Chapter 40 - 2.15

"And, here we go." Said Nicholas Watson proudly, he pressed the button on his laptop and suddenly, all the alarms rang, he took that as the music celebrating how skillful he was.

Dean O'Sullivan heard the alarm, he quickly unlocked the door and put down the guard. The following plan was supposed to be evacuated from the back door, but of course, he wouldn't do that, another show was about to begin, the only difference was, this show was for Astoria Leontes, who was firmly sure that she dominated everything, well, it's going to be interesting, Dean O'Sullivan smirked.

After all, Astoria Leontes didn't know him as much as he did to her.

So, Dean O'Sullivan walked to Astoria Leontes' office casually, just like a normal day of work, and he was going to greet her before he started. It was dangerous to be around smart people. a tiny breach of his discreet disguise could send him to death. Dangerous but thrilling, and Dean O'Sullivan happened to love being thrilled.

"Afternoon, OSullivan." Said Astoria Leontes, she seemed not surprised at all.

"You are very calm." Said Dean O'Sullivan when he was getting coffee from her coffee machine.

"I am. So are you." Astoria Leontes smiled, her red lips were perfect drawn, "What's the news, my dear?"

Her strong Northern European accent just added a decent amount of misery and delicacy to her; indeed, she was a charming woman.

"Yes," He shrugged, "Let's just say I was right, you have a mole in your division, and it happened to be the person you newly recruited."

"Such a provocation." Astoria Leontes said slowly, "I suspected him already, now he got into the trap by himself. Daniel Heinrich presumes himself as a smart man, so how do you make a smart man dumb?"

Dean O'Sullivan didn't answer, so she continued: "Simple, you just let him assumes he's the smartest man and then he'll be blind."

He wouldn't stand on the opposite side of Astoria Leontes if she didn't use his wife for her goods. She was using his wife, and he couldn't predict what she would do after she got what she wanted. Would she kill Velika O'Sullivan? Or would she keep his wife as a close asset? he would choose the first option over the second. He knew his wife, she was forced to join the organization, and now she had a chance to be free, she was sentimental, though she denied it all the time. The only reason she fought for Astoria Leontes was him, and he was all she had. Romeo Leontes took away her dream, her hope, she had to defeat him so she could feel the satisfaction, that's why she stood on Astoria Leontes' side. But Dean O'Sullivan was different, he would love to stand aside and watch how things went, however, when he heard his wife was in the game, he couldn't just stand there and watch like he was never a part of it, he had to protect her. She was his only weakness. Their relationship was a curse that could never dispel. At least this is what Dean O'Sullivan thought so.

"Now, shall we go check on him? Astoria Leontes suggested, and he followed her, "Trust me, this is going to be a really big surprise."

"Certainly." He lifted one side of his lips, came back to reality from his thoughts. Was she going to believe in the act, or she was going to come up with a plan against them?

Daniel Heinrich was nervously wandering around in the operation center, kept rubbing his hands, this was truly the moment made him sweat, he had never been through these feelings before, everything he had experienced was formerly planned, and this operation was blind who knew what Astoria Leontes would do.

He saw Dean O'Sullivan and Astoria Leontes came in together, the moment of truth had come.

"Look at this rational boy, after all, you knelt for the beauty." Said Astoria Leontes tautly, "You do love her, do you? Otherwise why would you gamble?"

"It's not about Velika." Daniel Heinrich narrowed his eyes and held his arms, there were two armed guards behind him, he couldn't get away, not even in chaos. The show started, he hoped that Dean O'Sullivan could assist him well.

"Now you address her by her first name," Astoria Leontes smiled and turned to Dean O'Sullivan, "You do know she is Dean's wife, right? Now we are having an affair going on here."

She was trying to provoke conflict between Daniel Heinrich and Dean O'Sullivan. Daniel Heinrich saw the Irish narrowed his eyes, he took his wife as his possession, although he sensed his wife wouldn't stay with him anymore, this wasn't the perfect time to discuss it, Daniel Heinrich had to hold Dean O'Sullivan still on his side.

"I do know." Daniel Heinrich sneered, "I address her by her first name only because here stands another O'Sullivan."

Dean O'Sullivan was staring at him, he felt nervous, this collaboration was very important, a matter of life or death, he wasn't so sure what Dean O'Sullivan would do. From Daniel Heinrich's knowledge, Dean O'Sullivan was ignorant, arrogant, he wouldn't let others take his belongings unless he didn't want them, this was also confirmed by Velika O'Sullivan. He took his wife as his belonging, as they remained married after all these years without seeing each other. Normally people wouldn't suspect, but it was Dean O'Sullivan that he was dealing with. This man would rather believe a lie.

Astoria Leontes rolled up her eyes: "Take Heinrich to the basement, and Dean, I want you to take a team, go meet your wife, and let her go, I want to see what she'll do with her new favorite."

"Yes, ma'am." Answered Dean O'Sullivan, he gave Daniel Heinrich a quick nod when he passed by the prisoner.

###

Velika O'Sullivan had waited for nearly an hour, if her husband didn't show up within ten minutes, she would presume the operation was canceled and evacuate. Her arm still hurt, even it was much better now, she didn't care much about the physical wound, but she did mind the mental trauma her husband left her. Why would he even come back?

She saw him appeared at the corner, with a team behind him. Time to start the game, she waited, made sure he saw her, then quickly pretended she was going to get into her car.

"Velika!" Dean O'Sullivan shouted out her name, and aimed at her, "Get out of the car."

"Oh hell," She swore and came out, slammed the door behind her, she then wondered if she overreacted.

"Nice to see you again, wife," Dean O'Sullivan came close to her, and the whole team was aiming at her, but she didn't raise her hands, "How's your arm, I hope you get better."

"It's fine now, what do you want from me, husband?" Velika O'Sullivan gritted her teeth, she had no clue what happened in Natural and she wasn't sure what Astoria Leontes was going to decide, but she figured she would be sent free. Only with her walked free, she could reach Romeo Leontes, that was the core purpose of Astoria Leontes' play.

"Leontes told me to let you go, what a shame." Dean O'Sullivan shook his head, he gave her a thoughtful look, "I would like to catch you myself and that will be such an honor."

"She loves to see her prey torture to death slowly rather than one quick shot," Velika O'Sullivan stared into his eyes with faith and said, "You should learn more about your boss, as you work for her now."

"You can't get out of this, you have to lose," He was still aiming at her, emphasized on 'have to', she got his meaning right away, "You know what's best for you, my dear."

"Come on, let's skip the emotional part," Velika O'Sullivan laughed, "I can take care of myself and I'll win, just sit tight and watch."

She then jumped into her car, drove away as fast as she could.

After she went back to her loft, she threw herself into the bed and stared at the ceiling aimlessly, what now? So far, Dean O'Sullivan, her cunning husband was saved, Astoria Leontes would partially believe in his loyalty, which was a relief. Then what about Daniel Heinrich? She had to save him. He was nothing but a bait at this moment, she felt guilty and sorry for him. Everyone was taking advantage of him, including herself, she used his trust so that she could reach her aim. And for Astoria Leontes, he was a prop in the play to capture Romeo Leontes' sight.

Sometimes when she got frustrated, she couldn't help thinking why her life couldn't be as normal as ordinary people. Since the very beginning, she was cursed, she was the child that no one cared, the one got left behind, then when she met Dean O'Sullivan, she once again had hope in her hands. Then, in a flash, everything she had was gone. Once she had the naive belief that if she fought, never gave in, she would have an extraordinary life eventually, with her perfect husband. After her husband left her, she was suffering a mental crisis, without even thinking, she agreed to join Natural. What else could she lose? The thought that the friendly young man, Romeo Leontes who showed up at her door, offered her the position kindly was the person who ruined her life, had never crossed her mind when he stood there, smiling at her, pretended to concern about her life story.

Dean O'Sullivan always said that she was emotional, though she denied it, she knew impeccably that she was sentimental. It was her sentiment that kept her in this play, be a major part of it, and kept going.

What if one day that she just couldn't pretend anymore? What if she decided to come clean?
