Chapter 107 - Bon Appétit part 2 - Rainbow

Rainbow navigated her way through the large crowd all trying to leave the hall. This was why she always left early. She had also somehow managed to lose Barry and the other populars. People pushed past her in a hurried fashion, not caring if she was the head girl. Sometimes being small had its downsides.

"Hey!" A voice called, trying to get her attention. She turned around in the crowd and saw a guy heading towards her. Her eyes widened. It was… Him. Gary Sheffield. He was at her school! What was he doing here? Then she realised that she had literally told him what school she went to... Sometimes she could be really stupid she thought. This might cause a problem. A Sheffield and an Aimes in the same school... Had he seen her magic? She wasn't sure. "Hey!" He repeated, but quieter this time.

"Hey..." Rainbow replied, nervous that she was talking to him. Last time, she had received a really bad punishment. Her hand subconsciously lifted to her neck. "What do you want?" She asked, quickly putting up her popular girl facade and lowering her hand.

"I just… wanted to see a familiar face…" Gary answered. "Plus I... thought we were friends?" He added ignoring her initial harsh tone. She looked at him confused. For most guys their age, friendship was the last thing they wanted. She crossed her arms and stopped walking.

"Friends?" She questioned, he looked confused. Maybe he didn't meet many teenagers, being the great mayor's son.

"Yeah... y'know since I saved your life and everything?" He explained to her. She glared at him and shoved him. She was surprisingly stronger than she looked.

"Firstly, I would've been fine without you so you didn't 'save me'. Secondly, can we not talk about that *here*?" She argued, putting her hands on her hips. She didn't want anyone to overhear their conversation and think that she actually hung out with this guy. Gary rolled his eyes and then nodded.

"Sure," He started "I know an amazing café in town that..." he trailed off when he saw her expression. "What?"

"So you're trying to ask me out?" She asked, clearly uninterested in whatever he was offering. He looked confused. "I bet you think you're really smooth..." she mumbled, crossing her arms.

"I just want to be your friend..." Gary explained and she scoffed. "I just... I've never really had a proper friend before..." he tried to connect with her over anything he could.

"Well... I'm about the last person you could possibly want to be your friend..." She mumbled as her guard fell slightly. Then she realised what she'd said and pinked out of embarrassment. "Anyway... You made me late now!" She huffed and walked off without saying anything else.

"Wait! What class do you have? We could walk together?" He called out as he struggled to keep up with her. She clenched her fists and walked faster and eventually lost him.
