Rainbow walked out of the nurse's office feeling really guilty. She shouldn't have told Gary about all of that stuff. The voices were still yelling at her about it. Exposing their family line would mean the end of it, and she did not want to be the Aimes to cause that. Gary was still waiting outside for her even though she and the the nurse had asked him to leave. She sighed seeing him, but his eyes lit up when she came out.
"So, can I ask you more questions?" He asked following her after she walked straight past him. He really couldn't take a hint. Was he really so oblivious that he couldn't tell that she wasn't going to answer his questions? Everything in her was telling her not to talk to him or answer anymore questions.
"That itself is a question." She answered harshly, she knew that he would keep trying anyway but her head was spinning, there was too much going on. Her head started to hurt like someone was pricking her with a pin. Her step wobbled and he quickly grabbed her before she fell again. She held her head in pain.
"Are you okay?" He asked concernedly, still holding her. Her headache grew, it was now a piercing pain that took over her whole mind. She slipped out of his arms and fell to the floor. The pain lessened slightly and she released her hands from her head. Gary sat down next to her and lightly placed a hand on her shoulder. She'd never experienced this pain before, but it seemed like it was a new tactic to keep her away from Gary. At least for now.
"Please, go over there." She asked, almost pleading at this point. He came a little closer to her in protest but the pain sharply increased and she held her head tightly again. He seemed to realise that the pain was connected to him in some way and stood up, walking to the other side of the hallway to give her some space. The pain eased, not completely fading, but enough that it didn't hurt much anymore.
"What was that? Are you okay?" Gary questioned completely concerned about it. She looked over to him, it was clear from his body language that if he could have been there with her, he would've been. She shakily stood up, using the wall to help herself up.
"I-I don't know…" Rainbow mumbled quietly, collecting her thoughts slowly. Apparently they had more control over her than she realised. "It's never happened before… but I think it's something to make me stay away from you…" She said quietly, sounding more disappointed than she'd realised she was. He transferred his weight from foot to foot, hesitating and trying to make sense of the situation.
"Well… I guess for now, I'll just stay away from you…" Gary concluded glumly. He glanced up at her, studying her body language and then walked off down the hallway. He shoved his hands in his pockets and bowed his head slightly. Rainbow watched him leave, feeling overwhelmingly guilty and sad. He'd tried to help her even though she kept pushing him away. She hugged herself and started to cry.
Everyone always left eventually…
He was just the same…
