Chapter 3 - Happiness in Heartbreak

During class Haruhi could basically feel the begging stares of Hikaru and Koaru. They had been pestering her to speak to them for days, but Haruhi was stubbornly determined to ignore them. She felt like smacking them across the head until they finally got that she wasn't coming back until they ALL came and spoke to her, together.

As soon as the bell rang she stood up and sprinted out the door desperately trying to escape the twins. Suddenly she was corned by Mori and Honey with the twins swiftly approaching. Her brain wracked for ideas to escape, but when she tried to run for it Mori slammed his hand against the wall blocking her path. She stood there and death glared all of them, they shivered with the intensity of it and stepped back. This was her chance. She bolted down hallways and corridors until she finally made it to the Rose Garden Maze, where she and Ritsu had agreed to meet.

Glad that she was away from Hikaru, Koaru, Honey and Mori, she slowed her pace and took a deep breath. Twisting and turning down paths, she made her way to the centre. She could hear voices coming from where she was supposed to meet up. She slowly got closer and soon recognised one of those voices to be Ritsu's. It was then she heard another females voice. Haruhi hid behind a bush and listened intently to their conversation. Unfortunately the bushes were too thick and they were wispered so she couldn't hear anything other than random nonsense. Once she heard the voices stop, and thinking the girl had left, she walked out from her hiding place. Turning around the corner to meet Ritsu, Haruhi stood horrified at the sight before her.

All she could feel was numbness. Blinking her eyes rapidly to make sure was she was seeing was real, she was met with the indespicable truth. Tears poured down her cheeks and her legs began to shake. Infront of her, her own boyfriend was kissing another, and enjoying himself. Ritsu had one arm snaked around the mystery woman's waist and the other hand on her breasts. The girls arms were wrapped around his neck, pulling him further into the embrace. The sob that she felt building up came out, it startled Ritsu and the mistress enough for them to pull away. " H-h-how could you Ritsu? With everything I went through with the Host Club, just so I could be with you and now this? We're over. Don't ever speak to me or anyone in the club again."

She could hear him shouting her name, begging her to stop and let him explain. But she couldn't, no wouldn't let him. Without thinking she ran towards music room 3 where the host club ran their services. She needed to apologise for not listening to them and being stupid enough to get into a relationship that they all knew would break her. As she was running she saw Renge who called out her name asking for Haruhi to follow her. Haruhi saw Renge was walking towards the Host Club and walked with her. But just as she was about to open the door Renge started to speak, " Haruhi wait there's something you have to hear, just open the door slightly and don't give yourself away." She was shocked, "I have to eavesdrop on them? That's not cool I can't do that." Seeing the raw emotion in Renge's face Haruhi sighed and did as she was told.

"If only we noticed Haruhi's feelings earlier. Things would've turned out a lot different," the twins said in unison. "We all know. But there's nothing we can do about it now, except all going to Haruhi and apologising." Kyoya replied looking stressed, eyes filled with guilt. "There's one thing we need to do first though," Tamaki said, while taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry for everything I said and did to offend any and all of you. I know it will take time to forgive each other, but this is for Haruhi's sake." He finished saying.

Haruhi was shocked at what she was hearing, she never thought in her entire life that Tamaki cared for her that much, he would admit defeat. But apparently it wasn't just him. Everyone else stood and offered their own apologies, agreeing that being friends was better than fighting for the rest of their lives. "Now we all need to go apologise for making Haru-chan think she was the reason for all our arguements and more importantly making her cry." Honey said while turning to walk out of the room, intending for the rest of them to follow.

It was then when Renge spoke again, "See Haruhi, none of them blame you. They all spent hours trying to think of ways to rebuild this club, for you Haruhi. Your one special girl" Haruhi was surprised at Renge's last statement, but there wasn't time to question it, Haruhi knew exactly what she needed to do. So as soon as the boys opened the doors that Haruhi was listening through completely, she burst into happy tears and cried out, "It's okay! I forgive you, apology accepted. I'm sorry for making you worry about me, and being so rude to you these past few days. I don't know what was going through my head!" By the time she finished her exclamation, all the guys were staring at her with expressions from shock to pure happiness.

It was then that something caught Mori's eye. Haruhi hadn't nearly cried enough for her eyes to be this swollen and puffy. He gently reached out and lifted her chin and stared into her eyes. "What happened before you came to us. Are you ok?" Mori said seriously. "Now that I really look at you Haru-chan you seem to be going through a lot more than your saying." Honey observed too. "I'm fine guys. Nothing's wrong." She said while trying to plaster a fake smile in her face. By the looks they gave her, she knew it fell short.
