"Are you sure this is going to work?"
"I don't know, stop interrogating me"
"Terron, have you ever seen an elf before?"
"Yes...No"
"Terron?"
"Yes Mica?"
"If you ruin this, I will murder you"
"You can't. I'm the King"
"And I'm your big sister. Suck it"
Terron groaned and sneaked behind Mica. He decided to go look for the elf by himself but made the mistake of telling his overprotective sister. Now, she was following him to find the elf.
"The counsellor said he found her around a pond"
"So, he was peeping?"
Terron snorts at her question.
"Does he look like the type to have sexual attraction?"
"Maybe not to Krolls but Elves are uncharted territory. We may never know"
"Hmm, you're right"
"Wait! I smell something"
"What? What do you smell Mica?"
"Blood. Fresh blood. From that direction"
Terron follows after Mica who was jumping from tree to tree towards the source of the blood she smelt. They ran for a while before they chanced on a figure biting the neck of a buck.
There was a deer beside with a clawed throat.
"A double kill, impressive" Mica muses out loud. The elf's big round eyes snap to them and she growls at them. She picks up her prey and runs with them.
"Wait! We don't want to hurt you, we just want to help" Terron calls out. She doesn't reply to him, just keeps on running.
"Way to go Mica, you scared her off"
"Shut up Terron, it's not like you did better"
Terron growls and increases his speed. His sister was annoying but the elf was his priority. She looked frightened.
The chase leads them to a remote part of the forest, protected by natural boulders and sharp trees. The elf knew her way around and soon disappeared from their sight.
"Damn it. Mica, did you get her scent?"
"Yeah. Now, we stalk her right?"
"Don't say it like that!"
"Maybe not only Counsellor Umik is attracted to the elf, eh?"
"Argh! Would you shut up for once?"
"If I did, how would I tell you she's in that cave?"
Terron narrowed his eyes at his sister and approached the cave carefully. The cave looked menacing from the exterior nut once they got in, it was surprisingly warm and had a homey feel to it.
"What are you doing here?" A feminine voice asked with a spear pointed to his throat.
"I'm Terron, I'm a kroll. Someone told me an elf was staying here so I came to check it out. That's my sister Mica"
"What are you? Like a guard or something"
"No. I'm the king"
"And I'm the tooth fairy"
Alea was being sarcastic but Mica burst into laughter. She laughed so hard, she rolled on the floor. Alea shook her head and stopped threatening Terron.
"Wait, Fairies exist?"
"Yeah, they do. Don't try to trick them though" Alea replies and uses her spear as a walking stick to move back into the cave. The siblings look at each other and follow her into the cave.
She seats and they follow suit.
"I'm Alea"
"Hi Alea, nice to meet you. I'm Mica. Have you seen a Kroll before?"
"Yes. I saw one being sold to shifty eyed man"
"Oh. Well, Kroll slavery is a crime amd we're trying our best to crack down on it"
"Good for you"
Terron shifts his sister to the side to talk to Alea.
"Well, Alea, I'm really the King of Krolls. My counsellor saw you here a few days ago and reported to me. I came to check it out and she came along. I hope you'll forgive our intrusion. We haven't seen an elf before. You are a stuff of legends"
"Hmm, nice to meet you King of Krolls. Although it's hard to imagine you're a king. I've met a lot of royals and you look nothing like them"
"Are they human royals?" Mica chips in.
"Yeah"
"Well, Krolls can't be exactly compared to humans. We're much better than them"
"Every race thinks that. You should know by now no race is better than the other"
"Ah, yeah" Mica replies sheepishly.
"When we saw you earlier, you were hurt. Can we have a look at it?" Terron asks gently.
"Even if you did, you wouldn't be able to heal me"
"We know that. We just want to try"
"I'm not open to experiments"
"Please"
"Fine"
Alea stretches out her leg and they see the greyed area on her pale skin. They gasped as soon as they saw it. Alea looked at them in confusion.
"What has gotten into you two?"
"You're withering" Mica replies tenderly.
"How do you know?" Alea asks with narrowed eyes.
"Krolls are the furry cousins of the elves, remember? Come with us, I know something that can help"
"The last time I followed someone on this continent, it didn't end well"
"We swear on our lives that nothing would happen to you"
"And Oila?"
"Who's Oila? Another elf?" Mica inquires.
"I look nothing like an elf. You've been staring at me the whole time and you probably assumed I was a pet lizard" Oila says indignantly.
"You're not?" Mica gasps.
"No. You've never seen a baby dragon before then. I'm Oila, the majestic green dragon"
"Hi, Oila, nice to meet you. I'm Terron" Terron says with a friendly wave.
Oila in many ways looked like a lizard. She didn't have her wings, her body was thin and she curled on herself to lie on the floor. Her body was long, up to 6 feet long but she had a width of about one foot. On top of her head were two tiny horns and a snout.
"At least this one has manners. Hello Terron. Alea, are you going with them?"
"Yeah. We have to go home soon"
"Can't we go without them?"
"If you can already fly, sure. Last I remember, you don't have wings yet"
"Hmph. Just wait till they come out you mean elf" Oila said angrily.
The two krolls, the elf and the indignant dragon set out on a journey to the kingdom of the krolls that moment, restoring the forest to its former tranquillity after they were gone.
