Chapter 42 - A Spell

Luna's eyes reflected her inner joy from hearing that she succeeded in awakening her magic element. She started to walk around into the magic circle and hummed secretly into her mind.

The shining magic circle as well as the white and golden flames started to disappear after Luna stepped her feet out of the inner circle. When it disappeared, she could feel a burning sensation inside her body that seemed to attempt in growing larger than before. The warmth of the flames made her feel that she could tread the snowy mountains and still feel comfortable under the cold winds and storms. Furthermore, her body's physical appearance looked healthier than before.

As what Luna had heard from Akiro, her flames were types of healing-based magic and thought that she would be hunted in her previous world if they caught sight of someone like her. She silently chuckled at her ridiculous thoughts.

"Here I thought that you will either have an earth magic element or water element but it seems that I failed to see the lingering strong emotions that ignited a fire in your magic," Akiro said.

He thought that Luna was like an open book that he could easily decipher through her transparent emotions yet he forgot that humans held hidden personalities they don't show to others.

Luna's golden flames resembled her very well. Her kindness to other people was the same as the healing powers of her magic element. He wondered how powerful her healing spell would be.

Akiro's heart tightened and got increasingly curious and excited. He did not expect to befriend a future priestess and felt that he struck it rich although he wasn't sure if the hostile white flames of hers would soon make Luna's magic unstable.

A series of thoughts continued running through his mind that Luna didn't bother talking to him and instead played around with her flames. With her opened palms, she tried to call the flames in her hands. The flames as if they're alive, heeded quickly through her calls.

Then, an idea entered her mind which made her eyes twinkle in delight. They would soon see a priestess causing havoc in the Academy.

Luna picked up the wand made with the most expensive wood decorated with a low-tier magic stone. That was an incredible wand that many would be willing to die for just to get it. She was baffled at first but soon learned that the wand was used by the previous Magus Emperor during his younger years and the wand almost became his trademark.

Although Luna didn't bother to know how Akiro obtained such a treasure that could pass as an heirloom of the previous emperor's family.

She tried to call the flames through the stick instead of her hands since it had more pinpoint accuracy and imagined a spell that could heal a person in a circumference of two meters.

Aside from Akiro, no other person was inside the training room, and healing herself would be a joke so she pointed the wand towards him. As fast as a light, her golden flames traveled through Akiro which the latter suddenly had his eyes widened.

The spell did not only heal physical injuries but also his mental and emotional well-being. His mind became very light and relaxed with a continued soothing feeling around him for several minutes. He couldn't remember when was the last time he felt so peaceful.

Though a sudden thought seeped his mind.

'When did she learn that spell?! Furthermore, she had just learned about her magic element today and not even an hour has passed!' he thought.

"How is my magic?" Luna asked. She wanted to know what kind of effects the golden flame had and how could she improve it better.

"How is your magic, you said? Stop releasing spells for today to avoid draining your magic. The first day of awakening is where a mage is the most vulnerable," Akiro said.

"Anyway, to answer your question, the spell earlier not only heals physical injuries but also your mental state as well. The first spell is usually the weakest so expect that you will have stronger spells considering the amount of magic substance you have before magic awakening," he continued

Luna intently listened with her ears deeply focused on his lectures since some of the terms were unfamiliar.

"I have one concern though," Luna said.

Akiro looked at her into the eye.

"Ask away," he said.

"Well, since I suddenly have a healing-based magic and you don't have as I've observed, will the archmage, city councilors, and that Master Mage Ziluna still accept me as your official student?" Luna said.

Akiro's face fell upon hearing that awful master mage's name. His lips grinned, his eyes became sharp and his back leaned on the wall as he looked towards Luna.

"Of course, he wouldn't be able to do anything. Moreover, it's the knowledge of the Master Mage that will be passed down so the difference in magic and skills and don't matter much," Akiro said.

Luna understood his explanation quickly though she would prefer if he just said it instead of wasting his time posing on the wall. Although it just only showed how much he was annoyed by that man's presence more than Ryle.

"Then my worries are unfounded. I think I'll study my magic element more after resting today as you've suggested," Luna said.

"Take your time resting and I shall prepare new lessons to suit your training. You can go now," Akiro said

Luna nodded. They both left the main training grounds and saw three heads peeking out in a corner of the hallway which she ignored because of exhaustion. She didn't feel it earlier but upon thinking of resting, her body suddenly wanted to sleep. The adrenaline rush she had seemed to disappear. Also, her magic was less than half, and didn't want to use the remaining magic amount.

Exhaustion due to magic was more tiring than simply exhausted due to other reasons.

When Luna reached her room, she immediately removed her robe and hanged it safely on a clothes rack. The wooden wand had its own case made of the same wood though it wasn't decorated like the wand. The simple case made the wand stood out.

After changing into nightclothes even though it was still early, Luna jumped on her soft bed and she thought that her exhaustion would last a day and didn't want to sleep wearing a long outdoor dress.

While sleeping, she couldn't help but be excited for tomorrow.
