In PUBG, protective equipment like helmets and vests were separated into three levels.
Level 1 helmets had a durability of 80, level 2 helmets had a durability of 150, and level 3 helmets had a durability of 230.
Level 1 vests had a durability of 200, level 2 vests had a durability of 220, and level 3 vests had a durability of 300.
The three levels of protective equipment all offered damage reduction. Level 1 equipment offered 30%, level 2 equipment offered 40%, and level 3 equipment offered 55%.
The higher the level of the protective equipment, the bigger the advantage it gave, and the higher the chance one would have of winning a gunfight face-off.
Lin Ye's level 3 vest was godlike in close range fights as it could reduce damage by 55%. Sometimes, it could even withstand blasts from a Vector, the king of close-range combat.
So, with luxurious equipment like an AKM and a level 3 vest, Lin Ye felt confident rushing the main building.
Lin Ye held the shift key and sprinted the entire way. When he was a dozen meters away from the prison building, he suddenly saw a player jumping off of the second-floor balcony of a little red building to his right.
This player had a green helmet, a level 1 vest, and a crossbow on his back. After landing on the ground, he ignited his molotov cocktail and ran towards Lin Ye with flames trailing his path.
"Is this the legendary kamikaze?" Lin Ye trashed talked, but his hands didn't slow down.
He aimed and turned on his sight.
The red dot in the center of his sight immediately locked onto the player.
Tatata!
Tatata!
Tatata!
After a round of shooting, the green-helmet player got killed by Lin Ye before he could even throw the molotov cocktail.
"Linye killed kuisi080 with AKM."
Quadrakill!
Ta!
Ta!
Ta!
After Lin Ye finished shooting, distinguishable footsteps sounded from behind him. Clearly, somebody was moving within the prison building. After carefully listening to the sound of that noise, Lin Ye determined that player to be on the third floor in a room towards the west.
Lin Ye felt like he was on fire. Without hesitation, he held his AKM and dashed towards the third floor of the building. He was going to kill the last player and clear Prison.
He sprinted.
First floor… Second floor...
After ten seconds or so, Lin Ye's shadow quickly turned the four corners of the staircase, and the third floor came into his view.
At the innermost door on the west side of the hallway, there was a bald-headed player aiming at the end of the stairs with his gun in hand.
At the next moment, Lin Ye's shadow appeared at the end of the staircase.
Bang!
The crisp sound of a shot rang throughout the building.
"A Kar98?" Hearing the gunshot didn't send Lin Ye into a panic. Instead, he was surprised and overjoyed.
Pop!
The bald player who had the 98K wasn't accurate with his shot. He had been camping the stairwell for a while, but he still missed when Lin Ye appeared.
The player ejected the empty shell from the gun.
The 98K was a bolt action rifle, so it wasn't able to fire continuous shots. Thus, the bald player wanted to reload and try again.
However, Lin Ye had already dashed out of the stairwell and wasn't going to give him any chances.
He raised his gun, aimed, and switched on his scope.
Ta! Ta! Ta!
"Linye headshotted tianhayi7008 with AKM."
The three single burst shots immediately killed the bald player by hitting him in the head.
Pentakill!
Lin Ye was on a rampage. Quickly, somebody please stop him!
After killing the bald player and without saying a word, Lin Ye dashed up to the death crate and equipped the 98K in the crate.
Surprisingly, this player only had a 98K, not even having a helmet. However, he had lots of medical items. He had five first aid kits alone, eight bottles of energy drinks, and three bottles of painkillers. He could've been a very good medic.
However, he holed up in the prison building, and Lin Ye found him and killed him on a rampage before he had a chance to get stronger. He was incredibly unlucky.
8X scope paired with 98K!
Lin Ye switched his guns as his luxurious equipment leveled up again. He was looking forward to seeing how terrifyingly strong the 98K would be in his hands, especially now that he had the Demon King Talent [Sniper Rifle Mastery] buffing him up.
Click! Click!
As Lin Ye pushed the yellow bullets into the cartridge, he said in a pretentious tone, "I landed on this 98K; this game is already over."
As soon as he finished speaking, the bullet comments began trash-talking him.
"Lin Ye, you really are smug now. The game's not even over yet; don't you have any self-awareness?"
"LOL~ a Douyu streamer earns millions from being pretentious!"
"You're a 900-point bronze streamer talking with such a big mouth. I'm unfollowing, I'm unfollowing."
"Landed on a 98K? You're so cool, why don't you go to the sky and fly next to the sun?"
"Smug Streamer, I've seen your PUBG streams before. Your skill is on the same level as that noob Little Bear. Don't you feel ashamed, acting so pretentiously?"
Lin Ye's words sounded arrogant, but judging from his previous average performance, his audience were all doubtful.
"Sit tight and watch the show," Lin Ye calmly said.
After picking up the 98K, a large amount of game knowledge flowed into Lin Ye's head, and they all seemed high level. Clearly, this was the use of the Demon King Talent [Sniper Rifle Mastery].
Within a moment, Lin Ye felt like he completely understood how the 98K should be used. From the aim, the trajectory, and the rhythm...
He learned all the sniping techniques and felt like he could use them impeccably.
So, right now, Lin Ye was very curious to see what kind of explosive power this 98K had in his hands.
- On the other side -
After Lin Ye went on a rampage at Prison, the blue zone was almost done shrinking. He pressed the M key to check the map and saw that the first zone was on the northwest portion of the main island, with Ruins and Flooded City as its center. Sosnovka Military Base was almost completely eliminated.
Of course, Prison was located on the east side of the main island and didn't belong to the first safe zone. To ensure victory, he had to find a vehicle and head towards the safe zone's center.
He sprinted out of the square of Prison and ran towards the road by going up the hill. There weren't many cars spawned nearby, and if he was unlucky, he might have to travel on foot this round.
Lin Ye raised his eyes and scanned around constantly.
Jeep!
Suddenly, Lin Ye saw that there was a dark green jeep parked by the road about a hundred meters to his left.
He turned around.
Before Lin Ye could begin running, he saw a player with a level 2 helmet appear from the direction of Shelter who was running for the jeep as well.
He raised his gun and aimed.
He switched to his 8x scope and placed the center of the crosshairs on the path of that player.
The next second.
His fingertip lightly moved and pulled the trigger.
Lin Ye's lips curved and showed a smile of confidence.
He was completely confident in this 98K shot!
