Chapter 44 - Chapter 44- Who is she?

I feel my heart tightened. If it's true, what should I do? I never thought that I would be affected like this even though it is not yet confirmed. My mind was frantic. I feel like my hand trembled but Ian casually holds it inside the table when he noticed my troubled face. I looked at him feeling thankful that he was able to calm me in his simple gesture.

"I haven't heard such news so it must be a fraud. If it's true, it will be properly announced. For now, let us just stop spouting this news, you might get in trouble. " Miss Dianne reprimanded. They all stopped talking at once feeling ashamed. I feel thankful to Miss Dianne because it mostly calmed me down. I should ask him first before jumping to the conclusion.

The topic was soon forgotten after one another. Somehow, I manage to put the feelings back to my mind and focus my attention on the surrounding people.

A group of entertainers on the stage were also present to entertain us while eating. They, too, wore masks to conceal their face but there was one who took it off, and everybody gasps to see a familiar face, at least to them. Her voice was pleasant to hear. I am familiar with the song since I sometimes listen to it on the radio while riding Ian's car. I might be wrong but I think the title of it was "Only you". After a mellow song, she sang a pop song with a good beat and everybody seemed to enjoy it.

"Woah! It's Selena Gomez!" one other girl exclaimed. "Oh my God! Did you know?" Blah blah blah.

It was so funny how they blubber from one person to another about other people's life. Once you get well-know or achieve something, people look at you to either praise you or find fault in you. They will put a lot of expectations and if not met, they criticize you as if they truly know you. The world is big and beautiful but mostly, people make it a scary place to live in. Just a simple mistake can make your life turn around. I wonder why it matters much.

"By the way, who is Selena Gomez?" I secretly asked Ian while murmuring behind his ears. I could see his bewildered face and stifled a laugh.

"She is a famous international singer. It was her original songs that she is singing right now." Ian answered the same way I did. He murmured behind my ears. "Do you want to meet her?"

I was surprised by his question. If he asked it, it only means that he knows the person personally.

"Well, if given a chance and time, yes. I like her songs." I answered somehow feeling delighted. Usually, I am not always a fan of patronizing people but since I like her songs, she might be the first.

"Since it is your first time to see interest in this kind of thing, let us meet her later." Ian gives me a wink through his mask. I laughed at his gesture. I was not aware that the people at our table were watching our interaction.

Another band was set up on the stage and I excused myself to the restroom. Miss Dianne also walked with me, but she was held back by one of the business associates, so I excused myself and went to the restroom alone.

After some time, I went back and noticed that there were people who started to dance at the center and the party became livelier. Our table was already empty and saw Ian and Andrew talking at the corner with another person.

As I was thinking about what to do, I was approached by a man in a blue fitted tuxedo paired with brown Italian leather shoes. He was also wearing a conspicuous blue mask surrounded by glittering small stones. He seemed to shine too brightly, literally.

"Good evening my lady!" His speech is somehow annoyingly high for a man to have. "I cannot help myself but be captivated by your beauty. Among all the ladies here, you seemed to be the most beautiful I've ever encountered. It seemed like this is a match in heaven meet. Would you like to dance with me?"

"Oh, I am sorry but I have to decline your offer, Sir. I am in a hurry right now." I smiled while declining his offer. After all, it was better to have a direct approach to a situation like this than running around the bush.

"Oh come on! You should have at least have a dance with me. You look so beautiful, and I am a handsome fellow too." The man insisted with a huge grin on his face. Ugh! It seemed that I have to deal with this kind of situation once again. I have been bothered by this kind of situation, so I think it is easy to slip by.

"I think I can't be par with you Sir but again, I have to decline," I said while smiling. Please take my hint while I am declining nicely. You might lose your ability to see your future children if you keep insisting.

"Honey, where have you been? It took you so long to come back, so I look for you everywhere." Honey? I gulped my surprise hearing those words from behind. Honey is the same as the Korean word Yuebo, it is a common married-couple endearment in Korea. My heart beats louder than expected. I am pretty sure who was behind me. I swiftly turned around and gave him the sweetest smile I could muster.

"Honey, thank you for coming to me! I was trying to come back as soon as possible." He offered his hand and I gladly accepted. He immediately hooked our arms while his hand was securely holding my hand. We walked away together from the embarrassed blue peacock fellow.

"Thank you!" I gently said, feeling grateful at the same time happy from seeing him.

"Even your face is hidden in a mask, you still attract useless bees, and they flock around you." Huh? I could hint an irritation to his voice. Did I do something wrong? Is this fellow came to me to pick a fight? I feel like my irritation was rising. And where does he think he was leading me?

"Are you picking a fight, Sir? And why are we going this way?" I asked feeling agitated. We walked deeper into the sea of people dancing in a love song. We finally stop, and he took my hands naturally attaching it around his neck. I gasped at how close we are at each other. I adjusted my hands sliding it, clasping his shoulders instead.

"Isn't it obvious? We are here to have our first dance." He leaned closer to my ears and whispered, "As couples." he added. I blushed how sweet it sounded. "Besides, I am too greedy to give it to others especially to that "date" of yours". His hand that gently wrapped around my waist tightened.

I smiled at the tune of his voice. He sounded jealous. We both sways to the tune of the sweet mellow love song.

"Are you jealous?" I asked as a purpose to tease him. His lips were tightened into a thin line as if contemplating to answer. His reaction tickled my heart. I wanted to tease him more.

"And if I am, what are you going to do?" He suddenly replied making me abruptly stop from swaying.

"W-what?" I startled.

"If I am jealous, what are you going to do?" he too stopped dancing, seriously asked. My mouth gaped apart in surprise.
