Crisp nightfall wrapped the Ducal residence. Little bugs of fire light left their comforts of home, lighting up the darkness with warm tones of gold and amber.
Whimsically floating and dancing, a few lit up the faces of three large men down below. Bravely some landed on the oldest one's shoulders.
Roy clicked his tongue.
"Oh Little Al, already entering the second day, still she stubbornly refuses to leave that man's side. Just what has gotten into her?" Roy shook his head in bafflement.
"Besides an assortment of terrible wounds, tattered clothes, what is there for her to gain? That willful little mouse, who would believe she'd take in a burden without some form of profit? She'd done the same with gullible Krad here, even to the point the fool refused to see reason."
"Roy, it's not nice to talk behind someone's back, this I know." Von sighed heavily. "But answer me this, why must you do it to the poor fool's face?"
Von looked to Krad whom remained silent in pity. Ever since the man had been brought on as his daughter's guard, Roy's venomous tongue showed no mercy to the poor fellow. His personal guard Roy had never been so talkative. It's as if he'd returned to his academy days.
What Von didn't know was that Roy was beyond bitter with Krad. No, not just bitter, he'd reached the level where mere lemons could not pucker his lips. Even if hundreds had past his tongue, their acid could never injury him like the bitterness he felt for Krad.
Roy could let pass the role of guard for his little niece. So what if it was stolen from him? He had no problems with that. None at all. He swears! But by the gods, he did not agree to that fool taking hold of his story time. That was his personal time with his darling niece!
THAT BASTARD! He endlessly cursed, hoping the god Furvus would hear and strike him down! Even his Pepper gave more attention to that bastard!
"What room do you have to talk, Von?" Roy snorted at his lord's roaming eyes, refusing to look anywhere but him. "Seriously, makes me wonder who Little Al got this greedy stubborn streak from. Von, whom do you think's to blame, mmm?"
Disturbed by Von's poor attempts of changing the subject, his coughing scattered the innocent bugs resting on his shoulders. "Enough useless chatter."
Von's expression became serious. "It's time." Roy too had wiped the smirk off his lips. Both looked towards their younger companion.
"Krad, as per ordered by his majesty the emperor, Roy and I must attend to business and won't be returning for a few days- possibly longer." Von narrowed his eyes. "The residence is under your supervision until our return. Protect our family well."
Von patted Krad's shoulder, squeezing it hard. "All is to be as I left it when I return, understood?"
"Understood, my lord."
Upon seeing his lord off, staying a bit longer as both men vanished into the darkness, Krad drew his sword, stabbing into a nearby tree.
"You live only at the grace of my lord." Krad emotionlessly spoke.
Laying pinned to the tree, shadow wrapping all but his face, was a man cloaked in black. His eyes full of anger pointed daggers towards Krad.
"Inform your master, we appreciate the warm bodies kindly donated our way. Our manor's beasts have been quite sated as of late." Krad smirked as he released the man back into the night.
Knitting his brows, a flash of disgust washed across his face as he pulled out a handkerchief, cleaning his blade. "It's been long enough, anymore and she'll make herself sick."
Krad wasn't happy with how his lady had been acting. That man must have accomplished something grand in his past life to have her treat him so well. Only her creatures were given such unconditional care. None ranked as high as them. Even her mother, Huen, Ruleck and Purna were ranked lower- well besides the lord her father whom needed no rank.
To be perfectly honest, Krad felt quite bitter. Luckily, his strong consolation was the man's origins. Kuhron's hated those of other races, instinctually so as they're actions were beast-like, territorial and vicious. So he had no doubt once the man had awoken, he would definitely leave.
Though unaware of whether or not the man knows gratitude, possibly attacking his exhausted mistress, Krad hadn't needed to worry. Resting by her side was her original guard. Ash rarely ever left Alicia's shadow, as he was highly protective of his mother.
He had confidence in this. He was completely sure of his thoughts as he took his time down the hall.
Yet, as he turned into the room adjacent to Alicia's own room, he froze. What.Was.This! Fury raged throughout this mother hen at what he was witnessing.
Fully awake, still laying upon his side, Silver had managed to pull the lovely child, Alicia into bed. Brought closer to him, he could fully enjoy the smell of sunshine that seemed to radiate from her.
Alicia's head rested at the crevices of Silver's right arm, pulled close to his chest as he dug his nose into the tops of her hair. Languidly draping over and across Alicia, his left hand's fingers continued to play with her hair.
He'd been so absorbed in this action, he wasn't made aware of Krad's entry. Least not until his boots heavily stomp his way towards them.
A growl escaped Silver's throat as he glared. Those fierce crimson eyes watched Krad who had stopped a few steps away. Subconsciously he pulled Alicia closer to him, protectively so.
Fuming hotter at these actions, Krad grabbed for Alicia, but was halted by Silver's left hand wrapping around his thick neck. Grey versus Red, the two eyes both full of fight and heated fury glared relentlessly.
Krad was obviously the stronger party, yet he did not take this man lightly. Silver himself lifted his lips into a sinister smile. Not at all did he act the part of an injured man, digging his nails into Krad skin, tightening his hold.
This ruthless Kuhron did not betray Krad's expectations. And so, catching Silver off guard, he shamelessly jabbed his injury.
"Huamp!" Silver gasped. Pulling back and out of his grasp, Silver's nails left behind bloody scratches along Krad's freed neck.
Taking advantage of this respite, Krad scooped Alicia up and out of Silver's arms, mumbling something as he did.
"Say that again!" Silver roared aloud. Whatever Krad had said, apparently hit a nerve.
Stopping at the door, Krad did not even turn as he spoke louder this time. "Ungrateful beast."
And with that, he walked out, instructing the staff to call for the healer. Of course he told them to take their time, as much as they needed. Though he drew blood, Krad did not care. If the man were to die, he still would not care.
Few minutes passed and the healer arrived. Staff walked into the room unfazed by the blood staining the sheet. Standing by the side, per their instructions, they informed the man of the where's why's and what's.
Silver listened, clenching his teeth as the healer patched him up. He listened to their words carefully.
"Young mistress Alicia brought our guest in, cared for, and hasn't left our guest's side. Thanks to her careful guidance, you our honored guest have waded through two fevers and wound infections, making it out by the grace of god."
"Where was I found?"
"Apologies honored guest, this one knows not the answer. Perhaps once young mistress Alicia has awoken, honored guest can inquire with her. Young mistress Alicia's room's just beyond the wall."
Silver hummed in response. Millions of thoughts ran through his eyes but he closed them, letting his weight sink into the bed.
Noticing this, the servants tactfully lead the healer out of the room, coming back in to take away the bloodied sheets, then closing the door, shutting off the lights.
"Haa, huu, haa, huu," Steadily breathing, Sliver looked to have fallen asleep as his eyes raced across his lids.
"Father, why can't I marry mother, mother's perfect!" Little Silver pouted, glaring up towards his father.
"Your mother is mine, you ungrateful brat." Unhesitatingly Averick kicked his son. Silver flew out fast, knocking into an black iron tree with a bang. "Let me hear your words one more time boy. I'm sure the rift goblins would find you tasty."
"That's not fair, why can't father share?" Silver wiped a trail of blood from his lips. "I love mother too!"
"Boy, your mother is my light, find your own!" Averick kicked off from the ground, appearing right before his son. Grabbing Silver by the hair, he heartlessly threw him towards the cliff side.
Silver's small hands grabbed tight to the cliff's edge, stopping his fall. He looked up, right into his father's red eyes, the same as his own.
"Once you find it, you'll look back and eat your words. We Kuhron's do not share." At the end of his words he smirked devilishly. With a single stomp he destroyed the cliff side, walking away as Silver fell.
Within the darkness of the room, a pair of red glowing eyes opened, then closed soon after. Silver smiled, a devilish smirk just like his old man's.
"Indeed, we do not share."
