After dropping off Amber at the elementary school we headed over to the college to see what kind of classes we were allowed to take. There would be exhibits going on showcasing the different kinds of fields we were allowed to go to.
Currently we were on an earth far into the future. Mankind was exploring different planets fighting off different kinds of space monsters, evolving at an extreme pace. There was everything from nanotechnology to full dive experience for games. Virtual reality was a big hit.
We were going to Earth's Advanced Tech College.
We walked into the auditorium which was currently packed to the brim with people and all sorts of electronics. There were personal space ships on display anywhere from small single man starships to medium multi-room starships. But the thing that drew my attention the most was a mech not like one of those huge hulking ones from anime this one was only a few meters bigger than a person and you could sit right in the chest piece. The ones on display looked like regular white mannequins and were for training purposes. There were all sorts of different attachments near them from drills to weapons.
I nearly ran over to the booth to look up more on it.
A man in a skin tight suit standing at the booth walked up to me as I was reading a booklet.
"Interested in the personal xl powersuits man?" He asks me.
"Yes I was curious about a couple things and came over to see." I explain still browsing the booklet as the girls also eye it in interest except Rin who is looking at nanotechnology healing pods a few stalls over.
"Well I can help you out a bit. These xl powersuits are a bigger form of the nanotech powersuit." He says pouring towards a floating cube around one of his friends. Which quickly turns into a type of sleek black bodysuit and helmet.
"These puppies are used for everything from construction to mining asteroids to fighting off aggressive wildlife on new planets." He says waving towards the respective tools. "They are also used to catch space pirates, emergency rescue missions, or exploration. There's all sorts of different setups you can use for your personal suit."
He walks over to the two training suits and flips the chest open. "Now for your powersuit there usually comes two options one is for manual controls and one is for the neural commands." He says looking at one with different screens and controls and another with a type of helmet. "Now both have pros and cons the biggest being price. Neural sensors are expensive like millions expensive and most people can't afford that unless they are from some higher up family." Which sounds reasonable enough.
"How are the neural sensors worked do you need surgery or something for them or do I just have to put on the helmet?" I ask him.
"Some of the cheaper ones do require small surgeries but they are still much easier to use than the manual systems. These however are the best in the market. You only have to slap on the helmet and it dives you right in. Don't ask me how it's done as I'm a pilot not a scientist." He laughs.
"Now what about those little cube guys what are those?" I ask.
"We call them sentinels they are made out of nanotech and work for just about everything you need from communication and shopping to neural transmitters to get into the virtual web they come in all different kinds of forms from the 300$ basic communication one to the 10000$ powersuit to even the 30000$ powersuit neural transmitter and tool module with add-ons." he says passing me a brochure.
Oh baby these are nice. The cheap ones come in a kind of smart watch or phone design and can be used as identification tools or credit cards and link to your bank accounts. The bigger ones can be used as bracelets like my armor or float around on their own in any shape you like. When needed they melt onto your body forming a small space suit and giving you some oxygen for either deep sea or space emergencies.
I was for sure going to order some.
"Do you have order forms?" I ask the man.
"Yes I have forms for the powersuits and the sentinel systems right here." He pulls up a display and I start ordering items.
"You'll be able to pick up your purchases at the school store. Except for the powersuits as you just bought the best ones and they will be custom made to fit each of you." He says looking wide eyed at the order which was heading towards millions of dollars.
"I'm sure there's a couple requirements to actually be able to bring this things out am I right?" I ask him.
"Yes the powersuits require a T1 pilots license which you can get by taking classes here we will hold onto your powersuits until you can accommodate them. For a cruiser up to medium class you need a T2 pilots license. Which you can learn about over there." He points towards the space ships booth.
"What's a medium class cruiser?" I ask him curiously.
"Any spaceship with under 100 passengers space is considered medium anything over is a large cruiser. Anything below 10 is a light cruiser. So after 10 passengers it's considered a medium cruiser." He explains as my eyes sparkle with glee.
"Thank you very much I will indeed be registering for this class." I say shaking the mans hand and registering for the class. The girls also register. I head over towards the starships and sign up for a piloting class there as well sadly I can't buy a ship until I get my license for flight. But you can bet your ass I'll be getting one.
