When Jason came down for breakfast, dressed in a slick black suit with his hair combed back, he found that the girl was already downstairs gobbling up the food Infront of her. The cook had been given a hard time since he was no longer allowed to use any of the ingredients he used the night before. Breakfast was no issue but come lunch and dinner he didn't know how to work around the long list of ingredients that included things like tomatoes, cabbages and vegetable oil.
"Good morning", Jason greeted."Nanny, did she give you any more trouble? I'm sure she was a good girl" he said while patting her head and looking into her big bright eyes. Nanny Jo felt like she was seeing Jason display the fatherly love she had wondered if he'd have at all. She was pleased but still unhappy that it was for a crazy girl, but then again the poor girl had done nothing wrong.
"She's okay" Nanny Jo answered, " but Old Master called me so early this morning that he woke us both up"
"What did you tell him?"
"What else? I told him it would be better if he spoke to you concerning your own matters"
"Thank you Nanny"
"But you can't ignore him.. What are you planning?"
"Nanny, don't worry, I won't leave you in the middle of this one" Although Old master Wu wasn't in the military, he felt his descendants needed to fight for the advantages they got from being a Wu. He didn't tolerate any laziness or prodigal behaviour. Jason had had to work for everything he spent and owned. It was a shock to anybody to know that the heir of the richest conglomerate in Asia was sponsored by a government scholarship through university. Before he joined the company and took over as the CEO 2 years ago,he'd started and grown his own IT company at breakneck speed. In just 5 years, his company had been worth 2 billion. He would have chosen to keep developing on his own if his grandfather hadn't blackmailed him into joining the conglomerate with the memory of his parents.Growing up, besides housing and food and Nanny Wu who was provided him, Jason had been practically independent. Working part-time jobs in different Sectors and branches of the family company where he wasn't given any preferential treatment. Nanny Jo was always sure this hard training was what made the boy who was once bright and open turn so very cold. Before any big decision in the company was made, there'd always be a silent feud between the old master and Jason in which they monitored each other and tried to outwit the other. Old master always made it a point to support those who opposed his grandsons decisions, making him work twice as hard to prove himself all the time.
Jason finished his breakfast and got ready to leave. "Please watch her for me Nanny, I'll be back early to take her to the hospital. Make sure she takes her medicines"
A few hours later, after his early morning meeting, Jason sat in his office and received a file from assistant Kwan. " Master Wu, the results are in, her name is Karen Lou, she's twenty. Lost her parents eight years ago in a car crash and is supposed to be living with her Uncle's family. She was a last year student at Rennen high school but dropped out two years ago. Her family told the school she was unwell. There haven't been any reports of her being missing. He mother was was Michelle Von, the world class model and her father was Tom Lou, they started the company Karlou Cosmetics together, which is now run by her Uncle who was supposed to be her legal guardian."
Jason was suspicious after learning the background of the girl. If she was really from such a good family, how did she end up so wretched and on the streets? And why was she not reported missing? He picked up a picture of Karen in her highschool uniform. In the picture, she had a straight face that didn't betray any emotions. She looked so very different from now, when she kept funny expressions on her face, but she was still a very beautiful girl. It was a pity that she wasn't in her right senses anymore, but that didn't matter to Jason, infact he was comfortable with her for the very reason that she lived in her very own world that couldn't be dishonest and treacherous like the world that most women lived in.
