Chapter 39 - (Chapter 39) People In The Darkness 8

The wind howled as the rain fell. The constant sound of rain hitting the roof along with the wind made ominous noise.

"You bitch! How dare you do this!" Father Ku's voice was filled with malice and bloodlust.

In the corner of the large hall, a young Yuon shivered slightly, he had never seen his grandfather get so angry in his short life so far...

The loud sound of a body kneeling was heard. "No, no father. This is a misunderstanding. Misunderstanding." A distraught female voice could be heard, she sounded feeble and weak.

"Father!? You have the guts to call me father! You bitch! How dare you! I raised you through thick and thin, but now you became an ungrateful wrench that sleeps with any man you could get your hand on!" If Father Ku could spitfire, he would be by now. His red eyes and shaking hands just made him seem like he would jump on his daughter any second.

Tears dropped on to the floor. "Father, father. It was a misunderstanding, I never cheated. I was set up!" The woman tried to fight back.

The sound of a slam hit the floor next to her, as she shivered and cowered. "Damn you Maria! How could you say you never cheated? You have a bastard child and your husband was tested to be impotent!" Kiera's shrill voice could be heard beside Father Ku.

Father Ku then stopped shaking, and became calm. Too calm, his cold eyes stared at the daughter he had adopted, while he only adopted her to do a friend a favor, he treated her equal to his only daughter.

Maria's long black hair was completely disheveled. She had marks all over her face as her pale face stared in disbelief at what was happening.

"From now onwards, you won't be known as Maria Fude. Your name will be stripped and you will be working in the servants quarters. There will be someone to escort you out." Father Ku mercilessly gave his final judgment in a stone-cold voice.

Maria's face filled with despair, as the scars on her face stung from her tears. "Yes." She could barely respond above a whisper, as she lowered her shaking head.

No one in the hall saw the malicious glimmer in Kiera's eyes at that point. 'It took me so long to make father hate you, now your life will be hell for you and your child.' She hid her smirk away with a desolate sob.

Father Ku's heart turned to stone, as he no longer had a second grandson, then there was no reason to treat them as he did anymore.

Housekeeper We escorted Maria back to her room. She had a constant stare of disgust thrown at her from the guards pulling her along.

"Mummy!" A cheerful voice came through the ears of Maria as soon as she opened the door. The stress of everything that had happened was building...

Housekeeper We previously liked this little boy. But after hearing what happened... He could no longer look at this bastard any longer!

"I hope you would be quick, Maria." He scornfully reminded that Carol was no longer a Madam of the family anymore. Making her shake.

Stella frowned, "What's the matter mummy? Why are you crying? Housekeeper We is something wrong?" A children's perception was strong, along with seeing her mother cry it was obvious that Stella could sense something was wrong.

Housekeeper We gave a cold smirk. "Sorry, I'm sorry my baby. I let you down." Maria instantly broke down at the worried state of her child. As so many feelings and memories went through her at that moment.

6 yeard old Stella was confused. "I hope you finish in a minute, work starts early." Housekeeper We gave a 'friendly' reminder.

Maria's eyes looked downcast, as she looked at Stella something glimmered in her eyes. She hid it and attempted to smile. "Come baby, come with mummy." Maria coaxed with a much calmer smile.

Stella felt protected in her mother's arms. She didn't know what was happening, but Housekeeper We and the guard's faces scared her.

Maria took barely anything with her, as she and Stella walked down into the servant rooms.

"Here you are, enjoy." Housekeeper We scornfully closed the door. Leaving the room pitch black.

Stella became scared. "Mummy." She almost cried out, but she remembered her words growing up.

"Never cry like a girl, never show you are a girl. Always show you are a man." Those words were etched into her head at a young age. Along with always dressing as a boy, she took more male characteristics.

"It'll be fine Stella, mummy's here. Mummy's here." Maria's voice seemed to be desolate, she had lost all hope of living now.

She grew up in the house, she knew what this room was. It was a torture room used for servants! The cold floor and walls, a tiny window. A person would feel so isolated, and now she had lost everything.

She lost everything, nobody would listen to her. Nobody believed her, her husband that she loved abandoned her for another woman. Her father took her sister's side.

'Why? Why did this happen?' She couldn't understand, she had everything. And now she was less than a servant, it was just in due time until she and her daughter were tortured to death.

Maria then stopped patting Stella's back, as she looked at Stella's face.

"Mummy?" Stella felt her mother's look was odd...

Maria shook her head. "Nothing baby, let's go to sleep." She coaxed as her eyes went black.

Stella eventually fell asleep while leaning against her mother. Maria's tears slowly fell from her cheeks onto Stella's face.

.........

Stella's face went red in the middle of the night, as the young girl suddenly became unable to breathe.

She opened her eyes in a panic, only to feel the hand grasp her neck harder.

"It was your fault, why did I not have a child with him? Why do you look nothing like him at all? You don't look like me either? Are you trying to get me killed?" Maria's voice was hysterical, it was clear she had gone mad.

Stella couldn't breathe. She tried to get away... But it was her mother... She never disobeyed her mother.

"M....um...y" Stella could barely cry out as her tears fell onto Maria's hand.

Maria stiffened. What was she doing? How could she do this to her own child?

Maria let go immediately, obvious Stella was absolutely petrified now. She clambered to breathe as she clawed herself away.

"Mummy's sorry, mummy's sorry." Maria mumbled, how could she do that? She deserved to die. Why did she try to kill her own daughter?

Stella's tiny body shook in a corner, as she watched Maria tear some of her clothing, she made a knot on the bars on the window. Then made a small area to fit her head...

Maria jumped into the space made for her head. Stella shook, tears poured out of her face. "Mummy. Stella is sorry, I won't be bad anymore." Her raspy voice could be heard, as Maria's body stopped struggling.
