"Then you must be unhappy here, isn't it?" Yilas said softly, her voice was filled with sadness, if he was unhappy here, maybe it was best to not tie him down here, she thought.
Viosus shook his head again, this time more certain.
"You don't have to lie to me, Vio, I have watched you closely for the past few days, your body was just moving with there was no soul or feelings presence." Yilas sighed, her expression was more depressing, her voice was shaking at the end. "... And I know it was my fault, that's what troubled me painfully...."
Viosus finally looked up at Yilas, he didn't deny what she said though he looked like a guilty puppy, couldn't even speak up.
"I had thought about you a lot, and I want the best for you so I just want to say if you're no longer happy or comfortable here, please don't hold back your happiness for anyone's sake. I am giving you permission to do whatever you want so please don't think that you owed me or anyone in this house anything... I-I..."
Words choked up at Yilas's throat, she had completely broken her heart into two saying these things because she believed Viosus deserved to be happy, even if that meant without her in his life.
A droplet of water dropped on her face, Yilas was shocked, she had thought she couldn't cry anymore but a drop of water touched her cheek, running down her face. But to her surprised, more droplets landed on her face, some even on top of her eyelids. It was the rain falling from the sky, not her tears, sprinkling out of nowhere.
Viosus expression became irritated, he angrily got closer to Yilas and gripped her shoulders tight with his hands. Inside he was hurt by what she said, was she kicking him out of the house, he thought, how could she be so heartless.
"Even if you want me away, I will not leave, this is my home and I will never abandon you or our family!" Viosus said firmly, his stern expression scared Yilas. She thought he must have misunderstood her words.
Yilas reached out to caress Vio's cheek, she looked at him endearingly.
"This will forever be your home Vio and we are forever family..."
"Then why are you saying that? You know how I feel Yilly..." Viosus interrupted Yilas, his green eyes were burning like two hot coals, disbelieving what she just said.
"It's just that you have been ignoring me and acted coldly towards others, I don't know what to help you, I thought you hated us." Yilas forced out a smile but it couldn't help but curbed downward.
"I'm sorry...It was my fault for acting so selfishly but please, don't push me away, I will fix it, I will change my attitude Yilly." The look on his face was what they called desperation, he was begging Yilas.
"I'm not pushing you away Vio, I had only wanted to pull you closer..." Yilas couldn't bear to see the sadness in Viosus's face, she inched closer and hugged at his waist, her arms knitted closely together behind his back.
Dumbfounded by her action, Viosus didn't know what to do, if he hadn't acted out his emotions so carelessly, Yilas and the others wouldn't be so worried. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got at himself.
They stood quietly holding each other, the rain occasionally sprinkling on them. Once Yilas heartbeat had slowed down and her head became calm, she took a deep breath in and gathered all her courage.
"I-I can't live without you!" Yilas said shyly, the words were barely audible.
Once the word came to Viosus's ears, his heart stopped, it had forgotten to pump for a moment. Viosus thought his heart must be fooling him.
"What did you say?" Vio pulled Yilas away from him, his eyes desperately looking for hers but she was so embarrassed she couldn't look at him directly. Yilas face became redder than a tomato, her heart which was just calm a second ago now was beating out of control.
"I- It's embarrassing, but I sai-said... I also L-Lo-Love you..." Yilas took sometimes to finish her sentence but the words finally came out. Viosus couldn't believe his own ears, his eyes were glued on Yilas's lips, trying to read what she was saying.
However this time, Vio had successfully processed the information, he wasn't dreaming this was real, Yilas had said it. A giant wave of happiness overcame his body, he felt like his entire existence was like a feather, flying off the ground.
Viosus's face was also flustered, he thought he had gone to heaven and back. All the sorrow he experienced had been completely wiped off existence, he had never been happier in his entire life. Viosus burst out laughing satisfyingly, he lifted Yilas off the ground and swing her around in a circle. The quiet night around them was quickly filled with warm laughter, the rain even stopped to admire them together.
"I love you too, I do..." Viosus finally let Yilas down when she started to feel dizzy. He didn't forget to embraced for tight with his arms, her entire tiny body was swallowed whole by his hug.
"Vio, there something else I need to tell you." Yilas words were barely escaping because she was held to tight against Vio's chest. He had loosened his grip, his arms rested lovingly around her slender waist. Yilas continued.
"I had been thinking a lot about the spouses and stuff..." As soon as Yilas mentioned the word spouse, Viosus thought of the snake, he couldn't help but furrowed his bushy brows. "And you know that we can't just ignore his request... "
Yilas was hesitant to continue, was she too selfish for what she about to say, she thought, was she a bad person?
"But I want you to be my first Vio, I truly can't live without you and with you being my first husband and Sabal being my second, maybe we can all live happily together. "
A smile appeared on Viosus's face, he couldn't keep the happiness from overflowing from him. One, two, and then three tears escaped his eyes. This moment where it was only a dream to Vio finally came true, Yilas and he can finally be together forever, loving and caring for each other till their old age.
Yilas became anxious seeing Viosus cried, she tried to wipe away his tears but her hand was imprisoned by Viosus's hand. He held her writs tight and kissed on her palm lovingly. Yilas finally understand that those tears were for a great reason, she giggled at how adorable Viosus was.
"Oh! By a husband, I mean spouses, I call you husband and you call me wife, it's sorta like a cute nickname for each other. And marriage is something use to indicate the acceptance of each other." Yilas didn't forget to
"Yes, Yilly is Wife." Viosus grinned brightly from ear to ear showing all of his pearly teeth, his cheeks were still blushing so he looked ten times more handsome. Looking at his current expression, Yilas thought she had missed it so much, she would never want to see any misery in Viosus's eyes ever again.
They decided to walk back to the house since it was already too late, Yilas stopped at her door and asked Viosus.
"When should we tell the others?" Yilas walked in her room and Viosus followed her, to him it was only natural if they stayed in the same place now since they were spouses, but his action still confused Yilas. "Ummm... Did you want to sleep over here tonight?"
"Can I sleep here? Have you not accepted me as your husband?" Yilas was dumbfounded, she had thought they might wait a couple of days and held a ceremony or something like in the 21-st century but it seemed like the beast world was much more simple-minded.
"No, I do but it was just so sudden I am not ready to do the thing yet."
Viosus quickly understood what Yilas meant, he didn't mean to rush her, he had only wanted to rest next to her tonight.
"It's alright, you know I will wait for you, wife." Viosus kissed Yilas forehead and picked her up, tugging her under her blanket. After saying goodnight, Vio transformed into a big fox and laid on the ground, he rolled around a few times before sleeping to expel all the snake scent lingering. Yilas had one hand hanging off the bed, petting his soft fur before drifting off to dreamland.
*Lick, lick* Yilas felt something funny and warm on her face. She was only half awake when she opened one eye to find a red ball of fur with bright green eyes staring at her.
"Good morning, Vio" Yilas petted him and yawned big, since when had he gotten up the bed with her.
She opened her eyes widely to realize that Vio wasn't on the bed, she was the one fell on the ground, sleeping next to him. Yilas couldn't remember what she dreamt last night but it must have been a wild one.
Moreover, she realized she was laying on top of Viosus, it must have been uncomfortable for him. Yilas jumped off her cozy fur bed in an instant and apologized to Viosus. He turned back into his human-like form and landed a good morning kiss on Yilas's cheek. If he had known his wife liked his fur so much he would have cuddled her up securely.
They went to prepare breakfast together, a beautiful harmonious atmosphere danced around the two. Merth and Little Crow were secretly exchanging looks, Viosus didn't come back to the shed last night and his attitude changed a complete 180 so they guessed something good had happened between them. Though they couldn't complain since they were all routing for Viosus, they just secretly giggled behind their backs.
