Gary came out of the small convenience store holding some flowers. They weren't the prettiest but they would do. He started on his journey and noticed that not many people were out, even though it was raining it was still quite strange. The town square was normally bustling with activity.
He thought about Ruby again... and Dave. They had taken advantage of his trust... But Ruby had said something about being hired? Who would pay her? Who would pay Essex to do that? Who's interest would it be in? He thought back to this morning with his father, he was sure his dad had got a letter from Essex... Maybe he was just thinking too much into it. His father is the mayor!
Gary looked up and realised that he'd reached his destination. The graveyard. As he walked in the sky gave a threatening rumble, it was promising a storm. He wound through the older graves and went to a separate section. He passed under a metal arch that connected the two fences. He walked down the section of deceased Sheffields, he knew every one of their names.
Kristy Sheffield.
That was her. The newest grave. He gently placed down the flowers on the grave and sighed. The Sheffield graves had the best upkeep out of all the others however he also knew that his mother's grave was empty. There were speculations about what happened to her. She had jumped on a boat and left, assassins killed her, someone kidnapped her. Gary knew that none of them were true though. He'd just woken up one morning and she was gone...
