Chapter 7 - Fighting the Feral Wolf King!.... Ash Wind Bandits?!

Hearing Media's words Mazell suddenly remembered.

Mazell: "Right! I have Magic Guns!"

Mazell immediately pulled out his magic guns from his storage ring and turned his head towards the large black wolf that was a dozen meters away from him.

Mazell: "Media why isn't it attacking?"

Media: "Master the Feral Wolf King has very high wisdom compared to ordinary wolves. It must've noticed how the other feral wolves died as they got near Master."

Mazell: "So it's being careful huh."

Facing the piercing cold eyes and sharp killing intent emitted by the Feral Wolf King, Mazell couldn't help but slightly shudder. This was the first time in his entire life that he was going to face such a large and terrifying beast. Must know that even during his thirty year stay in the prime amethyst none of Old Purple's simulation trainings ever involved a beast like this.

Mazell: "Media tell me honestly. Is this thing.... A Magical Beast?"

Media: "No Master. Although the Feral Wolf King is formidable, it still cannot be classified as a Magical Beast."

Hearing Media's response Mazell sighed in relief. Must know that powerful Magical Beasts possesses some resistance to magic. Which is why mages cannot easily defeat them. But since the Feral Wolf King isn't a Magical Beast, Mazell could easily kill it with his magic.

Media: "However.... It also seems to have already absorbed a small sliver of world's mana. Meaning if left alone for three to four years, it will undoubtedly evolve into a Magical Beast. By that time it would take about thirty mages of Master's current level to have any hope of defeating it."

Hearing Media's explanation Mazell immediately became determined: "Then we need to kill it as soon as possible!"

There was no way Mazell was going to let this wolf evolve into a Magical Beast. There was a very high chance that it would attack the village someday. And if it had already turned into a magical beast when it does, Mazell might no longer be it's match. By that time Mazell didn't doubt that hundreds of villagers would die from the wolf's attack. In order to protect his peaceful home Mazell was determined to kill this Feral Wolf King right here and now.

AWOOOO!!!

The Wolf King then ran around the water puddle and dashed towards Mazell. The Wolf looked as if it was hungry for blood. Seeing this Mazell immediately jumped towards the nearest tree branch. Just in time to avoid the wolf king's fangs.

Mazell: "Phew!... This guy moves way faster compared to the other wolves."

Media: "Master the Feral Wolf King's physical abilities are slightly higher than yours. You must never let your guard down when fighting it."

And as if responding to Media's words the wolf king swiftly jumped up towards Mazell preparing to give him a ferocious bite.

Seeing this Mazell was both in shock and panic stricken: "What the heck?!"

He immediately jumped off the branch and safely landed on the ground.

CRUNCH!!!

Seeing the thick branch being completely destroyed by a single bite Mazell felt cold sweat run down his back: "How the hell is such a big wolf able to jump so high so fast?!"

Media: "Master I had already warned you that it's physical abilities were slightly higher than yours."

Mazell: "Crap! This might be bad."

Mazell was quite troubled. Since the wolf king could keep up with him it would be extremely difficult for him to actually use his magic guns against it. Must know that Mazell had never trained in controlling his elemental mana. Which makes it difficult for him to prepare magic bullets to use against the wolf king. He will need at least three seconds to create and load elemental magic bullets into his magic guns. But with the wolf king's speed it was pretty obvious it won't give him the opportunity to do that. What's more he needs to be in a state of absolute concentration when creating the magic bullets. Meaning he needs to disregard the wolf king during those three seconds. But with how ferociously the wolf king was attacking there was no way that was gonna happen.

Mazell's original plan was quite simple. Get on top of a tree prepare and load an elemental magic bullet then go down and shoot the wolf king. With his thirty years of training in the prime amethyst he was very skilled and accurate with wielding pistols. So he was confident in killing the wolf king as long as he manages to load a magic bullet. Naturally he could also rely on using his spells as well. The only problem with that is his magic control. Since he hasn't trained in controlling his magic yet he was sure his accuracy when using his Thunder Spark spell was very bad. Against a powerful foe like the Feral Wolf King who possessed strength and speed above his own he didn't wish to rely on a something he didn't have full control of yet.

AWOOO!!!

After landing the wolf king ferociously lunged towards Mazell ready to bite his head off. Mazell easily dodged the large wolf's attack. Even Though the wolf king's speed was slightly higher than Mazell's, it still couldn't compare to Mazell's flexibility and reflexes.

Media: "Master you will not be able to keep on dodging for long! The Feral Wolf King's stamina is also higher than yours. So I would not suggest attempting a battle of attrition."

Since Media was now a part of Mazell's mind she naturally knew what her master was planning.

While dodging the wolf king's claw Mazell cursed: "Shit! Then how am I supposed to beat this thing?! It doesn't seem like it's going to give me time to create and load a magic bullet!"

Media: "Master may I suggest finding a method to distract it. At least long enough for you to create a magic bullet."

It was quite difficult for Mazell to think of a method to distract the large wolf given the fact that he had to focus all of his attention on dodging.

Mazell cursed: "Argh! Dammit! Media can you tell me anything about this beast?! Any information at all?"

Media: "Well it is said to be capable of smelling it's victim's blood from a kilometer away and also...."

Mazell then excitedly exclaimed: "Wait that's it! Blood!"

Mazell then allowed the Feral Wolf King to scratch one of his arms. When blood seeped out of the wound the Wolf King immediately memorized the scent of Mazell's blood. After which he slowly led the Wolf King within a dark area close to the trees where visibility was low.

When the Wolf King realized he could no longer see his prey he immediately relied on his nose to track the Mazell's scent. Normally the Feral Wolf King could track his enemies via their body's scent. But after wounding Mazell the Feral Wolf King was now more inclined to tracking him by his blood's scent.

After immediately confirming the location of his prey via the scent of their blood the Feral Wolf King immediately lunged at the large tree on his left. Roooar!!!

After finally biting on his prey the Wolf King felt as if something was wrong. His prey was hard not soft, there was no taste of meat at all, but most of all no blood seeped out.

Bzzt...Bzzt

Sounds came from behind the Wolf King. When the Wolf King turned around he saw a young boy with snow white hair and red eyes filled with rage staring at him. In the boy's hand was pistol completely covered in dark blue lightning, his arm wrapped with a brown cloth clearly to cover the wound the Wolf King had dealt him earlier. Seeing this the Wolf King felt a chill run down his back. His instincts told him that death....was near!

Mazell then shouted at the top of his lungs: "DIE YOU GODDAMNED BEAST! [Thunder Spark Bullet - Raging Shot]" BANG!!!

Many villagers within Wand Stone Village saw a dark blue light flash within the woods that night. At the time none of them realized that that moment was actually the first ever time that the future legendary 16th Gun Mage first fired his magic guns. And that they had unexpectedly witnessed it from afar.

"Hah..hah..hah"

After firing his magic guns for the first time Mazell felt completely exhausted. His right arm was continuously shaking while at the same time feeling completely numb. In front of him was a pile of ash that was once the terrifying Feral Wolf King. Mazell then stood up, walked to the pile of ashes and picked something up. It was a coat completely saturated with blood.

Seeing the coat soaked in blood Mazell smiled. His plan was quite simple. Allow the Wolf King to memorize the scent of his blood, soak his coat with his blood, throw it to the nearby stump and then cover his wound with a cloth. This plan pretty much bought him enough time to focus on creating a magic bullet.

Media: "Congratulations Master for winning your first ever life and death battle!"

Hearing Media's voice Mazell once again felt completely tired: "Ugh!... I truly wish that this would be the last life and death battle I would ever have...Huh?"

Mazell then noticed something shining from the pile of ashes. He bent down and picked it up. It was...

Mazell: "This is..."

Media: "A collar?...But...How could that be? For it to actually survive Master's [Thunder Spark Bullet]?...Master?"

Mazell's eyes turned completely sharp as he stared intently at the collar. He could clearly see the letters A.W.B. inscribed onto it.

Mazell then muttered in a serious and heavy tone: "Ash Wind Bandits!"
