Chapter 64 - Test of Demiden

Aiden and Demetria looked at each other and then, understanding flashed in their eyes and they increased the force of their attacks. This time, it wasn't just limited to the mirage effects.

They chanted, "Whenceforth light and darkness prospers, Demiden be only there. Demiden together requests to test Brad with their powers. Demiden wants the Devil to start the test."

From every corner of the room, a demonic voice, filled with utter melancholy echoed, "You have the Devil's permission. You may start. This Devil will assist you."

As they got the Devil's permission to test Brad with their combined powers, Aiden placed his hand in front of him. Demetria clasped onto the hand and then slowly materialized their power of fire and ice.

First, they dropped huge chunks of ice which were as solid as rocks. Brad tried to use his hands to block the attack, but he found himself being further pushed back. His strength weakened under their combined attacks, and these attacks were harmful for him, as he saw that all the attacks landed on his body and were no more a mirage.

At this point of time he understood that it was either do it or die. He didn't want to die so early. He had to revive Deablo, who is in a coma. He wanted to save his dad. He didn't want to be useless. A fire burnt in his heart as he looked up to them with his eyes full of hatred.

They might be strong, but they can't force him into submission because of this. He might not know magic, but he believed that he had to survive for both Olympia and Deablo.

As soon as he thought that, he closed his eyes and thought frantically, "God, save me. I don't want to die yet. I have many things to do. Please help me. Please God! Please."

As if his prayers bore magic, he felt the surrounding threat lessen, and a muffled sound coming from the front.

"Huh? What happened to you?"

"You dare to ask? Is it not because of you? Hmph! We just wanted to test you. Were there any need to treat us as such?"

Under their series of complaints, he lost the previous sense of malice within him. He did not know why, even after being stabbed by them the previous time, he couldn't bring himself to hate them.

He stood there watching the man busy healing his wife.

"How can anything burn her?"

"Isn't it all because of you?" As Brad heard the man blaming him for the second time, he became angry and said, "But, I did nothing. I just prayed to God to save me."

"Hmm. That's interesting and also, deadly."

"What is interesting and deadly?" Brad looked at him, puzzled.

"This ability of yours is both interesting and deadly."

"Do you mean that God came and saved me?"

"You can say so. But, in reality, you saved yourself."

"Why did you want to test me?"

"You have to receive your powers. And, only we can help you unlock them."

"How can I do that?"

"Close your eyes and tell me what do you see?"

"Endless space."

"Anything else?"

"Tiny specs of light floating around. I might add that they seem 'happy'. Is that normal? Specs of light can't be happy. But they are happily dancing around in a strange rhythm."

"Anything else? Look carefully."

Brad focussed on one particular spec of light which shone brightly amongst all the specs of light. 'Just what is it?' He thought to himself.

Although he knew that it was something that related to what he was asked to see, he couldn't understand what that meant. As he tried to go near that spec of light and he felt himself being lifted off his feet. He felt himself float in the vast space and no matter how much he tried to advance towards the spec of light, it went farther and farther away from him.

He opened his eyes in frustration, and was astonished to see that standing there was Aiden smiling mysteriously.

"Don't be perplexed. You lost control of it due to your frustration. Let your mind stay at ease. Don't be too excited. Let it guide you." Aiden smiled as he answered.

Brad closed his eyes once again and immersed himself in the darkness of the space. Millions of small orbs hung in the space and as he looked around him, he saw the same spec of light, taunting him, beckoning him to get closer to it. He became angry and as he was on the verge of losing control, he felt that the spec of light was gloating.

He knew he had to calm himself down. He got a hold on his anger and took deep breaths. He decided to follow the spec of light without any disturbance. He saw the floating orb and slowly turned around in order to confuse it. But he didn't know that the orb was smarter than him. It hid itself and then as Brad turned around, he couldn't find the orb anymore. He got irritated again and lost control of the space. Opening his eyes, he saw Aiden glaring at him.

"Boy, what were you trying to do? Didn't I tell you to observe control over your emotions? Frustration, anger, and any other negative emotion will detach you from that space. If you can't control your emotions well, how will you survive this cruel world?" Aiden was extremely angry at Brad, who seemed to have not learnt the lesson well.

Brad stood there with a guilty face and said, "I will try to control my emotions well, this time."

Aiden looked at him blankly without saying anything. The penetrative look scared Brad and soon he closed his eyes. He was determined to control his emotions well, but the brightest orb played with his emotions yet again and he lost control of the space.

This time, he was ashamed of looking into the eye of Aiden, who was standing in front of him with his hands crossed over his chest.

"You!!!"
