Gary trudged back to his room with his hands firmly shoved into his jeans pockets. Whenever his dad acted up like this his mother had always been there to comfort him and thinking about her now made his heart ache. Even though it had been quite a while since his mother had disappeared, it was still a fresh wound to him. His father provided him with small doses of love but it was always inconsistent and only came when he'd done something good or helpful.
The more Gary thought about it, the more he longed for another close relationship with someone. It turned out though that he wasn't very good at being a teenager... This meant that he wasn't able to make friends as they either exploited him or backstabbed him apparently. Then Gary had an idea... He hopped out of his room and downstairs to the front door, grabbing his coat and wallet on the way. After he'd pulled on his trainers, he walked out into the grey and damp weather of the afternoon.
"Ugh... England..." He muttered under his breath as he headed to the small convenience store down the street.
