Rainbow found herself sitting in a relatively comfortable chair in a nail salon with a nail tech hovering over her asking lots of questions that were all answered by Dimond or Linda. How had this happened?! One minute Rainbow had been standing in her dorm room trying to decide whether going to class today was worth it, and the next she'd been dragged by Dimond and Linda to a nail salon as 'Girl Time', with Linda paying for Rainbow's nails as a thank you for looking out for her when Barry had upset her.
The nail tech blinked a couple of times. "Is that okay?" She asked calmly, her soothing voice only sending panic into Rainbow. What had she been saying? She'd zoned out. She had been panicking so much that she'd forgotten to pay attention to her surroundings… ironic really… she mused, trying to gauge from either Dimond or Linda what the nail tech was asking.
"She said, do you want our suggestion, which is obviously yes." Dimond filled in, smirking at Rainbow's confused and panicked face. What was their suggestion though? How long had she zoned out for? Rainbow internally hit her forehead for not paying attention. How could she let Dimond and Linda decide? She turned to Linda who was grinning with a thumbs up, showing off one of her dark blue acrylic nails with golden stars pressed into it. It looked really pretty on Linda, dark blue was definitely her colour, Rainbow thought studying it.
"Umm… Yeah, just g-go with whatever…" Rainbow mumbled, words coming out before she'd really had a chance to think about it. Then Dimond's nails caught Rainbow's eye, they were sort of swirly in a sparkly, purple galaxy sort of way. The colour also matched the tips of Dimond's hair she realised.
The nail tech glued the plastic nail onto Rainbow's and she was surprised by how long it was. How would she even be able to pick anything up? "So… I heard that the new kid is called Gary Sheffield… So is he like THE Gary Sheffield or…?" Linda questioned, evidently attempting to take Rainbow's mind off of the nail tech. Bringing up Gary though only added more stress to her mind…
"How many people do you know called 'Gary Sheffield'?" Rainbow asked, poking fun at Linda's gossip starter. Dimond was grinning. Rainbow immediately regretted her contribution to the gossip, knowing that Dimond would somehow find a way to get her to expose her secrets.
"Yep! THE Gary Sheffield! I bet he'd be a great boyfriend…" Dimond commented eyes focused on Rainbow, who froze in the seat, hearing her heart thumping loudly. B-boyfriend?! Where did that come from?! They weren't even friends!!
"Nah, I bet he's well stuck up." Linda sighed, waving a hand dismissively. Clearly she hadn't caught on to Dimond's intentions yet, and Rainbow was glad of that. All she had to do was diffuse the situation quickly and carefully and…
"He's seriously wealthy though! I mean he could buy you anything you wanted!" Dimond continued, smirking in Rainbow's direction as she started to think about it. Money. Something the Sheffield's had loads of and the Aimes's had always suffered without. It would be nice though… NO! She was not a charity case! She internally slapped herself again, snapping her out of it.
"Oh yeah! RB you should consider being his girlfriend!" Linda gasped, realising what Dimond was saying. Great. Just Great. Rainbow slumped back in the comfy seat. She wanted it to swallow her whole right there and then. But it couldn't. She could only rely on herself to get her out of this mess.
"No way. No way I'd ever become a gold digger or some charity case! Besides who'd want to be with an idiot like him anyway?" Rainbow answered, tempted to cross her arms but the acrylic nails were still drying. THE NAILS! She'd completely forgotten about them! She looked down at them and found that they were rainbow coloured. Of course. There was a diagonal spilt up them though, with the half closest to her thumb being the colour in a sparkly acrylic and the other half being matte colours. They were actually quite nice, Rainbow thought for half a second before turning back to the girls.
"Do you like them?" Linda asked with a giddy smile plastered across her face. She evidently loved the way that they'd come out. Dimond was smiling too, but in a more smirk-y way. What was she up to now?
"They're okay… I don't know how I'll be able to pick stuff up though…" Rainbow answered, truthfully. Linda deserved to know her genuine thoughts on the nails, after all, she was paying for them. Linda grinned more and high-fived Dimond.
"I told you she'd love them!" She gloated, bouncing up and down in her seat excitedly. Rainbow gave her best half-smile as she watched Linda gush over their nails. It was nice seeing her happy like this. It reminded her of old-times. Times before everything was about boys and who was dating who.
