Chapter 27 - Day 2 Title fix

"Cain stand up now. I know you can stand, don't you dare try to take me for a fool. Acting more hurt then you actually are with me will get you punished worse to make you match the way you are acting. Now get up." I said in a flat tone.

"Yes Master," Cain said as he stood up.

"Really, no explanation or anything huh. Am I going to need to punish you further then? I don't want to break you but I need to understand why you disobeyed me. You knew how I felt about you and how I trusted you that you wouldn't betray me and you still did that to me. I have ten more waiting for me to add them or turn them away from my seethe. I have to know why you would do that to me or I will have to exclude you from the binding and kill those that are bound to you now. That way no one will ever question my orders again." I looked straight at Cain when I said that.

"Master, I was taught to never give explanations or excuses. If you desire to know why I did it, I swear to you that it wasn't in malice or anything. The others started getting upset that your connnection disappeared and they felt your pain so I at first tried to calm them down and when that didn't happen... I ordered them to be calm and their pain went away. My order stopped their pain and Max said, 'You are acting as if you are our master and it stopped the pain. You must be our new master now.' So I said that you gave me the ability to act as their master in your place so that I could better control you all when you weren't directly present. So that yes I was one of their masters. That started them calling me master. I didn't demand them to call me master but I could control them as if I was a master of them. My mistake was in allowing them to call me master and not stopping them for calling me that. I honestly thought that I might of killed you and I didn't want to mess up them calling me master if you were actually dead. I am very sorry for my laspe in judgement as as well as my lack of faith that I had in you as well. I really do hope you can forgive me and give me a second chance. I really didn't try to betray you or anything. Georgina made it seem like I did it out of malice and that is wrong. Doug told me what she said when I woke up and before we arrived at your door Master." Cain said staring me fully in the eyes the entire time.

I had my gaze locked onto him the entire time he was telling me his explanation. Using all my senses I couldn't detect a shred of evidence that he was trying to lie or be deceitful in any way shape or form. Nodding my head I smiled at him. He flinched and took a step back.

"Very well Cain, I accept your explanation. No further punishment or actions will be taken against you this time. Your next task is to fix your title with the seethe right away and then to get them ready to meet the prospective members for the seethe. I want them all to be ready in 20 mins and for each of them to be clean and presentable. I will summon you and them when you are to leave the room and come outside." I replied breaking my eye contact by blinking which in turn released Cain from having to stare back.

"Master for the title fix could I have them call me something else? I was thinking sir or regent maybe. That will establish that I am your second in command. As we have never had a second in command in the history of seethes that I am aware of so this is brand new ground for us all." Cain asked me with caution.

"Commander might work or Sir Cain." I replied thinking about that.

"Yes Master, I will talk to them about that." Cain replied with a bow

I was watching him bow and turn around to leave when an idea came around.

"Cain, what about Baron Cain or Count Cain though being called count in a few steps below my title of Lady. Baron is the title below mine and would work to show you are second in command below me. It sounds better then Commander Cain and I will not have you go by General or something military like." I said with a smile on my face.

"Master I like the sound of them calling me Baron Cain. It has a good sound to me. If you will allow myself to be called that then I will have them call me that so as to not have them call me Master from now on. You will have to order Georgina to call me that though as she doesn't have to obey me unless you order her to obey me." Cain replied.

"I don't want to have to order anyone to call you a title. If they feel the need to call you Cain then that is fine. I just refuse to allow them to call you Master as that is the title I demand. You are the one that wants to be called a title that shows that you are my second in command. Apparently its not enough for me to just say that you are and have them also bound to you. Why is that I suppose? I am not expecting an answer to that question just so you know. It is just a passing thought you need to think about seriously. Why do you feel the need to have a title? Think about that carefully. I will get around to asking you for an answer in time when I feel you should have a proper answer to it." I said to Cain. "Now leave me and go fix things with them while I go to check out what Alfred and Damien have waiting for me."

Cain opened up the door and started to step out and then stopped and turned around with a puzzled look on his face.

"Damien master? Do you mean Devlin?" He said.

He quickly realised his mistake and dropped to the floor and abased himself.

"Master please forgive me. I didn't mean to correct you." Cain said with his voice muffled by his arms and the floor.

"Cain get up right now or I will make you get up. Also yes that is who I mean. Now you are wasting my time and I do not like that at all. Go away so I can get what I need done. You have a task to do and I expect it to be done very soon." I said getting seriously annoyed.

I got up and headed toward my door and stepped on Cain as I left since he still was on the floor. I knew I could of just stepped over him but I told him to move and he didn't yet so I made sure there was force in my step and that it hurt when I walked on him to head to the tavern.
