Chapter 77 - Spare class.

Since I had spare time at the end of the regular classes I decided to take an additional class. It was a long term colonization class for survival on foreign planets. This is for people who are either trying to colonize a planet or staying on the planet for long term for either mining or science expeditions or other such reasons.

When I walked in I saw quite a few items I was curious about.

The teacher walked in and waved us to our seats. "Welcome to long term colonization class. In this class I'll be showing you some of the go to items you'd want to have for either staking out bounties or pirate to even setting up a home base on an alien planet." He says to us. "Now being a human I like to act on the rule of threes. Three minutes no air, three days no water, and three weeks no food. Human kind has made great advancements towards technology to help end some of these problems such as hunger or thirst." He says pulling out a couple of machines and putting them on the desk I front of him.

"These are cheap items you'll want to have to make sure you are never caught with your pants down in an emergency situation." He says waving his hand towards the items on the desk.

The first item he points us towards kind of looks like a coffee pot. "This little device right here is cheap and affordable for almost every person. You could pick up this model for about 15$ at any store. This device draws moisture from the air and produces clean fresh water." He pushes a butting on the front and it powers on there's a small whirring noise and a few seconds later a small stream of water starts to fill up the pot below.

Ima get me one.

"Next up on the list is food." He points towards a cube shaped machine next to the coffee pot. "This right here is what ended world hunger." He says in a proud voice. "This little machine takes things like leaves and other plant matter and takes the nutrients out of them making them into a food bar or gruel." He pulls out some leaves and opens the top of the machine and puts them inside. Pressing a button on the front the machine starts and we watch as a kind of gray food bar is pushed out of the front of the machine. "For 15$ dollars you've solved all your hunger problems provided you have any kind of plants around you. Now I admit it tastes bland but you can buy better ones and have them taste like your favorite foods. So for a little over 30$ you'll never have to worry about food or water again." I raise my hand.

"Yes do you have a question?" The teacher asks.

"Can I try that food bar I'm really curious as I'm a chef and I've never tasted one before." I ask him.

He smiles at me. "Sure go right ahead."

I walk up and pick up the grayish bar and take a bite. It's got a bit of a leafy flavor and it is indeed quite bland but bland food is much better than no food.

I thank the man and head back to my seat.

"Now that we have food and water out of the way who knows what is the next most dangerous thing besides lack of air?" He asks us.

I think for a second and raise my hand.

"Yes?"

I reply "sickness or disease."

"That's right. All planets can contain their own pathogens. This can easily be identified by a sentinel." He turns towards another item that kind of looks like a bunch of beakers filled with liquids.

"This machine can take information and plants from your surroundings to form a kind of vaccine against any strange pathogens you might encounter. It hooks up to your sentinel if you have one which is suggest you do. And with the help of nanocomputers it finds the best cure for anything your diagnosed with." He explains.

Ugh such good stuff.

"This works for toxins, viruses, rashes all sorts of illnesses." I'll get one for Rin.

"Since those major issues are out of the way your probably wondering about what to do about oxygen. My advice is get a sentinel. They provide both air and protection in hostile environments." He says seriously. "Onto the next thing you might want. Shelter."

He waves us towards a bunch of large crates.

"These are deployable habitats. Some of you might not want to stay on your ships forever. That can cause things like cabin fever in some people." He tells us.

"These are different kind of habitats for different kinds of situations. The first is a land based habitat that you can purchase with customizations. The basic comes with water, power via either solar or a small reactor, a basic food machine. Bathroom with a shower and toilet, bedroom, and a small 2 person table with flip out chairs." He presses a button and the crate shaped object expands into a small square building. "This comes with easy packing and unpacking however they are quite heavy I suggest a loader bot for transporting heavy items or a hover trolly."

I will be looking into both of those items. Next he shows us a heavy duty one used for undersea survival it takes in floating plant matter and water and cleans it and makes food, water, and power. There's an added area for loading and unloading to get rid of water upon entering. I don't feel like doing anything underwater cause the thought of open water and alien monsters in pitch black abyss is absolutely terrifying. I'll stay on land if you will.

While all of this is going on I'm using my sentinel to buy all of these neat things and have them shipped to the house. I could use my inventory for a lot of these things but no that ruins the fun and I want special robots to move stuff for me. I want nice things like everybody else.
