Half an hour passed, but seconds were miserably slow for the three girls waiting outside of the examination rooms. From walking in many distorted shapes while dizzying staffs in the hallways, the girls couldn't help but feel anxious. The longer the wait, the worse their curiosity took over their patience.
"Okay! Why is it taking so long?" Selina bit her nail worriedly. She remembered the doctor had permitted Celinda and Kyla to enter the examination room first.
"Should we ask to make sure everything is alright?" Jessica read the time and couldn't help but feel anxious as well.
Yi Wei, on the other hand, reacted the calmest with crossed legs on the bench. "No use in asking. When they are done, then they'll be done. It's not like we would be of any help even if we are in the room with them."
"True..." Jessica and Selina nodded in unison as they stared at the closed doors. In the next minute, the door to the left opened, and Celinda walked absentmindedly out of the office. Because her purse was carried by Yi Wei, she didn't have anywhere to put the medical report in her hand.
"How is it?!" This time, Yi Wei was the first to jump up from her seat and rush over to Celinda. Seeing how quiet she was, the girls felt skeptical about the pregnancy test from earlier. Just when they were ready to comfort her, Celinda whispered something in a low voice that only the girls could hear.
"Wait, repeat what you just said!" Selina grabbed Celinda's hands, which were sweaty from nervousness.
Celinda looked at the anticipating looks on the girls' faces before smiling brightly. "I'm pregnant!"
"Oh my god!!!!!!!!!" Selina bit her lower lip while Jessica was busy shaking Selina's body from excitement. Since she couldn't act rashly with Celinda, she could only hug Selina and laugh as if she had won the lottery.
"Congratulations!!!! But then your body report..." Yi Wei recalled Celinda telling them she was infertile after a full examination before her marriage.
"That report was most likely wrong or fake. The doctor said I was perfectly healthy." Celinda smiled, revealing her white teeth as she caressed her lower abdomen. She couldn't wait to tell Bryan the great news. However, once the thought of telling him about her pregnancy came to mind, she wasn't sure how she should tell him about it.
Since this child was unexpected and they just got engaged, Celinda felt flustered by what she should do. Many questions raised in her mind regarding how he would react. Selina squeezed Celinda's hand and softly calmed her worries.
"Celinda, my brother will definitely love you and your baby. He will only love you more and not less when you tell him about your pregnancy. Since he is half responsible for creating a life, he will take responsibility. Don't be afraid and talk to him. Plus, he is definitely one heck of a family man anyway, so no problem at all." Selina's eyes matched her smile.
"Now, just Kyla left." Jessica rubbed her palms together. Her eyes eagerly stared at the closed door on the other side of the hall. Slowly, the girls walked Celinda to wait in front of the examination room where Kyla was having her test.
"Don't worry, I'm sure-." Before Yi Wei could give the girls some reassurance again, a loud scream could be heard from the examination room where Kyla was appointed to. Without hesitation, the girls barged into the room.
The strength Jessica and Selina used made them stumble, nearly falling down to the floor. Fortunately, they managed to balance themselves before smashing into any equipment.
"What's wrong, Kyla?" The girls asked, startling the obstetrician-gynecologist who was pointing to the small screen in the room.
Kyla's hands were covering her mouth when the girls abruptly entered the room. She looked at her friends with tears in her eyes. "I...I'm pregnant..."
The girls patted their chest to calm their restless hearts. Selina took a deep breath and leaned against Jessica. "Just that...You scared us and here we thought something happened...Wait...You.. Did you just say you are pregnant too?"
Everyone's eyes were on the obstetrician-gynecologist, who kept an amiable smile on her face. "Congratulations, you are going to be a mother. However, according to what you've answered, you haven't been taking care of your health lately. I would suggest for you to stay in the hospital for two days, so we could make sure your fetus is stable. The first three months is extremely important."
"Wait, doctor. Then, is everything alright with her and her child?" Selina knew how ill Kyla felt for the past weeks, so she wanted to make sure everything was alright. If anything were to happen to Kyla and her baby, then she won't let Madam Wang receive just a friendly greetings card.
"It is still too early to accurately access the fetal's heartbeat, but from what I am seeing, the fetal's heartbeat is weak. Of course, this could be because she is approximately 2 months pregnant. More tests will be taken when she reaches further into the trimester. Still, I suggest you stay and maintain a steady mood during pregnancy." The obstetrician-gynecologist continued typing words into the computer and scribbled down words before handing a medical report to Kyla.
"I've forwarded the information to the register. You just need to check-in with them, and they'll lead you to your assigned room." After the obstetrician-gynecologist exchange tips with the pregnant ladies, she excused herself for the next patient.
- In a certain private hospital room -
"Lie down." Selina adjusted the pillows on the bed and carefully helped Kyla lie on her back.
"Relax. I'm pregnant, not disabled. I'm not that fragile to the point where you guys need to help me in and out of the bathroom." Kyla nearly laughed out loud when she saw the furrowed brows on the girl's faces.
"Nuh uh! You have a little one inside of you. How could we risk the chances of wet floors or pointy edges? Also, the real question isn't how we are exaggeratedly taking care of you. The serious question is when will you tell the baby's father, my brother that you are pregnant with his child? He should be the one doing these things, tch. Seems like he hasn't been beaten for a while that he turned dumb. I need to refresh his memories." Jessica applied pressure on her knuckles, cracking some bones.
"I don't want to see him." Kyla stroked her stomach through the blanket and looked at her friends with a pleading look on her face.
"Not this look again..." Selina muttered, comprehending what Kyla wanted them to do.
"He's the one who said he was tired of coaxing me and we aren't even married yet. He can't tell me where he's been for the past what? Two months? Am I at fault for being angry at his words? Plus, the child is in me, not in his body. If he has the ability, tell him to give birth to his own child. My baby can have no father." Kyla pouted as she rubbed her tummy.
