Unfortunately for the Taylors, they get to pick up an additional crime on top of their prior one. If I said I didn't feel the slightest bit vindicated to hear the public spit vitriol at that family and to hear that the government was going to strip them of their titles and honors, that would be a lie. But it's still perplexing me.
They had a duchy to their name, a generous swath of the empire's eastern territory that paid taxes directly to them, and Duchess Taylor's presence in the social scene was only second to the empress. If it weren't for the fact that the entire family, the duke, duchess, and Sir Gregory, had fled the day of the gas attack and their whereabouts are unknown, anyone sane would probably ask them the same thing: Why did you throw everything away with such a silly assassination attempt?
