizabeth, still standing shook in the stairs. Two of the pirates began running up toward us. My reflexes kicked in, and I grabbed Elizabeth by her wrist, running up the stairs where we had come from. I could hear them right behind us. As soon as I reached a door, I pushed Elizabeth in and closed it behind us. I turned to find something to block the door but crashed right into the same maid who talked to us before we fell asleep. My heart was pounding so hard in my chest that it hurt. She grabbed Elizabeth behind me."Miss Swann, they've come to kidnap you" the maid yelled. "In here" one of the pirates yelled on the other side of the door. The door shook. Elizabeth gasped. I walked up to the door, trying to keep them out."Listen to me Elizabeth. Hide now, and with the first chance you get, run to the forest, not the town." Elizabeth looked at me."But what about you""I'll survive. They're not after me" She began to run through the doorway that leads to a bunch of other rooms. An escape. The maid and I was trying to stall them. She looked at me."Miss Bonny, you should run too" she said. I leaned my head to the door."What's your name?" I asked her. She looked confused."Ehm… I'm Heda.""Well Heda, I'm not leaving you" She looked shooked."But, you really should miss Bonny.""Why? because my life is more important?" I asked her. The door started to shake harder."Well yes""One life can not be more valuable than another. It can not be rated on the wealth of one. That's not how things work." I said. Her eyes started to tear up."Thank you. You're a kindhearted person" she said, but got interrupted by the door giving up. I fast picked up a stove iron and got behind the door. Then I slammed it right in the pirates head. He stopped, and screamed. I ran up to the thinner pirate, getting ready to slam it in his head too. He grabbed my wrist. We looked at each other. One of his eyes was different. I was sure it was a fisheye. Wouldn't actually be surprised, based on the hygiene and looks of these two pirates."Boo" he said, trying to scare me. "Boo" I snapped back, pushing a button making burning coal fall onto his head. "No! No! No! It's hot!" he screamed. He screamed in horror. "Your burned me!""Come on!" the rounder pirate yelled. I began to run towards the other door. It lead to another room. I heard the pirates right behind me. I knew the maid had by now escaped, probably finding a place to hide.

I ran through another door, which lead me back to the main stares. The whole house was a maze. Down on the first floor there was full chaos. Maids and pirates running everywhere. I ran down the stairs. Before I knew it, the tall and slim pirate was in front of me. He looked at me, laughing."Now what do you have under that robe?" We looked at each other. All of a sudden, a cannonball was fired through the wall and right at one of the pirates. All three looked at the place he had just been standing. I took the opportunity to run away. The chandelier went flying down right behind me, between me and the pirates chasing me. I ran into one of the rooms, and locked the door behind me with a candlestick. My whole body was filled with adrenaline. I was alive. I wondered where Elizabeth had gone, while I looked through the room after a weapon. It was quiet. The two swords at the wall caught my eyes. I ran up to them, taking them off the wall. Soon after I realized they were fake. I screamed out of frustration.

"Seriously?" Who in the world would choose to hang fake swords up on a wall? "Felice?" I heard someone whisper. I looked around.

"Hello?"Ii whispered back. Elizabeth stuck her head out from under the table. I looked at her.

"Elizabeth? What are you doing here?"

"I couldn't get out" she whispered. The door started to shake.

"Bloody hell" I whispered, while my head was spinning around trying to come up with a plan. I grabbed her, and lead her to the big closet.

"Hide here, okay?" She looked at me, concerned. We both knew that they would find her. The doors wouldn't hold. She got into the closet and closed the doors. Before I even knew I had an idea, I opened the windows. I knew we didn't have any time to escape. It was too high. But there was a slight chance the filthy pirates would think so. The long curtains fluttered in the wind. I looked around in the room for a hiding spot. The doors spun open, and before I could think of anything else I slipped under the table where Elizabeth had been hiding. My breath was heavy. And loud. I placed my hand over my mouth, trying to lower my breath. I could hear them walking towards the windows. I got a small glimpse of hope. But the steps stopped.

"We know your here puppet" one of them giggled. My stomach got sick. They actually enjoyed this.

"Puppet?" the other repeated.

"Come out!" the first one said, more hasty. He began walking closer to the table, where I was hiding. "We will find you, puppet!" He stopped. I could see his feet. My heart was running wild in my chest. I bit my bottom lip. It was shaking.

"There you are!" The chubby pirate yelled, as he slammed his hand on the table while bending down to look at me. I screamed. I began to back off, trying to reach the other end to escape. Then I felt my back hit someone. I looked up. Above me stood the slimmer pirate with the biggest grin on his face, showing me all his yellow teeth. Or, what was left of them.

"Ahh, puppet number 1," he said, and jerked me off the floor. He held me tight into his chest, keeping me from running. I screamed on top of my lungs. Someone had to help. Someone would help if they heard me. Right?

"Now now, no need to scream. We just want to have a little fun," the fuller man said, moving towards me. I started trying to fight back, with no use. The man behind me put a cold hand on my chest. I could feel it through the light silk fabric of the robe. I let out a choked scream.

"Now that's it." The full one said. "Where is puppet number two?"

"Yeah. Number two" the man touching me said. I closed my eyes. I wanted to disappear. Just sink into the ground. Suddenly, the pirate in front of me grabbed my cheeks, forcing me to look at him. His breath smelled awful.

"You have something that belongs to us, and we want to take it," he said. The hand on my chest tightened. I gasped.

"I don't know what you're talking about" I forced out. My throat was all dried up. He laughed.

"You don't know?" he said. I nodded. He took a harder grip around my cheeks. "Then the other puppet must know" I shook my head. I could feel the tall pirates breath against my ear. The pirate in front of me began to scan the room. I was hoping they would think she escaped out the window. His glance stopped at the floor, and a smile began to form on his face. I followed his glance. The carpet. The carpet in front of the closet was folded. I began to breathe heavier.

"The gold is calling us," he said. He walked closer to the closet.

"The gold" the pirate other whispered in my ear. I tried escaping from his arms.

"No!" I screamed. Poor Elizabeth. What would they do to her? "Stop!" He didn't stop.

"No!" I screamed again. The pirate behind me slammed me against the wall. I was shocked. My whole body was shaking. I shivered. The breeze hit me.

"Hello puppet" the other one said, as he opened the doors to the closet, finding Elizabeth.

"Goodnight" the pirate pressing me against the wall said, right before he smacked something hard to my forehead. The last thing I heard before my body hit the floor, and everything went dark, was Elizabeth's voice yelling:

"Parley!"
