Chapter 10 - The Baby Stress Nine

Month Two

the doctor tells me more the next visit and says that now they call it a zygote and it looks more like a small human form now than before.

"Nausea, vomiting, food sensitivity and fatigue may develop or become more severe" he warns me

" Should I be worried about that?" I ask him

"No, it's normal for you to throw up a lot and feel sick to your stomach" he smiles and hands me a paper.

" And if it's the case of smoking and drinking a lot of caffeine you should find a different way of eating and all of that and not smoke while with your baby not born yet" he says

"Don't worry baby, I don't smoke so your safe with me" I pay my belly and the doctor smiles over at Carlos who is leaning on the chair but listening intently to what the doctor had to say about the baby and it's health and well being.

"You'll go thru mood swings and then you'll not want to have sex as much as you probably do right now and you'll want to calm down a bit and just sit and relax" he says.

The next thing he says is out of this world amazing.

"The heart is beating, the brain is developing and she has developed all her limbs as well as hands and feet. The eyes have not fully developed." he says and I smile brightly. I go home and time flows by and the next month rolls around and I am getting annoyed and miidty as he says am extremely tired.

Month Three

"You're reaching the end of your first trimester, and your body is adjusting to the shifting hormone levels." the doctor says as I let out a frustrating sigh and Carlos asks why I am so annoyed and the doctor answers for me.

"Nausea may decrease as your body adjusts to hormone levels.Your middle may widen, as the uterus grows to the size of a grapefruit. As you feel better, develop an exercise plan to increase strength and flexibility, which will help during labor. Moodiness and food aversions may continue but usually subside by the end of the trimester. You may experience your first food cravings as appetite returns." he takes a deep breath and continues on.

"How big is she Doctor Harriet?" I ask him and he looks down at the papers he keeps as records of my visits.

"Your baby is now officially a fetus and is between two and four inches long" he says from the papers.

"Also, your baby is also moving her arms and legs, though you won't feel it yet" he smiles and I breathe a sigh of relief. He shows us my baby and all of a sudden I can hear a beating sound and it's pretty fast and he gives a huge smile to us. .

"You can hear her heart beat now." he says

It's not like me to say this but I hate my aunt. I arrive home and I am packing up my stuff to move in with my boyfriend when she barges in and hits me across my face and punches my stomach and then I scream in pain and she sees what she just did was a mistake and keeps saying sorry but I keep my hand there as I bring my things out to Carlos' s car and he sees me fall to the ground and comes over and helps me up when giving Maria a dirty look.

"Look Evelyn I am very sorry that I hurt you can you ever forgive me?" she begs but I shake my head as Carlos zooms out of there and we are at his house 10 minutes later. We go inside and I sit down on the living room couch and he touches my belly where she punched me and u see a bruise and I give Carlos a sad look and he makes a note on the fridge to ask the doctor to see if there is anything wrong with the baby.

Month Four

" Hormones settle, morning sickness fades, and you start to feel normal again. " he says and I clap my hands as he says that now I'll actually start to feel the mother instinct kick in. Carlos gives me a kiss on my mouth before the doctor comes back in with less papers.

"By the end of this month, you may feel "quickening" – the first flutters of baby movement often described as "butterflies" or "bubbles."" he says and right at that dumb moment I feel a little flutter in my stomach and I take Carlos's hand and he smiles as it flutters again.

" That's a good sign but can also be a bad sign" he says but keep his smile in his face.

" But here's the stupid part of this second trimester buddies.

you may develop heartburn as your uterus rises in your abdomen." he taps my head and I flinch.

"Will I be affected by this change?" I ask

"Not necessarily" he says

"But anyway, now is a good time to sign up for prenatal classes as soon as you can" he say to go right after the visit to the mall to buy some baby clothes. We buy mostly girl clothes then boy clothes cause he keeps saying she so we assumed it would be a girl.
