Chapter 29 - Life-Like Doll

Both of them stopped running through the lush green garden of the mansion upon reaching the door. Nonetheless, they found out that the huge door was locked after Luna twisted the doorknob for several tries. She bit her lips tightly as she did not know what to do and also upon the thought that they looked like thieves.

Meanwhile, Akiro looked at the door calmly and pointed his hands on the doorknob. A clicking sound could be heard when his hand glowed in a golden light.

"Wow," Luna uttered.

Akiro looked at her in a usual blank face as he was unbothered by his companion's reaction however his face frowned after hearing her next comment.

"Your lock-picking skills in magic is way easier than in our world. You're not secretly a thief aren't you?" Luna asked.

Seeing her face filled with curiosity without a hint of anger or resentment made him filled with fury than ever. She looked like an innocent child asking an older person.

'Does Luna always see me as a thief?!' Akiro thought as his brows almost formed into one and said, "What thief are you talking about? The magic lock on that door is just too weak for me. I can open any door with weak security without key and it is to be expected since the Noble Amsterdam is just a low-class noble," Akiro said.

"Okay, let's go?" Luna answered.

He nodded but deep inside him, he was left baffled by how she sometimes took things lightly yet sometimes seriously. Unknown to him, Luna was holding her laughter in a corner, while pretending to find the child he was talking about. Finally suppressing her laughter, she turned toward him and asked for information.

"Hmmm, what is the child's appearance?" she asked.

They had been finding the child's location but he didn't even bother telling the child's appearance.

'What if I suddenly mistook another child from him?' Luna thought.

"Well, he's an eleven-year-old child with striking silver hair. That's all I know," Akiro answered.

With that, she thought that it would almost be impossible to find a child with a very limited description if not for that child's hair and the small place of the Noble Amsterdam's Mansion. "Okay then, I'll try to find him on the second floor. I hope they did not go out with their child today," she utttered.

After hearing her, he immediately faced Luna. Things would turn out dire when the Amsterdam family left for a vacation. His task would take longer than usual if that happened. "Don't say such things or else it might really happen!" he said.

Luna just shrugged her shoulders and walked upstairs. Then her eyes lit up after she saw that the doors had rectangular silver sheets placed in them. The silver signs had carved names of people with the last name 'Amsterdam'.

"If that's the case, I will be seeing his room sooner," Luna uttered and happily turned to the innermost hallway and later saw a lone door in it. Then the intricately cursive name carved on a rectangular golden sheet caught her attention.

'Erik Wane Amsterdam'

"This is his room!" Luna uttered and noticed that his name was written on a golden sheet compared to the other members of the family. Not even the head of their household was in a gold color.

"I wonder what's so special about that child," she thought.

Nonetheless, the door was locked so she turned back and called for Akiro. In a blink of an eye, he appeared in front of her.

"What?" Akiro asked.

Luna suddenly felt the urge to roll her eyes but she suppressed herself, and instead extended her hand towards a certain door.

"It's Erik Wane Amsterdam's room," she uttered.

"Hmm, good job," he said. Then he walked towards the door and did the magic lock picking technique as Luna said it to be. Akiro opened the door when he heard the click. It was a little bothersome for him as he could easily destroy the door with magic but that would be discourteous.

Meanwhile, they were welcomed by a nice and elegant atmosphere reminiscent of a high-class noble's room which should not be expected for a low-class noble and the owner was even a child. He frowned upon seeing it as most of the things was indeed expensive for the family of Amsterdam. He would not usually care about that but it meant that his work would double.

"The inside gives off a different aura than the rest of the mansion," Luna uttered but aside from the elegance of the room, something seemed to creep her which she could not help but shiver.

When they walked further, they saw a child who was sitting on the floor while leaning on the bed. However, what caught their attention was his silver hair that was slightly hiding his deep blue eyes. The young man was staring on a life-like doll with the same hair color yet the doll had wavy and astounding light pink eyes.

"Such a beautiful doll," Luna uttered. Usually, a girl would be owning a pretty doll but she thought that his circumstances was different after seeing the longing in his eyes.

Meanhwile, Akiro touched the boy's head after quickly approaching him. The latter was shocked by his sudden appearance as he didn't sensed his movements. However, the surprise in his eyes quickly faded and began to be filled with sorrow reminiscent of a man carrying the weight of the world.

'As far as I know, you're only an eleven-year-old boy! But why do you have so much sadness in your eyes?' Luna thought and suddenly had the urge to know about his current life as if her childhood were spent like any normal child.

"W-who are you?" he asked.

Akiro squatted down to meet his eyes and gave him a promising look, thinking that it would give the boy with some hope. Meanwhile, Luna did not expect him to show any kind emotions towards the young man.

"I'm a wish-maker, I'll make whatever wish you want to come true," he said.

Nonetheless, Luna was confused. 'Last time, he only knew the person's wish after asking them but it was clear that he had some of the details about today's work,' she thought.

She ended up thinking that it was either he's informed in advance by some unknown magical entity about the person's wish but it's not that detailed or he went to the future or look into his past for more information.

'The first one seemed to be the truth,' she thought. Then Luna frowned when Akiro didn't even inform her about John's wish before she left him and ended up lost in the woods. After that, she shook her head and chose to watch how the child would respond.

"Y-you're not lying?" The boy asked with a weak voice.

Akiro quickly nodded and said, "Say, what's your wish?"

The child named Erik pointed towards the life-like doll in front of him. "All I want is to bring Irene into life," Erik said. Moreover, his lips continued to say something but it was so faint they couldn't hear it.

"Hmm?" Akiro said.

The child quickly shook his head while his right hand clenched into a fist. Both of them didn't fail to see his abrupt action. It was clear that he's hiding something but he could not blurt it out to anybody.

"If you really can make her human, I'll tell you a secret," he said.

'What a mysterious boy,' Luna thought while her head suddenly turned around into a certain someone who was a mysterious man himself.

"Can I observe the doll for a while?" Akiro said.

The child hesitated but gave in afterward. Akiro quickly examined the doll after his answer. When he touched it, the doll's rosy eyes began to glow. His eyes widened for a bit as it seemed to shine together with his hands.

Watching it, Luna really found that his powers amazing. 'It seemed like he has nothing that he can't do,' she thought.

Shortly after, he let go of the doll and looked at the boy with a charming smile. "Expect for her to be human by tomorrow. I believe you know that it wouldn't be easy but I can do it and just need to prepare for the time being. Are you willing to cooperate with us?" he asked.

The boy quickly nodded and a glimmer of hope suddenly appeared in his eyes that was earlier full of sadness and despair. "I'll do anything as long as my wish came true," he answered.

Akiro nodded and explained to him how the situation tomorrow should turn out. After that, he unexpectedly carried Luna, jumped out of the window then teleported in an instant to an alleyway and turned back the frozen time.

"Let's go to the market, we have to buy some things," Akiro said.

Luna was confused but followed him in the end. 'And don't just teleport anytime you want! Couldn't you inform me first?' she thought and prevented herself from speaking it aloud because somebody might accidentally hear their conversation.
