Chereads / POKEMON: BLAST OFF! / Chapter 164 - EPISODE 54: Misdreavus!*

Chapter 164 - EPISODE 54: Misdreavus!*

Having a ghost Pokemon around isn't so bad after all. Misdreavus and her jolly nature is always there, present like the ever-glowing sun. Early in the morning, she is our alarm clock. Zooming out of her Pokeball she does, waking me and Virgo up persistently.

It was quite a long day yesterday. Obtaining a King's Rock for Virgo, acquiring the fourth piece of the puzzle, me being possessed by a ghost, and many more. I deserve a long nap, however, persistent little Misdreavus keeps on waking me up, begging for attention.

"What... What do you want Misdreavus?" I query with annoyance, swiping my head across the air as if I was shewing a mosquito.

Misdreavus's face becomes a pouty one as she unleashes a shadow ball directly to my face, snapping all of the tiredness and lethargy shrouding my body.

"That was very inappropriate." Above her bed, Virgo chuckles. Surprisingly, she was already awake, reading one of her books again.

"You're awake already?"

"Of course. It's already eleven in the morning. Misdreavus was waking you up since eight o clock however, you were still sleeping."

"Eleven... It's fine. It's not like there's going to be another mission." I sigh deeply, laying down to my bed again while staring at the abyss. The moment I said my words, a knock on our door intervenes. I start to become both worried and frustrated, hoping it would be the professor, telling us that we have another day off rather than another mission. I opened the door, seeing the professor again. This time, she doesn't have any laptop or devices with her, hinting me that there will be no missions for the day.

"You have a Misdreavus?" The professor is in complete awe after seeing my Pokemon squirming and drifting across the room.

"Yes. I caught it yesterday after accidentally stumbling upon it. Hehe."

"Hmm, what moves does it know?" The professor queries.

"Well, it knows confuse ray, hex, shadow ball, and thunderbolt, according to the Pokedex," I reply.

"Not bad. Your Misdreavus is interesting... Interesting indeed. I was here to announce that the location of Zapdos has been found, but the executives decided to give you a day or two to rest for now. So, perhaps by Wednesday, you'll be heading back to Kanto."

"To Kanto?!" Me and Virgo utters with a shocked expression.

"Yes. According to my data, Zapdos could be found in the Power Plant, just east of Kanto Mainland. Anyways, there is not much to worry about since that is a mission for another time. It's not like the Rebirth Society could find its location in a minute or two since they lack the technology... I think.

If it weren't for Team Rocket's most excellent Satellites, the location of the mirage of thunder wouldn't be found. Anyhow, Luna, may I challenge your Misdreavus for research purposes. You see, I am a fan of ghost type Pokemons despite being a professor and all."

"A Pokemon Battle? You see, I'm not that strong when it comes to such sport."

"Oh don't worry, I'll be easy on you." Professor Olive promises.

With a little persuasion, I finally said yes, expecting to receive good results from the professor's evaluation. After a nice breakfast in the cafeteria, I proceed to the Battle Stadium of the tower, somehow larger than the one in Kanto. My friends will be cheering for me, and the man who thought me how to become a Pokemon battler will be the referee of the match.

The thing is, battling professors are extremely difficult. They are both clever and genuine, and their skills and strategies are out of the blue. Even Professor Oak is famous on the internet after defeating all six of his grandson's Pokemons with only one. I watched the recorded battle, and it was hilarious to see Gary not standing a single chance against his grandfather.

"The match between Professor Olive and Elite Operative Luna is about to begin. Each will use one Pokemon. The battle ends when either side no longer has any Pokemon to battle with. Please send them out!" Cliff proclaims then instructs.

"Misdreavus, I choose you."

"It's time for her to meet her evolved form. Hehehe..." The professor murmurs to himself, tossing her Pokemon out of its Pokeball.

To my surprise, the professor has chosen a Pokemon much profound compared to Misdreavus.

[Mismagius! The Magical Pokemon, a ghost type, and the final evolved form of Misdreavus. It chants incantations. While they usually torment targets, some chants bring happiness.] The Pokedex describes. Seeing her evolved form, Misdreavus was both haunted and determined. Determined to be like Mismagius in the future.

Mismagius is a purple, ghost-like Pokémon. It has a round head with elaborate tufts resembling a witch's hat atop it. The tips of the tufts are paler than most of the body. It has a thin, red mouth that resembles the letter "W." Below its head, Mismagius has a long neck with a round lump midway down. Three, elliptical red spheres surround the upper portion of Mismagius's body. There are extensions on the sides of its lower body with the foremost ones tattered compared to rear ones. This gives Mismagius the appearance of wearing some kind of cloak.

"It's like a mother-daughter fight," Virgo observes from the background.

"Surprised? Misdreavus was my partner when I was young, and now it has fully evolved. She helps me in my works, keeping me awake throughout sleepy nights. Anyways, let's get this battle started shall we?"

"Battle begin!" Cliff declares, lifting his left hand to the sky, commencing the match once in for all!

"Misdreavus, thunderbolt!"

"Quick Mismagius, Aerial Ace!" Professor Olive counters.

With the move Aerial Ace, Mismagius quickly glides and drifts, nearly invisible due to its extreme speed. It chuckles hysterically as it moves, dodging the bolt of lightning heading towards her. In a moment or two, it is Mismagius's turn to attack. She unleashes her Aerial Ace move to Misdreavus, dealing an extreme amount of damage.

"Misdreavus, try using Shadow Ball!"

"Protect."

A single word, protect. A barrier forms in front of Mismagius, blocking it completely from the attack. Genuine, the Professor's skills are, maybe even better than Cliff by one percent. After the settling of the second round of moves, we proceed to the third round, wherein it is Mismagius's turn to attack.

"Power gem!"

"Dodge it!"

Unable to dodge, Misdreavus was hit with another stunning move known as Power Gem. Being hit by the attack, dust scatters throughout the air. After settling, Misdreavus's body was found all fainted, lethargic, and worn out. What could I expect, Misdreavus was battling her evolved form. Mismagius is a powerful Pokemon indeed that even the cheers of my friends couldn't increase Midreavus's confidence, and I'm willing to evolve Misdreavus when the right time comes.

"Misdreavus, could be a Mismagius through a Dusk Stone. I've seen what is needed to be seen. Perhaps training here and there will help boost Misdreavus's power just like what I did when I was young like you. Anyhow, thank you for accepting my battle." She shakes my hand, showing humility and sportsmanship...
