Chapter 133 - My Little Cousin - Dimond

Dimond had been chatting to Barry and joining in with his flirting when she heard a loud thump. She spun around and saw Rainbow's lifeless body on the floor. Her eyes widened in horror and she cried out her name as she ran over to her. Dimond checked her pulse, her heart was still beating in it's discordant way and she was still softly breathing.

"What happened?" Barry asked, thoroughly confused at why she'd suddenly collapsed. He and Gabrielle slowly came over to the two cousins. Dimond sighed in relief and annoyance as she realised the reason herself.

"She's so stupid..." She mumbled, lightly brushing her little cousin's fringe out of her eyes. "She just collapsed from exhaustion." Dimond informed the others, staring at the dark purple bags under Rainbow's eyes that she'd concealed with her magic. Dimond could use her own magic to temporarily unveil Rainbow's spells if she wanted to. It was difficult, but when the royal Aimes suddenly collapses, there's not really another choice. Unlike normal magic, Dimond's magic didn't glow when it was used, as it was mainly created for mind wiping which needed to be inconspicuous. This meant that people rarely noticed that she used spells. Only Rainbow and their families knew that she had magic. It also generally fixed the royal Aimes's mistakes, and Rainbow made a lot of them. She smiled slightly and picked her up, carrying her in her arms.

"Jeez... Can we put her in some random place, so when she wakes up she's really confused?" Barry asked, suddenly energised by the idea of Rainbow waking up completely confused and alone. Dimond rolled her eyes.

"We're taking her back to the dorm." She responded, ignoring his mischievous suggestion. She gazed down at Rainbow, her head had rolled into her chest and her hair falling off of Dimond's arm. It made her smile, seeing Rainbow so peaceful. It never happened when she was awake, there was always a darkness hidden behind the light in her eyes. Sometimes it made Dimond worry about her. Carrying Rainbow back to the dorm reminded her maternal instinct of why she wanted a child. She knew that she was way too young but she couldn't help it. Gabrielle and Barry walked behind her and talked about the new kid in the year as Barry ranted about his annoying personality.

Rainbow woke up in Dimond's arms, weakly. Noticing that Dimond was carrying her. What had happened? "Someone forgot that malnutrition and insomnia don't mix well." She explained quietly, after reading Rainbow's confused expression. She smiled and lightly flicked Dimond's forehead.

"You know its not insomnia..." She corrected as Dimond sighed and rolled her eyes. Did she really want to start this again? "Thanks for this, I guess you do care after all!" She joked and Dimond shook her head groaning internally that Rainbow was awake enough to joke.

"Look," Dimond started, "You have anxiety, depression, you're malnourished and you don't sleep ever. How am I supposed to keep up with all these things?" She commented "Besides, if you're awake enough to joke then you're awake enough to walk." She retorted. Rainbow frowned at her walls coming up again.

"Don't be like that, also, you know I hate it when you make me sound broken." Rainbow mumbled, eyes closing again. Dimond opened the dorm door and walked into the dark room. She gently placed Rainbow in the bed, while Barry and Gabrielle stayed outside and planned what they would do tonight. Dimond pulled the duvet over her cousin, listening to the light snoring she had started. She was about to walk out when she noticed how tightly Rainbow was holding the bed. Ever since Rainbow had been little she'd had the ability to interact with the conscious world without waking up, unless it required it. Sometimes when she slept she would grab people before they left, so that they would stay with her. Or at least that's what Rainbow had told her. She'd had never reached out for Dimond.

Dimond walked out of the room and closed the door, leaving Rainbow to sleep in the darkness. "You okay?" Barry asked, cupping her cheek so that she would look at him. She just nodded which caused Barry to frown. "C'mon, lets go make fun of some nerds!" He joked grinning mischievously. She smiled and walked off with him, forgetting all about Rainbow for the remainder of the day.
