Haruhi sat up in a shock, after she went through the same horrifying nightmare for the third night this week. She dreamer about going through Ritsu cheating on her, except this time everyone around her wasn't as accepting. In her dream they tormented, and blamed her for everything. Haruhi quickly shoved that thought from her mind what is shaking her head.
'They would never do that. I have to stop blaming myself.' She thought to herself.
Slowly making here at around the house, getting ready, she saw her dad fast asleep. She was determined to be quiet and not wake her dad, she made her way outside to go to the store. Stepping outside into the crisp morning air, she could hear kids from the park. Smiling she decided to stop past and play with them.
She helped the kids organise a game of kick the can, while giggling at them run around and acting adorable. She really liked kids, they made the whole world seem a little more happy. She stood there had closed her eyes and began to count, she could hear them scuttling away and whispering the best places to hide. She opened her eyes and looked around straight away she could see them huddled behind a tree. She acted like she couldn't see them and wondered around confused.
" Goodness, I wonder where they could be? They're really good at hiding!" She said out loud.
They all giggled and laughed. Quickly she spun around and ran behind shouting 'Gotcha!' and making them squirm into a fit of giggles and yells.
" No! Stop, let go of me! Mum help!" A little girl screamed. Nobody could hear her, except for Haruhi. Her parents were to far away, and if Haruhi ran to them, the little girl would be gone by time they got back. Without hesitating she sprinted along the fence-line, hoping to get behind him. Just as she made it and leaped for the male kidnapper, he spun around and kicked her right in the ribs. Coughing she stood back up, and quickly sprang at the man. To stunned to react, the man was pushed out of the way. Haruhi scooped the little girl up into her arms. The girl clung tight to her, sobbing into her chest.
" It's alright now. I've got you, he can't get you anymore. Don't be scared." Okay, so she was telling little White lies, but she couldn't think of anything else to tell her. Without thinking, Haruhi ran into the open space of the park, and the kidnapper, idiotically, followed her. Straight away, one of the mums there saw her, and with serious eyes, they both looked at each other and nodded. The mother pulled her phone out and called the police, while Haruhi continued running, with the mystery man if her heels.
Haruhi obviously didn't run fast enough, because suddenly, she felt a giant THWACK, and cried out in pain as she fell to the ground. Placing the little girl in the ground, Haruhi shielded her with her body. She tried not to cry out in pain as she was berraded with kicks and punches. Ignoring him, she made small talk with the little girl.
"Hi, my name's Haruhi. What's your name?"
"My name is Sophie, but call me Soph. Your eyes are really pretty." The little girl replied with tears in her eyes,
"I'm sorry you're getting hurt because of me," she apologised and buried her head in Haruhi's chest. Haruhi rushed to assure her, but it didn't help when she had to hold her breath during sentences, lest she scream.
Suddenly, there was a loud THUMP. Haruhi unwilling to take chances stayed as she was. She heard the people say it was the police, she still didn't move, surprisingly, there was also someone she knew there.
"Haruhi, it's alright, it me Mori" Mori said in worried voice. Slowly she rolled over on her knees, with the girl still cradled in her arms. As soon as she did, Sophie's mother came running and scooped her up crying. She thanked Haruhi until her voice went raw. Haruhi, to sore and bruised to say anything just smiled and stood up. She waved to Soph and she waved back.
Unexpectedly, Mori hugged Haruhi. His body was shaking, after staying like that for a few moments, they stepped back and looked at each other. Haruhi inhaled deeply at what she saw. It was concern, no, concern for her.
" Promise me you will never do that again. You scared the crap out of me. I-i-i don't know what I do if you-," he was cut short.
" It's ok Mori. I'm fine, or I will be. I promise to find help next time. I'm sorry"
He just sighed, and making sure he got his point across, he told her that if the police didn't arrive at the same time as he was walking past, he would have already beaten that guy half to death. Worried that he did that for her she quickly nodded. The police asked her to step into the ambulance, to get her checked out at the hospital. After groaning and mumbling, and one particular harsh look from Mori, she agreed only if Mori came with her.
At the hospital, the x-rays came back saying, she had broken ribs, and a hairline fracture in her leg. She sighed, knowing that they would have to contact her father. After that, her and Mori where alone in the room. She turned to him to apologise, but suddenly she wasn't able to speak.
